Did Kaz answer any of the questions in the question thread?
Sorry for OT, I can't find anything.

They will likely be the four F1 tracks - Silverstone, Nurburgring GP/F, Monza and Suzuka (since, presumably this all happened before the inclusion of Red Bull Ring last week).
GT's Monza and Suzuka are old, so is the GP Strecke of Nurburgring.

Nope. And that's quite OT
Shocking.. one mention of FIA partnership and suddenly wild speculation about what content everyone wants to see.
Hey, it's GTP, what did you really expect? Once the hype train takes off, the wishlists come out.

Nurburging and LeMans aren't laser scanned in GT6 right? Hopefully this means PD will go back and completely recreate these tracks for PS4. Laguna Seca is in much need of an overdued remake.

Ish. Bernie Eccles Cakes though.

Better start saving for GT7 if F1 comes, the price will be off the charts for a game!

Also, how about a new soundtrack compliments of Bernie's friend JB.

Partnership doesn't automatically mean licenses and content, remember.
Exactly.
It's PD we are talking.
To me seems like Sony paid some big dollars for this FIA pr media marketing thing.

What we need to know is what this "FIA Online Championship" really is?
A sort of GT Accademy called with another name? If that's the case YAWN.

zOMG!!!111 KAZ PRoMISES US EVervy car Fromz f1, GT1,2,3,4, WTCC, WRC!!!

No, but seriously expectations need to be kept realistic!

It's all nice to have recognition, but I can't see it changing anything. Basically the tracks are faithful reproductions, here have a cookie.

From the news:

FIA & PDI plan to launch an official FIA Online Championship in 2015 with the intention of offering the large number of Gran Turismo players and motor sport fans the opportunity to engage with real motor sport.

It'll be a new FIA championship that uses Gran Turismo as an architecture/structure, instead of real cars, real circuits (and real costs)

Lol. Cheers mate. I'm not so active on here anymore. After finding out about the FIA partnership via Facebook I wondered of Kaz has come through on his statement to answer questions.

Oh well. FIA and maintenance is hype worthy I suppose.

Is there an FIA sanctioned event held at Laguna Seca? This could mean a fall off in American racing content, to some degree. Wouldn't really bother me, but it would seem logical since the FIA only sanctions two races on US soil, to my knowledge.

Stop focusing on this bringing new cars! It's MUCH bigger than that! This is FIA officials actually getting their hands dirty with online racing for the first time ever! This is breaking entirely new grounds.

This is (potentially) PD making new tools for the FIA in order to run championships to their standard and will be to the benefit of regular people who run online series as they'll (hopefully) have access to the same toolset. This is the FIA promoting Gran Turismo online racing through a huge world-wide media portal. This is Gran Turismo's eSport arrival. This is our current top drivers', only known to us (unless they became GT Academy champions), chances to become professional Gran Turismo 6 players and being flown around the world to compete in tournaments! This is going to stimulate GT's online competitive community like nothing else has ever stimulated anything like it before. This is a big deal and I could go on forever about it.

So now with that said and you guys being on the right train of thought, I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

This was my first thought. Not sure how far they will take it. My guess it will be a bit like how iRacing and NASCAR work together. Have a bunch of races, champion get taken to a real race as a spectator and gets some crash + trophy.

Outside of that, as an "eSport" ( I hate the term ) the racing side isn't very developed compared to the FPS side. IMHO I hope they stay clear of making it an "eSport" and push it more as a "simulation" or "poor mans" FIA.

COTA is the only FIA active U.S race track to my knowledge.

Someone correct me if my brain's broken.

Maybe we'll see flags added and the new "slow zone" they've been using this year in a number of different leagues. The possibilities are endless with this new partnership! I'm really excited to see what comes down the line! GT6 might have had a rocky start, but the future of GT6 and Gran Turismo overall is going to be amazing!

Online gaming is becoming a big money event. League of Legends sold out the staples center and gamers are getting work visa's like pro athletes. It wouldn't surprise me if it will be some kind of virtual racing league type thing. Again this is only speculation but to have the FIA involved could easily push it in that direction considering they regulate almost everything relating to international motorsports.

FIA has more involvement than you think. Even NASCAR has FIA ties...

And the complain brigade. (No, I am not complaining)

🤬 eSport...... Associating video games with sport. It's so dumb...

Just page the fighting game brigade community, they can help you separate the racing sim scene with eSports, just like the FGC did. /s 💡

Totally agree, I only used eSport as a catch all, lack of a better term, thing. What I really mean is that this has the potential to develop an entertaining package for a lot more people (not just players) to be interested in watching online races. It seems corny to think about right now, but things change, and I can't wait to see it.

I think the Certified tracks are Spa, Le Mans, Silverstone and Red Bull Ring, just going by the FIA site, and the tracks in GT6 that are newly modeled.

The WTCC races at Sonoma.
I was thinking the Daytona 24 and Petit Le Mans (Road Atlanta) were FIA events, but they do not appear to be.

Ok FIA cool but, can normal players have some normal fun with improved online racing?
Do they give me new FIA official championships or they pretend we use the same content we already have and be happier because FIA acknowloged Gran Turismo? :)

Is this related to the FIA or again something Formula one only.
It is FIA sanctioned because as well as F1 and it's support races using the circuit, the historic GP, WRC (albeit partially) and now Formula E use or have used the circuit.

With backing from the FIA PD have some extra leverage to get licences for cars, series and tracks. Obtaining the WEC and GT3/GTE licences could also put pressure on Porsche to change their current policy (it wouldn't look good for all the other cars in those series to appear except for their cars).

Speculation aside, I think this will bring more tracks in the near future, but probably not much else.

And dat's the one I couldn't think of. Ta 👍
