Pokémon Games Discussion Thread (Gotta Discuss 'Em All!)

Would a para-flinch moveset (Stun Spore + Air Slash) be any decent for Butterfree, or am I better off using a regular moveset?
Stun Spore + Air Slash isn't a horrible combo but it isn't going to score flinches that often even with King's Rock. You have to remember that Butterfree is frail to Rock moves, and generally any physical attack that comes your way too... and when you consider I have tried a bulky variant of Butterfree, max HP / Def doesn't quite save it.

Sleep Powder + Quiver Dance would be my way to go, personally... it's a shame it don't get Hurricane for the Compoundeyes awesomeness. Air Slash is a nice option in terms of coverage, and while I know Bug does hit for STAB, Shadow Ball + Air Slash is the least resisted combo and nails Steels, and Energy Ball + Air Slash has more Super Effective Coverage overall and less resisted than Bug Buzz + Air Slash.

Problem is that Butterfree is rather slow and can be easily left open during the "para" phase of the plan. Against stallers or slow Pokemon it can do wonders but faster sweepers are a little dangerous.

It can work especially with a King's Rock but Butterfree needs to be heavily protected when using Stun Spore. Probably HA Speed Boost, Scolipede can make it faster using Baton Pass and even raise evasion with Double Team.

Since when did Double Team become allowed in the Meta?!?

ALSO:

Supersonic + Stun Spore + Air Slash + Toxic/Substitute with King's Rock... oh god.

Evasion is only banned in Smogon rules, and that isn't an official Pokemon metagame. Single pretty much doesn't have one anymore since VGC switched to doubles.

Granted Evasion is useless in VGC (which is doubles and Evasion is redundant in doubles when your opponent can do 2 on 1 assaults).

Alright. Already had this, but I wanted to see if there was anything else worth trying out.
As I mentioned in one of my other posts you could use Supersonic, Stun Spore and Air Slash... Compoundeyes gives Supersonic 71.5% accuracy which is a risk, but then couple Para and Flinch chance you have yourself something that gets really annoying. Heck, Sleep Powder with Supersonic + Air Slash is fiendish too!

Unless they changed it this gen and I didn't realize, it only affects moves that don't already have a chance to flinch.
It was never ever like that it was always all attacking moves. That's why King's Rock - Serene Grace - Air Slash - Togekiss is a thing ever since Gen IV.

I feel like Shields Down is another ridiculous ability.

It allows Minior to set up Shell Smash much easier and if the Shields drop, it just make Minior even stronger. Also when Shields Down is active, it is immune from status affects so you have to deal damage to it until the shields break if you want to Toxic or Burn stall it.

Weakness Policy Minior!!!

Anyway, so I've got to the point where I've gotten both flutes and am off to see the Magic Lion... played the game for 58 hrs now, which consisted of a bit of breeding and messing around on Poké Pelago and letting my mons get slaughtered in Royal Dome for free BP (regret it, took ages + Pelago ignorance lol) ... Going to finally evolve my Charjabug and get a Jangmo-o for my team. Bred lots of Sunchro Abras so can get the nature I need for it. Plus a Timid Espeon for synchro-ing an Alolan Vulpix.

Did the Double Battle Tree normal:

Worst Pokemon experience of my life:

Team:

Pheromosa (Focus Sash)
Guzzlord (Assault Vest)
Mimikyu (Normalium Z)
Magneton (Eviolite)

My Ultra Beasts started off.

Battles 1 and 2 were fine, after that I was put through hell.

3 - 15 my opponents always started off with a Thunder Wave user (to slow down Pheromosa) or a Fairy type (for Guzlord), sometimes even both except for one all Water team.

16 - Staller Muk took forever to kill until it ran out of PP for all its moves except Swallow allowing me to actually kill it.

17 - Sent me against an Intimidate Staraptor and an Intimidate Salamence, forcing me to completely switch out into Magneton and Mimikyu and almost lose the match due to that loss of a turn.

18 - Against an Ice only team. Hi Jump Kick decided to miss out of all places when it worked so well for me before which quickly took out Pheromosa, Guzzlord died really easy due to a 2 on 1 Ice Assault. Then after a comeback seemed possible for Mimikyu and Magneton both got Frozen by a Fridge-Rotom Blizzard :banghead:

The AI specifically sets up teams to counter your team. When I ran through Doubles with Kartana and Buzzwole as my lead, it spammed Talonflame.

Not quite sure what type of team I want to run for the Battle Tree just yet, seems like a tough deal...

As much as choosing serious competitive teams will give me some success... I kinda want to try a few things out with my soon to be Elite 4 team:

PHYS - Decidueye {{ GRS/GHS }}
SPEC - Vikavolt {{ BUG/ELC }}
SPEC - Ninetales {{ ICE/FRY }}
PHYS - Talonflame {{ FRE/FLY }}
PHYS - Kommo-o {{ DRG/FGH }}
SPEC - ummmm... forgot! lol

Figured I try something new. Already have my evasion Umbreon as a toxic staller. Not to mention I got my Spheal like this, so I want to make use of it.

Not to mention it can go hand in double battles with HA Ninetales once I get my hands on it, especially since it can know Aurora Veil. 3 x the healing thanks to Aqua Ring and Ice Body with Aurora Veil protection.

I don't get the set up at all, unless you have something to set up this and then either u turn out or just simply switch out these heals are conditional. And the only heal that isn't is the item...

Decidueye is Grass/Ghost.

I'd make that last slot a stall or tank like Gigalith or Pyukumuku.

Yeah gonna edit that, mind wandered to an Alolan Muk + Shedinja lead hence the confused bug typing error...

Bit worried about the Rock weakness I have in my team, and the sets I run will be slightly surprising, but I'll get to those once I finish work. That said, most of these guys are centered around taking hits and whittling the opponent down.

I don't get what you said after set up :confused:

Hey, does anyone have a Politoed, Weavile, Scizor, or Slowking I could do a touch trade with in Sun? Those are all I need left to complete my Dex!

Does it? I thought you could only get it from Jangmo-o. Problem is that it's a 5% chance to spawn, then a 5% chance for Jangmo-o to hold it. :(
However when you S.O.S battle the Jangmo-o, they can add up to a Kommo-o which Kommo-o have a 50/50 chance of holding one.
