That is NOT real. That is an actual shot from PGR3.
The creators of PGR3 released this shot just yesterday.
Nope, thats real, it's one of the real photo's bizzare used to create the tracks.

Uh no its not.

Bizzare is already showing what the 360 is capable of. Watch the PGR3 videos. You look good enough, you can see the buildings in the video can look just as real as that shot.
That is an actual in-game shot of the building.

This isn't the Xbox gaming series anymore.

Read my post above. All you're seeing is a low-poly object with high-resolution textures. It doesn't "show off" anything.

Compare that pic, the one I'm saying is real, to the rest of the PGR3 shots. Theres a clear difference, the PGR3 shots as good as they are, are still notably different to real life. Care to explain why suddenly theres a single picture that looks so much more eral thats taken in game from PGR3 yet ALL the others look notably less real?

You know, if you 2 wanna complain about the picture, how about you go e-mail Bizzare. They released it and claimed it was a game shot.

Where did they claim it's in game? Do you have a link or anything?

live, you really think that's a real picture?

Compare.

Does the PGR3 one look real now?

Okay, you got me. It still looks miles beter than the rest of PGR3 pics though, maybe t's because it's not a camera following a moving car or it could be part of an introduction movie or something.

Sometimes I wonder....are games going to get too real?
I mean, in less than 50 years, we got games now looking like something almost of our own world.

Imagine 10 years from now?
Will we be able to tell real from gaming as in terms of graphics?

Hell, the PS3 shots I've seen look to real, espcially Fight Night Round 3, only to find out those are real shots as the game was playable at E3. :nervous:

My vision of the future of gaming is this:

You will be in a real world ambiance, you will be surrounded by screens, it will be your 360 degree view or you'll wear an helmet that will recreate everything around me, you will have sensors on your that will detect everymove you do.

The only problem is that not every type of game fits that design, so back to the drawing board!

Very allmost, on first glance it looks like a photo, when you take a second look, you can tell it aint real. Things like edges that are too smooth etc give it away. Making buildings look realistic is not difficult if your gonna use high quality photo textures.

Whether you like Project Gotham Racing 3 or not, you have to admit, that picture comparison from Post #97 by "McLaren F1GTR" is amazing. And for the one asking if games are going to look too real, yeah. In fact, how do you think most of us sex-crazed males thought when we first seen Lara Croft? Rayne in "Bloodrayne 2?" Like I said. PS3 vs. XBOX360 is probably going to be bigger than PS2 vs. XBOX.

People, games have come a long way. Racing/Driving games are no different. It used to be black and white pixels, 16-color displays, Pole Position, OutRun, Daytona USA, Sega Super GT/SCUD Race, Gran Turismo series, Project Gotham Racing series, and the youngest entrant- Forza Motorsport. You can completely hate the XBOX360, but you have to admit that picture comparison is insanely wonderful. Good job, Bizarre.

Hell, I still remember playing "Test Drive" on my old PC-XT (this was before the x86 architecture). Four-color display, I think it had maybe five cars and one track.

As for the XB360 thing.. I'm comforted by the fact that PS3 can do anything XB360 can do. :) And you can bet that Polyphony will be the one to do it. :)

Good lord, Kikie... I just got DONE with a 100-post page where I had to side-scroll because of that ***king image.. and you put it up again at the beginning of page two. Would you PLEASE edit your post to remove it?

You could have asked your (redudant and already answered many times) question without reposting the same image.

That's because the video footage released on MTV is months old... this is brand new. Look at these pictures here and look at the background buildings, they look just as astonishing:

These look very good.

Double post.

Oh but do you have a link(;) McLaren F1) to thoes pics?

I guess live means links.

PGR3 is looking great. Too bad it won't be one of those 1st launch titles. :indiff:
I want to play it badly.

iceburns288
I believe it will be a launch title...?
Well, I mean, one of those games that doesn't comes out within the 1st week of the 360 release.

I've heard it will be released shortly after the 360 debut, but nothing near a launch title.

