Just a thought: weren't Turn 10 not allowed to show any pictures of Porsches to promote Forza? I distinctly recall them revealing Porsches without showing any pictures. Couldn't this embargo be affecting PD, as well?

I honestly can't see how one can be a fan of Ruf and not like Porsche & vice versa.

That's like saying screw the regular GT-R, I want Mine's!

It was just a joke! I love Porsche (even though Lamborghini and Ferrari was my first). I start liking Ruf after seeing the Yellow Bird back in 2003, it doesn't mean I hate Porsche!

P.S. Hope Kaz is looking on this site to see how the fans really want Porsche.

Correct. Codemasters had the same issue but to a far greater extent.

My 2 cents: EA is doing everything in its power to push as many NFS titles as possible, even though the quality of the series has been on a steep decline for many years. Therefore I can see EA doing everything they can to boost NFS sales, including hording the Porsche license for themselves to make Porsche vehicles NFS exclusives. Now, of course there are exceptions, such as GRID and Forza 3, but developers for both games officially stated that EA set strict guidelines for using the license. Especially in GRID, where it is only possible to drive the GT3 in Quick Race mode and only in certain events. It is not available in career mode.

Give it up EA, the last great NFS title was Porsche Unleashed. You wanna make NFS great again then go back to its roots and give up this whole simulation/ricer/tuner wannabe garbage and stick to plain and simple exotic arcade based racing. /end rant :irked:

I do believe Hot Pursuit 2 came after Porsche Unleashed, and while it wasn't as good, it featured stunning track design and wonderful cars. Oh, and progression that was nearly as good (except for the CL550 event, obviously). So while not the greatest, it was a great title.

I'd like to see a company not 'follow the trends'. Forza and to a lesser extent NFS are doing this now; just chuck in a ton of tracks and a ton of cars and hope it all works itself out. That might be OK, but they're up against a franchise known for throwing over 9000 tons of tracks, cars and skylines at the player. They're playing a numbers game, and they don't have a hope in hell.

So, they're not able to pull the carpet bomb style GT game, and they've lost the precision picks of the earlier NFS titles, now there's somewhere uncomfortably in the middle.

EDIT: On topic

935 or GTFO

Guys all the visual tuning is optional in NFS (well not in underground 2 it wasn't...). I love need for Speed Prostreet :P

On topic:

I definetly want the Carrera GT. Although the RUF CTR3 would be the next best thing.

NFS went down after the 7th iteration, just to follow the fad then i.e. the FnF scene.

Still, MW was a better game, and so was Undercover. But none of them come parallel to the greatness of HS in it's time.

Let's hope after the license for EA expires, PD get the license immediately and put all the emphasis on making Porsches, Porsches, Porsches and more Porsches for the next 3 months.

FnF still own NFS.At least in terms of the star cars they produce.

I don't recall MW being that good,I didn't really like the graphics, and a story twice as long as GT4(for 100% completion).

Seeing as EA have had the license since Porsche Unleashed, I'm guessing it's expired a few times already & just been re-licensed over the last 10 years.

So, will Porsche refuse the renewal this time around and give the license to PD?

I'd hope that even if the license deal with EA is renewed, that Porsche will find it in their interest to add a 'Must sell a sub-license to PD if they request one' clause.

IMO, they'd be in better hands with PD and Turn 10 anyhow.

They own the license to use their vehicles in-game, and how many Porsche's are in NFS MW, Carbon, Pro Street and Shift?

A handful, that's how many. A handful.

Good riddance, if you ask me.

Good point. There is only 3 in Pro street, 2 of them are 997s and the other is a Cayman... Not sure how many are in shift though.

The count is as follows...

NFS ProStreet: 6 (3 additional offered in the Booster Pack)
NFS Shift: 5
NFS Most Wanted: 5
NFS Undercover: 4 (5, if you brought the Collector's Edition)
NFS Carbon: 4

That 25 in total (theoretically), Forza 3 has 4/5 more cars than all five games combined. :odd:

It all depends. Technically, EA can still renew and allow PD to use the license as well under a sub-license (i.e. FM3). However, whoever is willing to throw the cash at Porsche, & I'm betting EA, will probably get Porsche's "support".

Forgot the RSR but i listed all of the ones availiable in career mode

Well, if you're doing that the total number "available" is going to decrease. Which leads me to the following...

...They're not getting any sort of representation with EA, at all. How many times can EA use the same cars over and over again? I can't remember, let alone I don't even think the 996 GT2 has been in any NFS game, and I love that car.

If you notice in PSP GT, the Porsche brand is mentioned without problems in one of the driving challenge on the circuit of de la sarthe and in the descriptions of some cars. For example, in that of the GT-R(35) V-spec, the various Rufs and if I remember correctly in that of the S2000 LM.

Maybe a small clue from PD? In the other games I'm sure that they mentioned "... a famous German brand" or something like that.

^ I don't want to be doubtful; but if you can provide a pic, my tensions will ease off. :scared:

Here^^
(sorry for the italian language :P)

Nissan GT-R V-spec '09
http://i50.tinypic.com/oi8uus.jpg
In the end says that the GT-R can be compared to the same category of cars which include the Porsche GT2 and GT3.

Ruf CTR Yellow Bird '87
http://i48.tinypic.com/k150nb.jpg
It says that the Yellow Bird is based on the Porsche 911 and towards the end says that mounts a Bosch Motronic fuel injection system customized by Porsche.

That might not mean anything since it is a real circuit, but in the driving mission G-6 are mentioned the Porsche curves of de la Sarthe.
