You can duplicate a gramophone record with a 3D printer (and bootlegging records is nothing new) because they store the music physically rather than optically.

Indeed, and the demonstration I saw sounded awful. It'll get better when they're able to produce the pits in Vinyl with more detail but you're never going to be able to print a digital disc with one.

From a non techy person here, why not have the PS4 stream films, download music from the music giants and have games that come on high resolution sd cards ?.

I belive this is coming but as streaming only. For me it is great if they do it good, gladly pay 100$/month if i can skip my spotify and netflix and if games (psn+ included) are in this. Tripleplay account.

Just one question. If you want to create a BluRay disc...

BD-RW.

As Simon says, print it all, no need for disc.
Nokia are releasing 3dprintdrawings for their phones so you can print own covers.
Why not print a hommade pc cabin looking like ps4 with pc components but runs steam.

So, what of the guys buying new games? You're forgetting that eliminating the second hand market also denies them the chance to pass their games on (which they evidently do). Less money recouped from games means less money to buy new games. Add to that that you'll probably be shelling out even more in the future for DLC and stuff and voilá.

Don't care..... not my problem. I keep all may games (87 on disc 80 psn since 2006) and can afford new ones. I almost never buy games when they come out. I wait like a patient adult who doesn't want to pay full price. You guys are just disagreeing with my point of view, It won't change anything. If we could vote against it I would, but I won't join the anti-anti-used game movement. I can live with it.

Only new game I plan on getting is GTA5 and may not get a next gen console this year.

And also this

i buy 60% of my games used (but from people directly, meaning 10/20 euros). if i can't play sh games, ps4 and sony can die for all i care. i would either stop gaming or just go pc.

This is the opposite of loyal and part of the problem. Sony does not need these gamer's and are open to abandoning them apparently.

Well because you still need the blank disc, the idea from Mulan was that you printed the whole thing.
That's like building an ignition system based on tesla coils and giant capacitators because you don't want to buy lighter fuel for your lighter to light a zig, isn't it?

See, that's what I'm talking about. You want to run Steam on PC components? Well, why would you print a PS4 cabin and stuff? Just buy a PC, install Steam and be done with it.

To summarize, you're prepared to bend over and "take it like a man". That's what it sounds like, at least. Hey, I for one am not desperate enough for a new console to not oppose what I perceive as pretty bad move by console manufacturers should they chose to follow through with it.

If there weren't so many "loyal gamers", aka. blinkered fanboys, Sony couldn't even think about shafting the second hand market. Purely because it'd make them go belly up in a heartbeat if the audience consisted of more "non-loyal gamers" ready to abandon them.

it was a joke.
And maybe a solution hiding investments...
cost just 500$ honey :)

If they launch their new console for x-mas like they say.
Is it safe to assume the next Grand Theft Auto, will be on the next gen consoles?
I can't believe they would pull the trick on us once more with launch title a la Wave Race.

It's not safe to assume anything. GTA:V has been announced for ps3 and 360. At this stage, the game will be in the final stages. It's highly unlikely that they'd bump it to next gen consoles as those will have fewer users. Don't forget, Rockstar have shareholders to please too. Should the game get pushed back to next gen, there would have to be a pretty good reason for it.

The only way I see it getting released on next gen machines would be if the game suffered due to current gen limitations. They could also release an enhanced version with shinier graphics, but I'm not so sure that they will. One thing is for sure, I'll be buying both GTA V and ps4 on their respective release dates. Given the usual low quality of release titles, I may find myself spending more time in Los santos than playing ps4 games for quite a while.

Edit: What wave race trick?

Loyal fans don't have to worry too much, it's confirmed PS4 bundle edition will include this. I'm not desperate for a new console either. PS3 still doing the job farily well, 2nd market is good enough for all my gaming needs a part sim racing. Considering GT6 / Forza 5 will not necessarily be full blown simulators like rF2 or Assetto Corsa, I'm not even sure PS4 / X720 are an option for me. Maybe pCars will be, on next gen consoles.

I'm in the same boat, actually. In my case, though, it's that most games I cared about in the first place were multi platform titles (some exceptions aside). Most of those game out on the PC as well...

I definitely won't bother with a next-gen console when they launch. Maybe once the first revision comes out and all of the usual issues got ironed out and the price dropped.

It was a launch title from the N64, one of many failed launch titles i've seen over the years.

I'm hoping for something more substantial this time but I will be disappointed

Cars in that launch title behaved like a boat's. Strange feeling :)

Sony for years sticks to Ridge Racer and Wipeout as playstation launch titles. So I'm guessing that only Ridge Racer will be this first game to play.

Just as long as we don't get another 'giant enemy crab', 'real time weapon change' and 'attack its weak point for massive damage'.

loyal? are you seriously talking about loyalty?

if gamers had been loyal the ps never would have sold a unit.

personally i buy systems that are worth it.

not counting my amiga 2000 and the old atari i had, ive been a console owner since the 80's. ive been a loyal nintendo supporter for the nes and snes. nintendo hasn't made a single good console since the snes, hence ive never bought anything nintendo related again. own a neo geo cdz (aes before that) and always been loyal towards snk. been a sony gamer sine the ps2 and now the ps3.

if the ps4 imo is tying to screw me over with a crappy console and what not, guess what, they can bury themselves for all i care.

p.s. being a console fanboy is lame.
