I was wrong

From IGN

"Porsche will very likely not appear in Gran Turismo 5. Kazunori was disappointed by this fact, but according to our interview, Porsche already signed an exclusive deal for a different game and it's highly unlikely the brand will appear in Polyphony Digital's upcoming hit. Perhaps Porsche will show up in a future GT title."

but IMO that still means no.

I agree it seems like it's a 90% no, but then again, I consider PD to be just as fickle as Brett Favre when making decisions. (And this is coming from a Packer fan who still roots for #4)

-> ...
One of these days a documentary will be made explaining why Porsche opted out of GT games.
^ I've always wanted to watch that 3-hour movie. :dunce::dopey:

~> I wanted to see the conspiracy between 2 (or 3 or more) parties regarding about Porsche licensing towards PD. Just like Who Killed the Electric Car and The Inconvenient Truth. Maybe it could win The International Film Awards or an Oscar.:sly::scared::indiff:

why are people soo worried about porsche. there more than just porshce that is missing. like saab, saturn, jeep, kia and like abunch more

Porsche is really the only major brand left that has a large racing/sports car history. Sure those brands would be nice, but wouldn't add to the game the way a 911 would.

Picture GT without the Ring. It's kind of hard to right! That's what it feels like not to have Porsche in the game at this point. They have played an integral role in automotive sports car/racing history and need to be present in a game of GT's caliber. No question. Maybe PD will pull a rabbit out of their butt and shock us all...

^ It was the same dilemma back in GT4 when people kept on asking about Lamborghini, Porsche, and Ferarri (LamPorFerra). Because of Porsche's uncanny involvement in the racing. Plus, most Porsche's are unique in their own way. :)

...like Saab, Saturn, Jeep, Kia and like a bunch more
^ Like Koeniggsegg, Zenvo, Daewoo, Proton, Ascari, Gumpert, SSC, Ariel, Rossion, and the like. Thats my Vehicle Wish List is for. :)

^ So far, Maserati is on a 80/20 ratio, far better odds compared to Porsche:

:)

-> Please don't tell me if there is not an indication the Maserati will be in GT5. :dopey:

Hm. For what good reason are they taking photos of the underside of the trunk?

I never said there wasn't good odds it was going to be in (though pin-pointing exact odds is... odd :P), but it hasn't been yet, so you missed it from the little list of manufacturers.

And yes I have seen those pics (from the todarrinhudson blog) among all the other proof many times.

Is that a microphone in there?

Yes, PD takes sound levels from many places around the car.

I'm sick and I'm bored...So I'll post more pics since I can't really leave my bed today.

I would love to see Saab in there! I won't be greedy, just need a Viggen and a Tubo X! Oh and an '04 9-3 SS:

^mine as you may have guessed lol :sly: Don't hate me!

Back to thread relevancy, I do not think that Porsche will make it into GT5. Just my opinion based on what I've read. If they are included then that would be great ... but I'm not holding my breath.

I can't see RUF being taken off the list though if Porsche isn't included, since they were in GT4.

Here's why. No offense to Saab and the rest, but it's machinery like this that shows Porsche's significance to motorsport history.

(yes, I'm quoting all of the pics because the GM-ified Saab offends my eyeballs, no offense to the owner.)

No argument from me about importance to motor sport history! ;)

But it seems some people would rather see a game full of historic race cars, while others would prefer to see more present day era car manufacturers and models represented in the game ... but that's another thread completely. :)

Porsche is both historic and a present day manufacturer that's still a force to be reckoned with at the racetracks & in the street.

Among their notable wins in 2009:

Overall win at 24h of Daytona
LMP2 class victory at Le Mans
ALMS GT2 championship

There's not a lot of manufacturers can match that kind of pedigree, and especially so, if we're talking about companies that are currently not represented in GT.

I'm sorry, but that's about as an amazing achievement as Corvette winning GT1 in ALMS repeatedly; they had very little to no competition during the whole race.

I thoroughly enjoy the driving the race cars in GT,

BUT ... I bet you there will be more street cars then race cars in GT5. That's what the GT series has been about - the real driving simulator, with the majority of the vehicles being street cars. In that spirit I would rather see more manufacturers included. I admit though I'm not gonna moan if they slip some Porsche race cars in there. ;)

I don't think that a manufacturer's inclusion should be based on if they have a length racing pedigree.

If all you want is race cars then try GTR 2. 👍

Who said all I wanted was race cars? I can list out a bunch of Porsche road cars that deserve to be in GT.

The 356, 550, 911, 914, 944 Turbo, 928 GTS, 959 amongst many more.

And maybe a manufacturer's inclusion is not based on racing pedigree, but it certainly doesn't hurt that they have kick ass cars (both on the track & on the street). Having both makes Porsche a hell of a lot more desirable than Kia, Jeep, & Saturn being included.

I'm sure PD would want to add Porsche, but it's up to Porsche to allow them too. If they allowed EA to put it in their constant downhill Need For Speed (Come back Most Wanted!), I'm sure they'll allow PD.

Well put!

You seem to be a Porsche fan / enthusiast, which one is your favorite? (race or street)
