In real life I do know the EVO X walks all over the 2011 WRX STi. Many road test / reviews have confirmed this. It's actually not even really close as the EVO X straight
out dominates it.

Also as I've mentioned in another thread a stock 2011 WRX STi does not run 7:55 at the Nurb Ring not even close. The STi used for that 7:55 run was FAR from stock.

To give you an example of how quick a 7:55 really is the E92 BMW M3 and Porsche Cayman S run 8:05 - 8:06. A stock STi isn't getting anywhere that kind of time. Realistically it might run about 8:25 at best.

The only area the STi might win against the EVO is in interior quality. You don't have to take my word for it as there are plenty of reviews out there.

And if you really love driving the EVO is a no brainer.

Well, the X is unfortunately the last Evo, so I'd enjoy it while it lasts.

I care less if the X is the last EVO as I'm not in the market for one.

I'm looking at getting a 11' Porsche Cayman later this year / early next.

STi 22B

QUOTE]

That's not a 22b - that looks to be an STi Version 5 two door with a 22b style front bar. It lacks the pumped out guards to identify it as a 22b.

This is a 22b below:

One of only 425 built.

I generally prefer the Evo range over the Impreza STi range......with the exception of the 22b. That things is as close to owning a road legal WRCar as you'll get with the exclusivity to match.

But I will always have a sweet spot for the Lancer Evo IV-V-VI series. Tommi Makinen proved their worth as a base for world championship-winning rally cars, plus they look fantastic.

In my ideal world, my garage would contain an Evo 5 and a 22b - both magnificant rally rockets released in 1998, a vintage year.

Subie all day long. In game in life. The exhaust note from that boxer is awesome by comparison to the evo. Ntm but top mount intercooler and body styling, screams of beast, need I say more. Evo earlier body style is tight but the new stuff looks weak IMO. Nil
Exhaust note with lower mount ic.

subaru's are faster around the top gear track when stig'ed

that and I have a wrx . . . wouldn't mind owning a evo MR though . . .

We are having our championship battle tonight, and its exactly the same theme: Evo vs Wrx

Most of us are choosing the subby, lol

I like the Subi better just because... when I host a room I will throw in an Impreza vs EVO round with recommended cars every now and again and it almost always proves to be a great race!

i choose suby. its just so sick

on the other hand, imo evo 9 was the best evo made, evo 10 looks like a boat,

and i wasnt too happy about the hatchback sti, but they brought back the wing this year so im satisfied.

Always been a Subaru Fanboy, but III-VI Generations are HHHNNNGGGG worthy.

22B, the king of the STi's.

Gen VI, the golden years.

This is almost exactly how I feel. I don't like how the Lancer 7 and the rest after that look. I like all the Lancers before them though. I like all of the Imprezas that came out though. Plus if you own one, the Lancer is going to get stolen way quicker than the Impreza.

The Rex handles better IMO, but i prefer the look of the EVo...

I got both the Racing Mods of the WRX & the Evo, (2005 versions if i remember correctly)... And they are both very sexy vehicles.

Me personally I love the looks of the evo 9 & 10. But in game I use the STi because it is the better performing car of the two. Now if the game had a premium version of the 22b, it would destroy ALL of the AWD cars in game.

P.S. Incase it isn't obvious I voted for the STi.

I apologize, I'm not too good at pointing out the differences between IV, V, and VI.

No worries mate, I can't pick the difference between the Evo VIII and IX. But because I was so heavily into watching the WRC when Tommi Makinen was dominating, I grew to adore the IV, V and VI in particular.

I'm a fan of the GC8 series Impreza - the 'bug-eye' version from 2000 looked lik it wasn't just hit with the ugly stick, it was beaten into unconsciousness..... They improved it in 2003 but then lost it again when the current model was first released in the hatchback. it looked like some kind of cheap Korean hatchback, not an all-wheel drive, turbocharged hero car. I agree with you about the larger body of the Evo VII - it just 'lost it' as far as I was concerned. That and it was a dog of a rally car in the WRC compared to the illustrious history of the Evo III-VI cars.

I think the lack of the 22B as a Premium is an appalling decision. Sure it was a limited edition but it was arguably the high point of the GC8 series. It was also good enough for Colin McRae and Nicky Grist to be given a car each by Subaru. But then again there are a heap of cars that should have been premiums that aren't (all the R32, R33 and R34 Skyline GT-Rs, considering that each has a Premium model in the dealership, but I digress....) I am still trying to find a GC8 Impreza STi Version V 2-door but I have not yet found one in the UCD (if they even exist). The closest I have is the GC8 Impreza STi Version VI 2-door that I used my 22B paint chip on to try to replicate one of the 400 Version V's that were imported into Australia from Japan in 1999.

wrc drivers champs: subi 3, mitsu 4
wrc manufacturers champs: subi 3 mistu 1

6:5

more telling would probably be that all 4 of mitsu's drivers champs are Tommi Mäkinen while Subi's are all won by different drivers. (more the driver than the machine? ;) )

anyways, they are both great lines of cars.

personally I think the subi's are a tad better (see my earlier post)

No more Lan-evo after 2013
Yeah !

When the Evo goes the WRX/STI will be close behind. Hopefully the FIA will bring back the more powerful rally cars and the Subarus and Mitsubishis can take part. With modern safety standards the cars should be able to become more powerful, not less.

It was also good enough for Colin McRae and Nicky Grist to be given a car each by Subaru.

They may have given him a foot in, but here Colin says he had to buy it himself. Still got a prototype so obviously he didn't just flat out go buy one but still an interesting fact I thought.

from what i recently read, the lancer is apparently being brought back in a new light? like an EV or something. idk. ill try for a link later. xD

but yea, the 22b and evo 6 are clearly the favorites amongst here. however in my case, i find the evo 6 to be better. i will admit it was due to makinen that it had its success (for the most part) but the ride and the driver just made for a fantastic year. :)

The Evo's have always been a bit more hard core than the WRX, witch has realy come out in the more reciant cars. Around 2005 both cars were bacicly identical in preformace but the WRX has goten a little lazy in recent years. The WRX has adopted almost a hach-back persinality.

I voted for the Subaru. The early-to-mid 2000 Subies were eyesores, but the current generation Impreza has thankfully gotten back to what made the late-'90s Subarus look good.

On an entirely personal note, I find it mind-boggling that the term "Arch-Rivals" was applied to anything other than Mustang vs. Camaro.....

Like I said, it's because of rally. Imprezas and Lancers used to be big rivals, however apparently Imprezas have fallen behind now.

Note that GT5 has a very distinct European influence. I've even seen the game use the term "petrolhead".

That said, though, it would've been nice to have a trophy and a race for the old baby boomer muscle cars. Mustang (both the 71 and hopefully the Transcammer.. I hate the darn fastback :grumpy:), Camaro, and Challenger.
Either that or pit their modern-day versions against each other. The trophy could be called "Reigniting the Baby Boomers" or something like that.

After I posted in this thread I went and took a look at the master car list on this site. On that list they claim that the 22b is a standard car is this game! Ever since I have been checking the UCD like a mad man lol.
Does anyone have a 22b that can confirm this?
