Sorry, but I remain fairly unconvinced about the prospect of Porsche in GT5.

Me too... All my optimism has dwindled away, if it doesn't get announced soon (or shown) Then i doubt we will see them in the game at all.

if porsche was going to be in GT5, i think they already would have sneaked a famous Porsche racecar like a 917 or GT1 into one of their teaser viedos... as much as it pains me to say this, i doubt porsche will be in GT5... but theres always RUF to look forward to!

Not saying RUF's are bad but that don't really compare to a 917, 956, 962, 911 GT1, in fact just a 911 there just not the same at all.

I would love to see porsche added to this edition, as I would want nothing more then to go head to head on the test course with a Carrera GT, F458, ZR1, Lamborgini and ACR.
I'm still keeping the faith, as KY has already surprised us with a few things.

👍

It's "improved" Porsches, as interpreted by RUF. So it's not the exact same thing as having the original concepts. Like all the 911's, the first turbo 930, the "other" Porsches like the 968, 914, 944 (like them or not) and the classics (speedster, 356) the RS specials (carrera RS) and many brilliant full racing models (won't even start naming), the supercars (Carrera GT, the iconic 959) up to the latest 911 and other models (Cayman and Boxster), including also the "extravaganzas" Cayene and Panamera.

But still, better to have some RUF and/or other "manufacturers" cars, than no kind of Porsche at all.

RUF fills the billed and it costs GT next to nothing compared with obtaining the Porsche license. Doubt you'll see Porsche at all, and really, its not a massive loss considering the substitute.

RUF is good, really good, but if GT5 does not include Porsche, we will be missing the old classics and the race cars.
RUF is better than nothing and they may even outperform real Porsche cars, but they are not Porsche. RUF cars look similar to Porsches, but are completely different as fas as handling, performence and sound are concerned. RUF is more than just a tuner.

The reason why Porsche would be great is because of the legacy and the classic Porsche cars.

I don't expect Porsche to be in GT5.

I can't agree... some 10 RUF cars at most is in no way a substitute to the Porsche legacy. If you just limit to current models, the "classic" and iconic Porsches in history, leaving out racing cars, and you make a "must include" list you get some 30/40 cars at least. 10 of them alone being 911's that represent each generation and/or benchmark in the models long life.

There is no substitute, but would better than nothing...

EDIT: Actually we should have Porsche AND RUF and other manufacturer/tuners as we have Spoon, Mugen etc

EDIT2:
Am sure GT will have the Beetle again. Is that not the same thing?
Yes, brilliant! Hey, why don't they leave all beemers out and just put in the Isetta?

PD needs to keep something secret on the car front, we already know a couple of new major brands are in; Bugatti (Veyron), Ferrari, Lamborghini.
Maybe they are just waiting to surprise us with the announcement that Porsche are in :sly:

I can't believe that I'm writing a post about DLC for the 3rd time in a day, but... If Porsche does change their mind (Electronic Arts), this generation does offer a possibility.

~> Wow, IRL (Indy Racing league) is now confirmed or should we say, exposed...

-> Since I have a feeling that PD has been feeding us with tiny info by the drop-full. And so some awkward reason, PD has been holding up with MAJOR info's up until to the last minute. So will it be the same with the unveiling of Porsche as we get closer-and-closer to the release date? I wonder...

It will never happen, just close this thread

Ok then

Even after todays revelations I still have 0% confidence in PD getting Porsche into GT. The more I think about it the more I realize how MASSIVE a chunk it is missing from the game and how little RUF does to fill it :boggled: God bless you RUF.

I really don't like Porsches anyway, this has never been a deal for me. Can't you guys just pretend the RUFs have a Porsche badge on them?

When it contains historic models from 356 through first 911's, 959, all the 911's of 90's and from new millenium, carrera GT and lot of racecars including rally and le mans cars, that's bunch of about 100 or more cars. And I'll happilly pay for it.

Excellent news about the lambo's I didn't know that, thanks.

I'm going to guess no, because RUF don't produce any models like this:

Carrera GT + 959

Just bring them.

I believe that Porsches will be with us in GT6, so PD can make a 911 turbo 998 cover, or perhaps the Carrera GT sucessor.

The 959 is a halo supercar, and Carrera GT is...well, the only reason to play need for speed most wanted, overtaking SLRs and hearing the rageful note from the engine.....:) ......let's wait till GT6 is out, meanwhile, I can drive F458 Italia, Gallardo, Murcielago SV, Veyron..( Maybe LFA, and MP4-12C? as concepts of course ), every car is interesting when you race at The Ring...

What RUF do you propose we pretend to be the 917 Le Mans racer, or the 962 Le Mans race. Unfortunately RUF don't do versions of these famous racing machines, not even close. Porsche have the most successful racing history in Le Mans ever, considering Le Mans featured pretty majorly in GT4, not having Porsche in that line up, is like missing Ferrari from a formula 1 game.

To Porschephiles & Porsche owners, Ruf is just one small branch of the family tree. They are special cars, no doubt about that. But then again, so are the 356 AR, 718, 904 GTS, the 901, the R/ST/RS/RSR family, etc.

It would be ideal to have them both.
