Just seen the thread update - paying for tunes? Really? What's the cost supposed to cover, virtual fuel bills?

How do you deem a few replicable clicks chargeable, it's not like a 3D model that is actually your work.
If your time is also not worth anything read back through all the pages in the post. First, you'll find all your answers.

Second, you'll see that all the time he puts in is worth 5 dollars a month, what do you spend on coffee/ soda/ candy/ whatever indulgence you are into.

I, and I'm sure others, have improved hugely because of the tunes/ advice here so consider it a coaching fee but much cheaper.

Alternatively, go start a new thread somewhere else so you can keep whinging with all the others who need their diaper changed, everyone is sick of it.

You could call it the Smoothbrain Social Club

There is no need for insults.

Most people just want to drive, and don't have the time/inclination to learn how to tune and set cars. Its a no-brainer investment for anyone who is in this category.

The tiny monthly cost covers the 40+ hours per week that Praiano spends testing, tuning, tweaking and publishing tunes so that we all get the most enjoyment out of our sim racing hobby.

You are a real lesson giver with your 7 messages! If you can afford a subscription, good for you, but don't devalue a member who doesn't agree on the principle of payment. In addition, it's been 1 month since Praiano's made the slightest response here in his dedicated message and he no longer offers anything.

So, for you, it is normal that his Paypal link in his 1st message is still there, allowing him to earn even more money in addition to his Patreon site? So it's up to you to go elsewhere or create your own dedicated message, because you are indeed a polluter, someone who answers for nothing.

The sense of entitlement. Wow.
but don't devalue a member who doesn't agree on the principle of payment.
furinkazen's post was aggressive and sarcastic, which dictated the tone of lynchpin's response.

Praiano spends a huge number of hours every day creating tunes. To denigrate this work and say he's asking for money to "cover virtual fuel bills", is insulting.

There is no other GT7 tune garage that offers the quantity of tunes that Praiano does, let alone the quality, the commentary, the star ratings, the driving tips, the ease of use and speed at which one can apply tunes using the new site. All these features are invaluable to people who are time poor and just want to drive. Also, one learns a lot about driving and racing from Praiaino's comments on each car's strengths and weaknesses.

The $5/month is a very fair price. The Paypal link is there also because some of us who appreciate Praiano's tunes want to contribute a little bit more when we have some spare money available. Praiano has helped us for many years and he continues to help us every day with his tunes. The are worth a lot more than $5 per month!

There is a guy who loves to fish. Over time he used his knowledge and skills to make his own lures that work amazingly. Very quickly his buddies wanted the same lures as they work so well! His lures worked way better than the other 5 kinds they were using. Just no comparison to the quality.

For years he was known as the only guy who can make these work. He made them for his friends, he made for his kids friends. He loved it. Over time a friend of a friend's friend wanted lures, everyone knows about them.

Fishing with this guys lures just made fishing so much more fun. Did I need it, could I make my own? No, Maybe. But his hard work in developing this specialty product/service and I just get to have fun.

The guy who loved to fish and make lures decided people needed to bring supplies or cover the cost and he would get to them for sure. They would bring him gifts, cookies, Knick nacks as thankyou’s. For a long long time he did this.

As time went on, world changes, things change. He didn’t give anyone a reason, he didn’t have to. They respected him. He decided to start selling lures on Etsy. Everyone was happy for the guy, so cool he has done this for so long. Not only did people order on Etsy, but all of the friends and people who used to get free lures from him started going right on Etsy and ordering from him. This guy changed lures for the better. And they were inexpensive. Worked out to roughly $5 a month for people to get lures. Thats the way he said he wanted to do it. Monthly Lure fee. It was more than fair!

They were happy to support someone who has shared so much with the community, and it made their hobby more fun!

Pick your tangible lures and where you fish. Pick your video game car tunes and where you race in GT7 with Praiano’s wealth of knowledge. We should only be showing words of support, member or not.

GT7 is meant to have fun, I recommend you try these tunes. 15+ years in the commmunty. That is what’s called “a Pillar of the Community.

If you don’t like that’s fine, but we don’t really care. You go find some lures that work this well.

Try to see others view. Understand. Community support. Race some laps. Have fun.

So the amount of posts I have dictates whether I can share my thoughts or not? Go back under your bridge troll.

And speaking of polluters in threads....... Don't throw stones of you live in a glass house.

Oh, you can share your thoughts, but you cross the line when you start tossing insults.

Frankly, this thread should be closed as it's nothing more than an advertisement for his Patreon site.

Enjoy your drive.
Why does rim sizes not matter? I'm wondering for this tune but also other tunes in general. In my experience it has a huge impact on handling.

Just using some of their own writing style as reason clearly hasn't worked.

The original post by furinkazen is just one more post with an angry rant about praiano starting to take something he's excellent at, and, spends a lot of time doing to the next level. He has every right to move to Patreon, yes he posted the link a few times but how would people know about it otherwise, it's not against any rules afaik.

That plus all the posts by oxygene berating praiano are what's making the thread die, no one who doesn't want to pay needs to pay, or be here. it's the internet there's plenty of other threads, sites etc they can troll on.

All I was doing was defending praianos decision, plus I wouldn't even call what I wrote insulting, just using language they understand as reason clearly hasn't worked.

Nothing against you at all just clearing up that those posts are why no one posts here anymore. This video is likely what they are doing.

Well he appears to have called it a day... see 1st post in this thread.

