Awww why can't THOSE wheels be in the game!!!!
My thoughts exactly.
But the 4th picture (Suzuki Kei or whatever) confused me. Those are clearly in game wheels...

I'm interested by the car with it's door open - I didn't expect that.

It would seem real time lighting isn't a giant feature, those shadows are just textures but hey, that's a good thing - trying to find an open, sunny place to take pictures out in a forest was a pain in the ass, shadows are the natural enemy of photographers. If we could get rid of them in real life we would.

Me too, of course that means that it's a special effect for photo mode, or it's a museum where your looking at the cars, exterior and maybe even interior? We can only speculate. :indiff:

Photo Mode locations, so far, have all been outdoors.
The Museum idea makes sense.

My bad, the Tokyo Inter. Forum _is_ partly a museum.

Post #202 by Cobra: THAT CANNOT BE GRAN TURISMO 4! That's too freaking real to be the game! I don't even think the XBOX can come up with stuff like this.

One thing that seems similar was this one stage in XBOX-only game "Dead or Alive 3." If you're not trying to look up my girl Lei Fang's legs, this stage was an aquarium or something and had some nice graphics. Come to think of it, something like the daytime Beginner track from Super GT/SCUD Race, or that one stage in Need for Speed 3 that had that aquarium would be great for a Photo Mode picture as well. I think the Super GT example would be a little more colorful. If you had a silver car like a Mercedes-Benz... no wait. Let's say the car was a bright silver Nissan S15 Silvia. With the sun beating down on the surface of the water, colorful fish swim around while you're taking pictures of your sweet Silvia. I don't know if the car will reflect the sun and the fish, but that would be pretty nice, since I love city settings. I'm not going to suck up to NYC, but New York City would have some wonderful spots to take pictures. If GT4 had San Francisco, Seattle, or maybe even Denver, there's more sweet places for pictures.

Or if you want to go international, let's do that. I wouldn't mind [trying to] drift [ing] a TVR Tuscan on rain-soaked streets of London, or trying to haul ass on the Autobahn in a Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR (with German police running after me (NFS:HS, but this is just a game)), or... my goodness. This is must-have shizzle, my nizzle. You dig, players?

To set things right, i just found out thats not the airport its Tokyo International Forum: Architect by Rafael Vinoly, 1989 competition, completed in 1990-96. Building type is exhibition hall, conference center and construction system is steel frame and megatruss, glass curtain wall of High-Tech Modern style. A gracefully expressive great curving ship shape in glass and steel, set off across its plaza with blocky recalls the scale of other European supporting halls. Next door to Tokyo Station.

In fact, we have also seen another indoor photo location : Remember that japanese market location that looked like a warehouse? I believe it was TSUKIJI fish market in Tokio.

If that is Forum
There was Also Forum(N)ight on the prologue disc.
Just wonder what those Pictures are going to look like.

Yup......looks like they have just rendered real photos of things such as the sides of pillars on to flat surfaces and then assembled them into 3D......

Doesn't matter though......still looks amazing! 👍

If you think about it, if there already releasing photo mode images, they have to be done Gran Turismo 4, remember, they have to send these photos to a computer to upload them to a website right, but how would they get the time to do that unless they were already done?

Let me see if i'm getting this........you mean what is the point of releasing photo mode images on the web if the whole point of photo mode it to produce the photos or your own and enjoy the mode in GT4!! If this is what you mean...then yes I agree.....by the time the mode comes out people will have seen all the various locations, settings, angles and cars that they can play with......it will already be an exsausted feature even before the game is released!

I suppose these images are taking the fun out of the eventual release.....is that what you mean?

but.......hey.......its still good the see them! :D

Robin, I don't think you really got what I said, I know I didn't explain it properly so I'll try again;

What I'm trying to say is, how is Polypony Digital getting the time to take these pictures and uploading them to the internet, shouldn't they be working on the game itself, this has to be a sign that the game is either done or something is up.

This here is a very early GT4 pic that was realised before E3 2003. You can clearly see Photo mode was around back then. You can see its Photo mode by the location (fish market), the way the car is positioned compared to the camera and the detail.

The pic was scanned from a magazine.

That's not ingame detail though. The photomode local kill the ingame detail but it's all good.
Yes I know it, I meant about the fidelity of the location in the Photo Mode.

BTW impressive 1 sec. render for a 4 years old 32MB console.

Ahhhh......I get what you mean now...its odd how PD have suddenly released loads of information over the last week like vegas, more online info and more photo mode pics.....obviously they have alot of time on there hands and have finished alot of stuff.

I hope PD are still working on stuff and are not expecting sit on there arses till November! They should be constantly updating things like adding more cars :D and maybe inproving other aspects of the game......

That was one hell of a picture.....gosh it really made me see how amazing GT4 would be.....I didn't even hear of photomode back then! :D

Wonder if you will be able to race though the fish market!

" ... shadows are the natural enemy of photographers. If we could get rid of them in real life we would."

@Eagle: Sorry to say it dude but without shadows not a single thing on earth would have something like a volume. Shadows toghether with highlights are those two light phenomens that mainly define a surface ...
