Ok...
nothing special about porsche being mentionned in the yellow bird's story and la sarthe's turns

BUT

why compare the gtr vspec to 2 porsche models? That's strange. They could have picked any car in that category...I'm sure there are more than 2 or 3, and even from other brands (already licensed in Gran Turismo).

...They're not getting any sort of representation with EA, at all. How many times can EA use the same cars over and over again? I can't remember, let alone I don't even think the 996 GT2 has been in any NFS game, and I love that car.
As long as they're being paid, Porsche really don't care that much.

In the end says that the GT-R can be compared to the same category of cars which include the Porsche GT2 and GT3.

It says that the Yellow Bird is based on the Porsche 911 and towards the end says that mounts a Bosch Motronic fuel injection system customized by Porsche.

That might not mean anything since it is a real circuit, but in the driving mission G-6 are mentioned the Porsche curves of de la Sarthe.

The word Porsche is a registered trademark (I just checked). Of course, the way around that would be to have a disclaimer in the game proclaiming:

"The word "Porsche" is a registered trademark and a copyright of PCNA. Any references to Porsche and their vehicles or products are for descriptive or reference purposes only and do not imply any association with the aforementioned PCNA. All product names used in this document are trademarks of their respective companies."

I know GT has never used the actual P-word before...

Hmm, mystere et boules de gomme!

Any pics of your Carrera?

And sorry for the late reply, it sort of got buried...Plus, I didn't really want to post this after the GT3R pic!

^ I totally agree, somehow since back in GT2 PD always mentions "resembles a popular German sports car" or "popular German Sports car" on their RUF descriptions. But after seeing these pics, the thing that caught me off-guard was specifying that specific Porsche model "911 [930]" HERE. :scared:

-> By far, this is the strongest indication that Porsche might be in GT5. But as far as I know as what Arvin Charles & Snake206 stated, PCNA indicates Porsche Cars of North America not Porsche AG (the one from Deutchland). So its back to 50/50 again. :indiff:

FYI, the quote I used above are verbatim from the ones any North American Porsche clubs (993.org, etc) use as a disclaimer on their websites so we don't get sued.

The same disclaimer is found in the websites of aftermarket companies catering to Porsche owners (such as A.I.R. & Rennspd, etc). AFAIK, that disclaimer is solely for entities based in North America (as we deal with PCNA). This has to be in that specific wording.

Here^^

I wouldn't look far into it. For all we know, they could've taken that information from an out of house resource (I have no doubt PD would write all of them, but who knows?).

I don't see PD paying to use the word Porsche in the game when they're not going to use the cars...They've certainly never done that before, why start now?

Even if they had the permission to use the name for free, would they really put in the name Porsche just so that they can remind you that they don't have the cars? I don't see that happening either...

(In case you missed my post on the last page, I've stated that the word Porsche is a registered trademark)

Keep in mind, this is a company that will sue if you use their name without their consent. Heck, they're suing Crocs (the shoe company) for using the Cayman name on one of their products.

The problem is that the Porsche brand (and/or PCNA) does not appear in the credits of GT PSP. But strangely, appear the Maserati brand in the credits.
Strange things happens in GT PSP.

That makes me think of 2 things. Either PD has the attained the rights or they can expect a letter from Porsche...

Just checked and in the VW description they mention "Dr Ferdinand Porsche" who designed the original peoples car, but never mention the brand Porsche itself. RUF description doesn't mention it at all either.

Pd already confirmed Porsche would NOT be in GT5 during a gamescon interview a few months ago.

No he didn't, he said it was unlikely (or similar, I forget exactly) but it wasn't a confirmation.

I must have missed that if it did happen. I do remember them using "not likely."
I was wrong

From IGN
Porsche will very likely not appear in Gran Turismo 5. Kazunori was disappointed by this fact, but according to our interview, Porsche already signed an exclusive deal for a different game and it's highly unlikely the brand will appear in Polyphony Digital's upcoming hit. Perhaps Porsche will show up in a future GT title.
but IMO that still means no.

EA dosent own an exclusive porsche contract cause porsche is in Forza 3. And did you see Forza 3's commercial. They said "The most realistic driving sim ever". They can go suck one. well i saw this vid about GT5 awhile ago and i remember it saying about that GT5 is the game that there building from the ground up and that when GT6 comes out it could have more content then GT5

EA does have the Porsche rights, Porsche themselves have said EA is in control of their digital entertainment rights. Turn 10 (Forza devs) has said they have had promotional difficultys with Porsche pictures as all Porsche pictures had to be run through EA first, as EA is in control of the license.

I rather think Porsche forgot about video games after NFS:Porsche and they didn't really see the importance of them.

Audi has a cross-promotion deal with T10, yet despite being the R8 the cover car of Forza 3 it's non-exclusive apparently. The Veyron not only appearing in FM3 and GTPSP but also in Shift, and finally been round the Top Gear track, in a drag race with a McLaren, and so on, really are strong signs that the VW top management finally acknowledged the importance of video games [edit] and the Veyron is no longer a car you don't mess about with. [edit]

So after the dust has settled I think VW will do the same with Porsche: being featured in video games and not letting a company like EA doing business as they wish with sub-licensing the cars and trademark.

The main obstacle could be RUFs being in the game, but I strongly believe in the future, Porsches will be in GT.

I believe T10 deal with Audi is limited to the US division of the company meaning any promotion or promotional events is limited only in the US. Which explains why MS and Xbox360 would sponsor Audi main competition, Peugeot at Le Mans and instead of promoting Forza 3, Audi made a short documentary called Audi R8 meets GT5 on their website.

One of these days a documentary will be made explaining why Porsche opted out of GT games.

If Porsche was in GT5 it would probably shock all the Porsche fanboys driving them in Forza because the cars would actually have LIFT-OFF oversteer.