Can't say I blame him. I'm sure Praiano would have continued to post some tunes on here, but as every other post is something negative and/or OTT post about Patreon, I can't say I blame him.

His Patreon community is thriving and im pleased for him. Plenty of us see and enjoy value he's been providing across 100's of cars since 1.49. Well worth it the small outlay.

Particularly for people like me that don't like/no good at tuning and just want to pickup the game at end of long day and enjoy the drive...

I appreciate some may not be in financial position to pay the sub, but let's be honest, that must be a tiny % of those that play this game. When you consider cost of ps4/5 and the game, , tv plus maybe ps subscription.

And as another poster so eloquently put 'its only a few clicks of a button, not Like he modelled cars' or something to that effect. If it's 'only a few clicks of a button' I doubt people are too upset he no longer posts (for now, perhaps?) on here, right. Anyone can learn, do it themselves or find other tunes, so whats the problem ;)

Looks like a lot of people disagree with you, judging by patreon community. Value of anything can be derived differently by different people. And clearly a lot of people are happy with the product Praiano is offering, otherwise he wouldn't have some many subscribers :).

I am not a fan of this development.

Praiano supported and continues to support this community with tunes since 2009.

The incorporation of Patreon, was not a case of Praiano "charging for something that had always been free".

This is a lie.

The Patreon experience is completely different and better than what he did before.
  • MORE tunes. Ie. More HOURS worked each day by Praiano
  • More commentary and analysis on the cars, tunes and their applicability to different tracks, races and situations
  • Star ratings (seems like a small thing but super useful to help one prioritise which tunes to employ when time is short)
  • Easier to apply tunes using the Patreon interface , than it was in this thread.
  • Easier to discuss tunes via their dedicated comments below each tune, rather than this thread which was quite difficult to do so because one had to keep jumping around from page to page, and screenshots didn't appear in quoted posts meaning one often didn't really know which tune was being referenced by a comment

Overall - a better, fuller experience that 100% justified the shift in approach and resulted in a better experience for almost all of us.

I vote that the content is reinstated so this thread can serve as a continuing discussion about Praiano's tunes, or even just as a well deserved signpost to his Patreon to help more people find it >>> PATREON : PRAIANO'S GT7 TUNES

Don't let the haters win.

Hello, Good Morning to All My Fellow Followers!

Most of the cars in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd posts on GTP were outdated anyway. I’m really tired of the ongoing discussions in my GTP thread—I don’t have the time or patience to deal with it anymore.

Patreon is already taking up a lot of my time—it’s a big job to set up, publish cars, and respond to comments. For those wanting access to my old cars on GTP, the search button still works perfectly.

I’ve also removed the PayPal button, as some people requested. I think it’s fair—I don’t need donations anymore. Thanks to all of you fellow donators.

As for negativity, I won’t let stupid people win. I just let stupid people stay stupid and refuse to let them waste my time and patience.

Have a good day.

Not sure if you are referencing my message based on the first sentence in the last paragraph but I was supporting praianos decision 😉

I've been away for this thread for a few months as I've been pretty busy - but I will be joining you on Patreon maestro!

You're completely wrong, as you have to go to their website and as you're French, it will cost you €5 basic, plus €1 VAT, or €6 per month.
Thanks for the advertising. Very cheap indeed ! I'm waiting for you there !
Or you can buy this wonderfull scratcher everything on amazon for the same price , it work for any part of the body. Have fun.

That's very kind of you, but I do what bears do, I scratch my back against the bark of a tree and it's free. On the other hand, you don't know how to read between the lines. 🐻

Edit: for settings, there are a lot of interesting things on YouTube and it's also free.

Apologies if I misunderstood you, but you’ve been spending so much time in my garage that I assumed you had plenty of time to waste here. Feel free to spend your time wherever you like.
I spend a lot of time in youtube , my last search was "How to Get Rid of Dead Weight Once and For All"

I see it as a good move, and I was one of the supporters way back when you were taking donations. I guess the only drawback I see is the lack of engagement with the community and allowing others to comment or give feedback publicly for other users to see. If you can incorporate that somehow it would be great.

Otherwise, keep on keeping on!

Not sure if I understand - is that Patreon thing free now or not? Praiano you say you don't need donations anymore, but each setting I checked there says "locked", and to unlook I'd have to pay !?

Have you logged in to the Patreon page yet? Patreon allows and enables precisely this functionality and we're already engaged in useful discussions on Patreon. Every single car setting published has its own comment section below. Very handy and much quicker and easier than using this thread which used to require flipping back pages ato find the tune being references, and then flipping back to the later comments. Much easier on Patreon.

Edit: for settings, there are a lot of interesting things on YouTube and it's also free.

Thanks for the suggestion. I followed your advice and looked. It is painfully slow and inefficient trying to apply tunes from Youtube videos. I can get 5-6 Praiano Patreon tunes done in the time it takes to do one from Youtube. And obviously Praiano's expertise at balancing and optimising the drive is unique to him.

For sure Youtube is a useful adjunct for instances where a Praiano tune isn't available, or when one wants to try a different type of tune.

The $1.50 per week for Praiano subscription is well worth the many hours it saves me, and the many hours of driving enjoyment that it gives me.

As a personal choice, I find 6$ too much, and I think more people would subscribe if it were less (I would).

But that's not what matters.
Thanks again maestro to have shared so much knowledge throughout these long years. You're a boss, you made a lot of people (that includes me) happy, and still do.
I'm sure that even Kazunori is grateful :)
Muito Obrigado
