Are there any unlockable items other than the Echochrome suit? I got that last night and my pudgy guy looks like Bibendum.

It may not matter after I go on a shopping spree tonight though.

There is a hat, shirt, and pants that you can win while playing Ice Breaker. I don't know about any of the other games though.

Just went on a shopping spree. Got some nice items for my pad and some nice, new clothes. Oh, you can by another house too. :)

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm not a fan of shopping, so I was pleasantly surprised it took almost no time at all to zip into the mall, add and download the items and zip out. 👍

BTW: I spotted Solid_Lifters sporting the new cowboy hat and jacket... looked like he belonged in the Far Cry 2 video... or on a Safari. ;)

If I counted correctly, there are currently 20 items available from the clothing store, 17 items from the furniture store, and the "Summer Home" property in the Real Estate store... which looks fantastic BTW. It's also the same property I remember Sony showed off over a year ago when they used Home as part of their presentation at E3. I was also pleased with how fast it downloaded when I first went to it. It said it was a 16.7 MB file, and it downloaded in only 40 seconds. That's more than 3Mb/s. 👍

I was curious if all the versions of Home had the same items available in Home, and for the most part they do. The only exception is an odd one... In the Hong Kong and Japanese clothing store, they also have heart-shaped sunglasses... but it's listed in the Men's category? I guess the Asian communities like the Elton John look? ;)

While I was visiting the Japanese Home I also noticed they finally took down the TGS 2008 space. :indiff:

I wonder why they couldn't keep it available?

I also noticed that only the NA version of Home required a download of the Central Plaza space. It said it was a 35.9 MB file, and downloaded in just two minutes.

I looked around, but I didn't see any differences. It had the same music selection in the Listen@Home area, and had the same Far Cry 2 video playing on the main screen as well as the smaller one.

If anyone knows what that Plaza update did, please let us know. Thanks.

This is approximately my new look :D (appropriately enough for the bowling arena!)

 I was thinking of doing the same thing!

I guess I could try and make "The Dude", but I don't think they have a hair style that's close enough, and I'm bummed they don't have any goutee options yet. :indiff:

Maybe I'll make a Jesus Quintana avatar instead... anyone got a hairnet and purple jumpsuit handy? :D

Yeah, I was upset that it was just variations on moustaches. My avatar looks very much like me, only without the soul patch and five-day shadow.

Pure luck and a degree of easter european witchcraft at this stage, I have heard voodoo works but the chickens blood can stain the PS3 quite badly, worth a try if your really desperate though.

Hey guys, How do you obtain an invite? Is it just PURE luck?
In the US there were various different ways to sign up to be eligible for an invite, and then they based it all on your PSN purchases and activity. Plus your PlayStation Network account has to be marked to allow them to send you emails. Some people are so active they just always send them stuff.

I think Europe just sent them out based on PSN activity and purchases. I'm not sure though.

Either way, unless you use and abuse the PSN (and subsequently your wallet) then you have the same chances as buying a lottery ticket or randomly betting on a horse/dog race.

As I try in vain to wipe off the coffee I just spit up all over my laptop... :ouch:

You owe me a new laptop... ;)

I wonder if the bowling "event" will actually be an event, or just everyone trying to play bowling at once?

OK bought the hat, visited wardrobe put it on and continued playing, within 5 seconds of walking around i get a "Hello brokeback" to which someone else reply's "brokeback lol".

So I returned to wardrobe removed , and there endth my hat wearing :)

No, you are doing it wrong. That is when you should turn and start disco or rave dancing in their face.

Honestly though, a cowboy hat now instantly makes people think of Brokeback Mountain? Not John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Tombstone, Young Guns, etc? Really?

I finally visited the HK and EU Homes. In HK I was finally able to find empty bowling lanes and pool tables, as well as darts.

How do you guys get decent scores in bowling? I am not a fan of those controls, that or I have just been spoiled by HVB and Wii Bowling. But then I felt pool was a bit simplistic. How do I put some english on my ball? How do I tap a ball in the hole and then pull the cue ball away without the ability to give it some back spin. Can I jump the ball?

I am not really complaining because they are good for a mini game, but man, I have to say that it has been a long time since I played a game like that without the full complexities of the real thing.

Darts however seemed just fine to me. I like that strength is determined by my thumb movement and not some power meter. It could do without that stupid Cocoa Puffs bird telling me how awesome I am every time I get 60 points.

Could someone tell me which verison these updates came in. yesterday I got a small update onto verision 1.01.1 but today i've been given a bigger update to version 1.02

You cannot use any kind of cue ball spin at all, which is a shame, but it doesn't take long to get good at weight control (which helps a bit) keep hold of the 'X' button and let the cue ride up and down, minimum weight is barely a tap:tup:

 I just got a bunch of silence... of course, you should have said "Say partner, ye got any good sasparilla?" (that is not a euphamism, by the way :ill: )

Perhaps you looked too young to carry off the "lonesome stranger" look properly? - I have wrinkles and everything, and don't forget the grey tache...

I will have to learn how to work this game. My problem is that I understand the full concepts of pool, and while I am not accurate enough to use them in real life I can do well with a good pool simulator game.

Anyway, if anyone wants to practice with me and has an HK account look for me, FoolKillerHK. The HK area is so quiet I may spend a lot of time there for game practice.

One thing I did notice is the Home Cafe they have, I was thinking cafe, as in coffee. All I saw behind the bar was wine bottles.

And I second the Namco games. How? So, is this supposed to be a purchasable add-on later? Right now it asks for a Namco Museum Beta code. I would be willing to pay $5 or so for that, especially if there are clothing prizes attached.

Also, how far into Ice Breaker do you have to go to win the clothes from that? I beat three levels and still haven't gotten it yet.

Namco Museum is a JP only beta at this stage, I got into it on my JP account the same time I got on Home. It has Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug and one other game that I'm not sure what it's called.

There are clothing items you can win (and these are earned outside of Home, in a separate application), if you ever see me in Home, I've got my Pac-Man shirt on :D.

From,
Chris.

Neat stuff. You can also find glitches like that in the Summer Home. Try dropping an item upstairs in front of the fire, watch it fall through the house into the lake and enjoy the view under water.

Level 5 for the Ice Breaker beanie was all I could earn, so far.

Bowling is easy. Just find your particular 'sweet spot' and stick with it. There are several 'sweet spots' or ways to bowl a strike. Just use the one at which you're most consistent.

And yes, I have a cowboy hat, but don't much like it since it adds hair to your head. I also wear the Military Jacket, Camo Pants, Brown Boots, Brown Gloves and Red Sunglasses. It's an awesome look that scares a lot of people; especially little black kids. (he-he-he)
