I pronounce Countach "kahn-tash." It's really off.
I had a lot of trouble with French manufacturer names. Renault was "Renalt" and Citroen was "Crouton"
My Grandmother says it the UK way. I don't care in the least. What I do care about is how to get her to start liking American cars again after a single experience with a Chevette 40 years ago.But Nii-sahn is closer to the original Japanese pronunciation to the UK - simply Nih-san.
I also pronounce Renault as "Ren-alt".I had a lot of trouble with French manufacturer names. Renault was "Renalt" and Citroen was "Crouton"
I think Nii-san is an American thing, again.
More words to think about.
Wiesmann? I say it Wheeze-mahn.
Cizeta. I say it Chi-zhe-tah.
Impreza. I say it Eem-pre-za.
Veloster. I say it Ve-lows-tar.
Mondeo. I say it Mon-daey-yo.
Until I was in my teens I said Bugatti as, Be-u-gatti. I knew the correct way the whole time, but retraining yourself to correct something you did for years as a child takes time.
I pronounce it "wais-mann."Wiesmann? I say it Wheeze-mahn.
I pronounce it "Sigh-zeh-tah."Cizeta. I say it Chi-zhe-tah.
It's "Ihm-preh-zuh" in America, that's how the commercials say it.Impreza. I say it Eem-pre-za.
I say "vuh-lahs-ter."Veloster. I say it Ve-lows-tar.
I say "mon-dee-oh."Mondeo. I say it Mon-daey-yo.
It's time for another Egyptians special

BMW:BM
Volkswagen:Folkes
Subaru:So-Ba-ru
Toyota:Ti-yota
Audi: Oh-D
Hyundai:Hoh-n-die
"Mur-say-dees"
Literally say the letters B M W.

"Awe-dee", but I have also heard it as "Ow-dee"
"Hun-day", "Hun-die", depends on who's talking.
Probably the closest I've seen anyone correctly pronounce it. We Americans don't seem to realize in Germany, V's & W's are not pronounced the same here which I believe makes Volkswagen, "Wolks-vagen".Wiessman - "Vees-mehn"
No one in the US is going to give you funny looks because it's split 50/50 in the US of how to pronounce it. The "e" may be silent, but in Germany, the "e" is unstressed & is pronounced "schaw". In fact, some of the people in this thread saying, "Por-sh-uh" are not right, either.Maybe so, but you get funny looks if you say it like that. I think the "e" on the end is what confuses people. So many English words have a silent e, so putting that in there at the end makes you look kinda funny, let alone not even the correct sound for the letter.
I'll keep pronouncing it as "Por-sh". That seems correct to me.
And no one in the US will likely ever hear the correct way to pronounce French brands, either. But, even owners & enthusiasts know it's Por-sha. Por-sch is just completely incorrect & easily identifies those who don't follow the brand.I've never once in my life heard someone actually say it the way its "supposed" to be said, at least in person. Videos and whatnot are something else.
I first read it as a-cyclone...It must be pronounced Al-see-on.
Oh.
Probably the closest I've seen anyone correctly pronounce it. We Americans don't seem to realize in Germany, V's & W's are not pronounced the same here which I believe makes Volkswagen, "Wolks-vagen".
