I'm sure if John Hennessey came and posted a thread about a new standing mile record in one of his company's Vipers, you'd all say, "That's cool and all, but how do we know you're the real John Hennessey? Please provide copies of last month's invoices with 'Hi GTPlanet' written on them! Also, pics of your breakfast with the Mona Lisa painted in jelly on your toast."

Nope. I'd ban him before he made his second post, given that he's one of the biggest and most serial liars in the automotive world.

Anyone on the internet can claim anything. It's the internet. GTP likes people we can trust. For every r8man and, given I approved his first post myself, JohnnyGT we get, we have twenty liars.

My Dad would really like you! My Dad oversee's a bunch of O'reilly Auto Parts stores on the west side of Houston. John Hennessey used to buy parts from O'Reilly. My dad says that John wrote nothing but bad checks, and he used to move his shop around alot. My dad refuses to do business with Hennessey!

Actually... I don't believe you own that thing. You live in Finland, your weather is worse than ours, and yet there's not a single 240 that clean anywhere within 500 miles.

Two words: road salt. :P

Nah, I kid. It's still original paint though isn't it? I know you've done a lot of trim work and so on but still... It's been taken good care of through its life.

The paint is original from the side trim up including the bonnet and the roof, the lower half of the sides has been overpainted somewhere early in the 21st century. Not my work. I painted the rear wheel arches last summer though as that's a known rust spot and will continue the project this summer to kill what's left of the corrosion. There are a few places prone for rusting and now as I know where they are I could as well take care of them before the situation explodes in my hands. It's too good to be lost for laziness.

If you insist!

Top stuff, where in Melb can I see this thing? 👍

I know I've seen it once or twice before in South Yarra... imagine how awesome he would be giving us a ride in it. :embarrassed:

P.S. If your occupation secured you the finances to this car, may I ask what you do for a living? I HAVE to be able to enjoy supercar ownership when I am older, so the more I can network with owners and learn about their success stories the better. :)

Even down under, I imagine the price on these 5.0 Gallardos have dropped enough where they can be affordable for someone just getting into the supercar market.

Nothing against Kayman (beautiful car), but his looks like a pretty "basic" model that I'm referring to.

That's what they looked like when the were first released in 2004.

This car is chassis 6 of MY2005.

In terms of performance the Targa Tasmainia Gallardo that Paul Stokell crashed in 2005 was almost identical (Targa Tasmania car had a Sports Exhaust). The suspension in the pictured car is the 20% harder "track" option, which makes it a pain to drive anywhere but the track. (got a sore back driving up the Hume Highway to Winton).

I guess now is the time to admit it's not actually mine, but as you can see by the picture I have a set of keys to it. (And it is me driving it at Winton in May 2009 at an Ivanhoe Car Club track day.)

It may well have been seen in South Yarra as it recently got the clutch replaced, and I have taken it to the dealership numerous times through South Yarra.

I think you would be looking around $280,000AUD to buy a 04 or 05 Gallardo now. But having driven it and seen the bill for parts. I don't think I would go down that path myself unless I was ridiculously rich.

There is really no point to owning one in Australia, especially Victoria the "nanny state".

I could have lost my license numerous times in this car in less than a few seconds.

And whilst it is fun on the track there is plenty of cheaper options that would be just as much fun. (but admittedly wont sound anywhere near as good).

I think one of the highlights of this car was when following it home from Winton a few years ago, it was getting dark, and i could see blue flames popping from the exhaust on downshifts.

Another is the radio... I've never turned it on.

^ Eat it, doubters.

It's nothing to do with doubting. As I said before:

Famine

I honestly don't care about people claiming cars to be theirs and lying.. Yeah, I'd be pissed if someone else claimed to own my car but at the end of the day, I really don't see what's fun about getting positive comments on a car that isn't yours..

Remember when I went down I saw that one on whatever road I was staying on. I assume it would hang around those few suburbs, you might see it every couple of days or weeks if you worked on that street. I just double checked my photo of it and the number plate wasnt the same as that one, the one I saw was has the first letters as 'xfa' or something similar.

Yeah, the one in the pictures has only done around 3200km since 2005, mainly on track.

So does that make JohnnyGT John Hennessey, or did you just pay Hennesssey to do the job? (It was done by Hennessey right? Or am I thinking of something else?:sly:)

I thought JohnnyGT was full of it too, but last I checked nobody else had questioned it.

I'm pretty impressed to see someone with that kind of car and cash posting in here, pretty awesome.
