Well put!

You seem to be a Porsche fan / enthusiast, which one is your favorite? (race or street)

My 1984 Carrera (RoW). :)

In all seriousness, that's a tough one.

Street - tie between the 904 Carrera GTS & the 911 (any generation)

Race - tie between the 2 racing giants, the 917 & the 956/962

My new modern favorites - 993 Turbo, 928 GTS, & the Cayman S.

I'm hoping PD has some Porsches ready to go into the game in case the contracts somehow sway in their favor before release (i.e. Porsche/EA contract expires and is not renewed) I don't have my hopes up.

I'm thinking DLC will be rare given some of Kaz's statements but if they pop anything into the game post-release I think it would be Porsche.. assuming EA collapses or Porsche is liberated somehow.

Porsche is without a doubt the most important marque missing from the GT franchise by many many miles. Ruf is an OK substitute but holy cow.

Let's not forget this (I now it is still a 911 but... a completely different level apart!)

Updating the matter of contacting Porsche and in succession Electronic Arts, I'm afraid I have to report that EA never sent me an answer on the subject. EA Germany hasn't responded at all, and at EA headquarters I was passed on from one to the next person and back, but never fed with any content.

So kudos to Porsche Germany again for giving a substantial answer, and thumbs down for EA for failing to do so completely. 👎

For those who have no idea what has happened yet: >click<

As I've said many times before, once the act of re-licensing comes around, Porsche should just flat out say "No, thank you, we prefer developers who actually feature more than a handful of our cars as opposed to said handful being featured in your titles again, and again, and again."

Give it to T10 and PD they'll use them correctly, well, T10 already does...all that's left is PD now.

Somehow, I'm not suprised EA didn't give you the answer you wanted.

Does anyone know if theres any way to obtain copies of contracts?

I know that you can obtain financial information about any registered company/firm/business in the UK, but i don't know anything about contractual agreements. Anyone got any ideas?

Hmm... theres this thing in the UK called the freedom of information act... don't know about Germany or the US though... (Actually i'm fairly sure theres something similar in the US, as it gets mentioned in the film Dodgeball... lol)

Not a chance, especially if the contract is still in force, it would be anti-competitive to release a contract to the public. Thats why bids for contracts are "supposed" to be secret, if you know what was in the original contract it would be so much easier to "out-bid" the other guys.

Kazunori once said he wants Gran Turismo to become some sort of encyclopaedia for cars, displaying the history of each manufacturer.

And thats exactly how want my Gran Turismo to be.

Iam missing many European cars and American cars from the 60s 70s and 80s.

Ahmed interviewed with kazu kazu said Porsche..Kazu told porsche wıll be probably gt5..and now super gt lıcence in gt5.Yes porsche ıs on the way

Well it wil only be a couple of months before GT5 is out so we shall see if Porsches will be in GT5!

It may not be as baffling to see Porsche completely shun one of the biggest automotive establishment in the world: Gran Turismo...but that is understandable if they have some exclusive contract with EA. Of course the heads of businesses (Porsche) that made that contract probably only did it for purely money/business and not for any automotive enthusiasm. Most CEOs and heads of businessses know little to nothing about the actualy business (ie that boeing ceo that was hired by Ford) but they just know how to run big businesses.

I'm pretty sure they've held the Super GT license for a long time.

Not the full license, no.

Just like there have been some WRC cars in past GT's (but no WRC license), they have also had some Super GT cars, but without the full license to the series.

;)

Don't get too excited! Even if the translator said "we will have Porsche" I wouldn't get my hopes up. I think that like everything else PD would be super mum about this until it was 101% confirmed and somehow helpful to announce or the game just comes out.

I'm hoping that Polyphony is banking on Porsche not renewing their EA deal sometime between when those interviews went down and March 2010. But my hopes are not up.

Its more if PD/Sony are willing to buy a sub-license from EA. Nothing is up to Porsche except the contract itself, which will not end any time soon.

I thought the educated speculation (lol) was that any contract Porsche has with EA would have been up for renewal in recent times.

Otherwise I'm confident that for whatever reasons Sony will not pay EA for the Porsche name as I guess T10/MS did.

In one of those interviews he also "laughed" at the notion of a 2010 release, hmmmmm, maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up too much for Porsche.

Maybe he laughed because iniatially thats not what he had in mind but because everyone criticized them about Damage as if its the lifeblood that'll save us all and Sony forcably promoting that pathetic PSP GO, it got pushed back.

kazus laughing didnt mean anything just was lauhging..He already decided gt5 in 2010..There were a lot of rumurs and speculations everywhere. Everyone believed gt5 in 2009 cuz of rumurs.

Still, there is no definite proof that Porsche will be in GT5.

Nope, but the fact that they have the word "Porsche" & "911" in the game is a good sign as PD would have needed permission to use them as they are registered trademarks.

*There was a post on this thread that showed a pic of this, but can't find it at the moment.

Which is not listed in the trademark list, when even Maserati is.