I'm a member of BC's website so I'm looking into it now, but until then I love your sig man! That's my favorite part of any episode ever... and I tried to make a GIF of the Koolaid guy busting through the wall but failed :(. If you know of one, please tell me :D

Code_Kev will like this.

Last week we released a single screenshot from PGR3 which seemed to cause quite a stir all over the Internet...

Initially, people claimed it was just a photograph! I think people have pretty much come to the correct conclusion now though - this is what people can genuinely expect from the next generation of video games. Bizarre Creations are proud to be one of the developers leading the charge toward High Definition, and we're very pleased with the results so far.

As a small gift to all of you who still refuse to believe that last week's image was a real screenshot, here we have the wire-frame version of the same scene, captured from the same dev kit that the original screenshot was taken. After reading the comments from all over the web (ranging from "That's awesome" to "That's a fake!"), we felt we had to release something which proved we're not messing with you.

Some people also claimed that we only showed this particular building because it's our most impressive. That's simply not true... and I wanted to work out a way to prove it to you. So as I wandered over to Chris's desk to get this wire-frame shot I decided that I would ask him to grab whatever was on his screen at that particular moment. After a couple of seconds of fiddling with his 360 controller to get the best angle, Chris rendered out this new shot for us. This is New York City again, in a slightly different area of town - and as with the shot last week, it's just a random street rather than a specific 'showpiece' area that some were worried about.

Yes, it is possible to get all areas of the game that need it up to this level of detail – that’s what you get for 2 years work with up to 35 artists here at Bizarre, plus additional help from outsourcing companies! Some areas (ie. those with simple buildings in real life) won’t be as detailed, but where buildings are that complex, the game will be that complex too. And in case you don’t believe me again, the wire frame screenshot is printed below, taken immediately afterwards from the same dev kit, by switching the game into wireframe mode.

This is how PGR3's artwork looks right now. On actual 360 hardware. Please bear in mind, however, that you're still looking at a work in progress video game, and that the final in-game effects and lighting aren't even in place yet. We're still a long way from the finish line, but things will only improve from this point on. Start preparing now, and save your pennies for a widescreen HDTV and surround sound system. Although the game will still look stellar on a regular TV, you'll get the best experience when you go High Def.

In other news, Roger (our super code monkey) did a small show 'n' tell for the team. He demonstrated some of the new effects that have recently been put into the game. A whole bunch of us crowded into the meeting room, and saw the game running in all it's 720p glory on a huge projector. Running into barriers and watching the crowd scatter in terror never gets old!

In our debug build, we can detach the camera and wander over the cityscape, without having to worry about driving our car to the particular bit of track we want to look at. It really helps when you need to get a good look at some of the buildings or other geometry in the game. Whilst I was whizzing about in the debug camera, I stumbled upon something really impressive...

When you zoom right up to the back of your car, you can actually see gases being vented from the engine! You notice heat haze at the back of your car's exhausts! It ripples the air around it, and gives the impression of heat blasting over the back bumper of your super car. (I'll try to get a screenshot of this soon). It's simply awesome - Should. Have. Sent. A. Poet.

Yes, but like they had sad earlier, its pretty much an in-game shot. It is photogrammetry, but at that level of detail is what they can get for every building.
Like they said, "Yes, it is possible to get all areas of the game that need it up to this level of detail."

I think that's one advantage of a game like this (which will also carry over to GT, Forza, TOCA, the whole lot), is that the environments are very limited. There's only so much to make, in the area around each track. I think it's more feasible on a game like this than on something like GTA, where the environments are much more numerous and much larger.

But just think... GT5... New York... 128-bit HDR lighting & reflections...

As far as that being ingame goes, I have no dobt that the game engine running there, but thoes now 2 pics look far, far better than the actual ingame shots weve seen and keep seeing. I thnik they're just stills rendered at a higher resolution from the game engine, weve yet to see and cars racing at that level of detail. I thnik PD showing pics from their photomode has started somethng here. I'm not saying at this point whats possible and whats not, but if they are genuine in game 60fps then why arn't we seing pics from races that look like that.

Same here but remember its better to wait for a game insted of it getting rushed.

Also if they don't rush the game they can add extra things and even kill the bugs and gliths.
