I like it; adds a nice little touch that goes with the red emblem and red interior lighting. Also, the majority of Miami drivers are precisely those Civic types you mentioned, who wouldn't be able to tell that it isn't a Type-S anyway. I enjoy the higher perceived quality. Even though it's missing the monochromatic sideskirts, the 6-speed tranny, the fog lamps, the shiny interior bits, etc. that anyone who knows any better would be able to spot.

Besides, the engines are not that different. They put out the same torque, just at different RPMs, and both have very nimble gearboxes. I do have the stick, thank goodness. The Base is actually more responsive at lower speeds compared to the S.

I've had it for just over 2 years now. Graduation present (half of its payment was, anyway). :)

The engines share a block. That is about it. Everything else is different, from the proper VTEC to the head, rods, and so on. It is kind of like saying the B18 from the Integra LS is pretty much the same motor as the B18C5 from the ITR.

I'd say de-badge it, save yourself from the poseur appearance that putting a Type S badge on immediately shows of. It is just as bad as when someone tries to make their SR5 AE86 look like a GT-S, or some one tries to make their 325 look like an M3, and so on.

Your defense is the very definition of rice - it gives the appearance of higher quality that isn't there, both performance and refinement. You are basically aiming to impress people that wouldn't know the difference anyhow, and the people that actually do care about cars will immediately dock points from your ride.

These are a bit dated. I took them about a month ago. That is why there is still snow on the ground. Good news though, I just received from the UPS dude my set of Flyin' Miata AFCO coil-overs and sway bars. I will get some pics of that stuff when I can find some batteries for the camera.

Nice looking car you got there, which wheels are those?

Me likey, except for those things on the headlights. 👍

That thing looks sweet! More pics? The white with those wheels and the stance is a really nice combination. 👍 I might have to get some new suspension components or something for mine.
Thanks man, it really completes the look. I have so many things planned for my car just need the money. Im going to save until waterfest then spend all of it there on parts. My "want" list is a jetta grill setup, forge dv, stage 1 ecu, roof rack, and new wheels (i need a change)...

Yea most definately get a suspension its totally worth it! Also delete your resonator its cheap and really makes it sound mean:tup:

BTW: Me and my friend whose a photographer had a shoot a few days ago so ill post them up once hes done editing them.

Or, they might not actually care that he's put a tiny little badge on and appreciate that he has a nice car regardless.

Personally I'd count myself in that second bunch.

(Toyota Celica)

Very nice! It looks mint.

Bah I say leave it, it's your car, who cares what other people think!

No i mean i appreciate their honesty, and i asked for people's opinions anyway. I know the badges kind of goofy looking, but perhaps not to the extent they seem to perceive it. But thanks for backing me up.

Thanks man, i agree. I take pride in how i care for it. That's why i posted a pic of the miles (in the car directory thread) - not bad for a nearly ten year old car, i'd say. :)

Looks great, buddy. :)

Mine's going to be 10 this October:

I know, parking wasn't perfect. And the car was dirty as hell when I took this pic. Photoshop just masked the dirt a bit... :)

And the ACS badge is coming off today, I don't like it as much with the grilles blacked out.

Very cool. It's a shame your windshield has that reflection, the interior would look really nice from that angle.

OMG! A 5th gen Celica! My first car and I absolutely loved it do death, shame a woman cut a red light and totaled her. Is that a All-Trac? Judging by the hood I will guess no?

Those cars are reliable as hell, extremely fun to drive, and chicks LOVE them! I had the exact same colour, except mine was fading pink on the roof :P Thanks for posting that and bringing back my old times!

As for the debate on the Type-S badge on a non-Type S car. Although I absolutely hate seeing BMW's with fake M3 or M5 badging, I'd say the definition is different depending on the application. I think putting the Type-S badge is not a big deal, but the definition is difficult to state.

I've got a friend with a Nissan 240SX, and he has a Porsche Turbo badge on the back, but that is perfectly fine, infact, I'd say that it's really cool of him to do that. However, a E46 sedan with a M3 badge is the complete opposite.

I'd say keep it, or just de-badge it entirely, but dude, it's your car, it expresses how you feel, so do whatever you like! 👍

Hey Beerz, post more pictures! From my poor eye site it looks alot like a E46 M3 from above and it's in one of my favorite colours!

I kinda hate this car, so I beat on it whenever I can.. But it survives. That makes me hate it even more, but it also makes me like it. We have a love/hate-relationship.. :)

scrubbed and painted most bits underneath while i was bored, took the wheels off to get rid of the ghastly corrosion on them with nitromors and wet n dry and then eventually some polish

That thing's in great shape. Must be awesome to have that in the UK, no less. 👍

its one of the more discreet ones to have, but still turns heads :D its not so useful with toll booths or residential streets though  its survived well, but the paint hasnt faired so good. will get around to respraying it some day
