Exactly, you don't see the value in normal cars. A person can buy ANY console racing game in order to drive race cars and exotics. GT has ALWAYS been a 'driving', not 'racing' simulator. The types of cars you'd like to see gone are the types of cars which make the GT series unique

We'd be cool if you'd stop telling PD they 'need' to get rid of cars I like.

No sir, this is not what I'm saying. Mostly, I was referring to the many, many duplicates and multiples of +/- the exact same car ie: the Mazda MX5/Miata, Nissan Skyline, etc.

And whenever a new track is introduced to the series ie: Spa Francorchamps, I always "tour" the track in an "average", normal everyman's car. So, I definitely see their value.

But I must say, the GT series features more than a few "normal" cars that are utter rubbish to drive. Chief among which is the Prius. Even with sporty tires, that thing drives like it's on ice! It's these types are cars --whether they be standard or premium-- that I feel are expendable. :)

I do not care for the Prius either but think about how many people out there may have one in real life. They probably would not be very happy if their real life car was removed from the game.

It doesn't drive that bad either.

I'm not a fan of the multiples, either. But I like that the prius is in the game, gives me a chance to DRIVE a car I might not otherwise drive in real life, just to see what it's like.

GT is a DRIVING, not 'racing' simulator.

and all the work surrounding them has already been performed. It's not as if by getting rid of them that an asset is freed up to spend on making cars that YOU approve of.

This man knows đź‘Ť

I'm very thankful to PD by learning the odd cars, the kei-cars from Japan, the cars I've owned and the cars I would like to own in the near future and are realistic for me to own some day. Without the GT series I could never heard about the Mitsubishi FTO for example, when I see this car in real life, I think about GT and the hours/days I spent to understand this car (example).

It's not about driving Supercars and drifting all the way. No. It's about driving in different kind of cars, from FF's to AWD's. From low powered wall-mart-vehicles to the masters of the Green Hell (8 minutes or less). I would like to understand what it means to play with the weight balances on the small vehicles and race with them in small online tournaments. The VW Lupo Cup is the best example, but also cars like the Pontiac Solstice concept or the Alfa 147 GTA.

The whole GT-series would be pointless for me without these kind of cars, premium or not, they have to be in GT !! If I evaluate the use of supercars versus every-day vehicles I've been driven in GT1 to GT5, it's about 20% supercar experience and 80% of the daily-vehicles. That's GT for me !!

At the point that we are at in the technological realm, there shouldn't be a "top notch" game company releasing its premier title with two classes of cars. Blame it on time, the power of the PS3, or what have you, but its a bit old and dissapointing to me that we should have to even choose an answer to this thread. Its like being told that you get a huge family portrait package but 80% of the pictures have to be polaroids. It's old, outdated, and there is better technology out there. Give it to us.

That is: if it were up to you, what would you do with standard cars in GT6?

Hey pal, where you been hiding.
Don't you know there won't be any "standard" cars in GT6.

They're all just cars.

Yamauchi: "GT6 will have 200 new cars more than GT5. There are premium cars, but we are not going to differentiate between premium and standard cars anymore when we move on to GT6 because we aim to get rid of all the functional differences between the two. They will now have the same functions. More or less anyway".

Nevermind those graphical differences. "More or less anyway".

Standards will probably look a lot better with the adaptive tesselation. And as it has been confirmed that they are nearly the same feature wise, I think there should be no reason to trash them. The only real missing feature will be cockpit view.

My opinion: Drop the standards entirely. Many games out there lose cars after going to a new platform or new version of the game so losing cars is expected. But having a quality and feature split, with game play that was broken requiring the patches as in GT5 is inexcusable. Especially for a developer like PD.
I would wait for some standards I like to go premium but if they don't make it, so be it. There's some cars that have never made it into the GT franchise that should have, and I'm not even referring to the Porsches. Iconic cars like the BMW E30 M3!!

Same here :)

- VW Lupo GTI + cup
- Caterham
- Mitsu Mirage Cyborg ....
- Seat Ibiza Cupra
- Solstice Concept
- DeLorean

And many many more :)

one of my favourite standards is the Tommy Kaira ZZ-II, it's great to know it will be in GT6 again

I remember that the Mirage Cyborg would come up in a specific race in GT4 and just destroy everyone. I hated that damn car...

Keep them as collectibles for an in-game virtual museum but never put them on track.

Why?

That makes no sense. Just because you don't want to drive them doesn't mean everyone else agrees.

Oh and for whoever said the Prius shouldn't be in, it's one of my favorites to drive.

How does it make no sense? The thread is about what I would do were it up to me, I don't care whether you like it or not.

It makes no sense because if you don't like them, you can just choose not to drive them.

Not ban them from the entire game and ruin it for the people who do use them.

Was I not clear enough that your opinion on the matter is irrelevant? Right now it's my decision and I want them gone for my reasons. Feel free to type your decision according with the thread and do whatever it is you want to do. No decision can ever please everyone.

You know it's getting bad when you are not even allowed to get rid of standards in a hypothetical situation.

When you go to a restaurant, do you ask them to stop serving all of the dishes you don't enjoy?

Because that's what you're arguing right now.

It makes NO SENSE.

You are the one arguing, not me. The thread said I was to decide and it's what I did. Whether my decision makes sense to you or not is not really my problem.

But is there any reasoning behind it other then "it's my decision"?

Of course there is reasoning, I don't do it just to be spiteful but from past experiences, I doubt most people would agree so I find it pointless to even try. Take it or leave it.

It takes two to tango.

Nice, so it's just bait, which is what it seems like to me.

You can call it however you like but the thread didn't specifically say you have to provide valid arguments to back up your hypothetical decision and I'm not the one going around saying people's opinion on a hypothetical situation may hypothetically hurt others.

I really don't know what else to say, If you don't like my opinion feel free to ignore it. If it hurt you or anybody else in any way I'm sorry. Over and out.

The thread doesn't say you have to breathe either, but you're doing that, right?

We are asking you to justify your opinion.

You can ask, but not everyone is willing to support their opinions with facts, reason or logic and the truth is, many opinions are not supportable by reason. I want what I want because I want it, is about all you get sometimes.

Did you ask Kaz to justify his decision to keep standards? No? Because that is basically what this thread is, pretend you're Kaz. There is no need to justify a hypothetical decision.

Someone who wants to keep standards doesn't have to justify their decision because it makes logical sense.

Someone who wants to remove them from the game (rather than just choosing not to use them) does not make sense.

You're just trying to force your own beliefs down everyone's throat. No, keeping horrible PS2 quality cars on a high profile PS3 game doesn't make logical sense to everyone, hence the 34 people on the poll.
