Pre-release GT5:Prologue Thread Firmware 2.17 mandatory for GT5:P? (and Pictures)

Seems it is going to be one hell-of-a-big "Prologue":) Almost as a full game release with all those features that this pic resembles. This is going to be very serious stuff..

It has some kind of real-time clock, cross-world connection (cities are highlighted on world map), calendar, video-stream (GT Tube anyone?), PhotoAlbum and direct connection to PlayStation Home. Oh yes, Garage is now an separate entity, as it was not in GT4 prologue. So we can speak about possible great amount of cars there. Japanese site that have short report mentiones Kaz was also speaking about the weather reports and "customizations" - but it did not make clear what customization reffers to. It seems that after going online game will show you your city, location, local time, weather, temperature, etc.. They also mention that Kaz was speaking about 16 players online as a fact for Prologue. It also seems GT5:P is going to be Network download game after all.

I hope PD will deliver some new press info as Tokyo event finishes today..

Oh yes - I also like this location in background of SL55/63 - it resembles Germany or Switzerland... :) Grundenwald? :D I know it's not but Hope always dies as last one...
 
Will GT5 prologue allow for 16 players online??? Or is that just for the final version of the game? Is GT5 Prologue online?? If either one of these answers is yes then I might be getting a PS3 by the end of the year to at least check this out. Even if I just buy one and return it in 30 days for a full refund just to see how GT5 prologe is.

I'm not sure on the number, but I believe it was stated Prologue would be online capable.
 
Gents as Cameroboy just asked, can we please keep this friendly and pleasant, by all means talk about the differences between games but do so with respect to other (and yes the AUP does cover that).

Also keep in mind that the use of abbreviations and/or asterisks to try and get around the swear filter is also frowned upon.

Well since my recent reply (post 276) was 100% directed at Mclaren I will just delete it to avoid confusion.
As you mentioned lets keep this friendly and try to keep it focused on GT5. :)

Yea, Dirt has 100 cars, in TIME TRIAL ONLY. On car on a track at each time.

The purpose of a racing game is to race other people, and expanding the grid to double that of other console sims is a big leap in competition. Fighting back from a spin out from 16th place is much more appealing than only having to sift through 7 other opponents.

But thanks for doing your homework, mr bullet point reader. I'd assume you've never touched DiRT online?
 
This is very interesting news from PD.

My thanks to Amar for sharing this information with the rest of us. I look forward to more photos and details in the coming weeks. Just a shame I can't get on the offical GT site, must be getting a few hits I don't doubt.
 
Lets try this 1 more time. How many players can be online in GT5 Prologue?? Thats all I want to know for now so I can budget to get a PS3. :)
 
all i can say is.......beautiful

i also noticed a rear spoiler raising at some point...not sure if that was in gt4.

car interior looks gorgeous. I am really looking forward to this game...i just cannot wait.

I believe the SLR McLaren did so in GT4. In fact, I believe someone made a thread of all the various cars that did so.

Yes I think it was very noticable on the Crossfire in GT4 and one of the concept cars too that lifted different rear spoilers depending on the direction you tuned or if you slammed the brakes.
 
That Mitsubishi Concept had those two flaps that would help you do..... something.


Do you think they're gonna charge for this demo?
 
I just read an article (here) which seems to think GT5 Prologue will be free via PSN... (although they don't say what leads them to draw that conclusion...)

I severely doubt it will be free... also, will it not be a HUGE download if it is made available (free or otherwise) from PSN?
 
WOW!!! Wasn't expecting this to start off my day. I'm so excited for this now......but with 16 cars on track, if the AI hasn't improved, we're in for a bump-fest. I don't see any reason why PD couldn't have changed the AI by now. Thanks Amar for the great info, vids, etc!! Great news.

Well, that's why we're all studying the video. The part of the 4 way battle of the cars dodging each other leads us to believe the AI has some sort of intelligence now, but that may be the video.
 
On the official site, i let it load for like 5 mins and then it said '' sorry, site under maintenance''. So it might be a possibility that they are adding new screenshots or more info.....i hope!!

EDIT : nvm site works fine...now to analyze it :):)
 
If there's one thing I really like about Polyphony, it's that they use the real color names. FM2 just got into it, but it makes for great attention to detail and realism.

Now if we could only find a way of seeing Guard's Red. ;)

Some of them are playable demos, not just video demos. I remember driving that BMW M5 2004 demo on the Portuguese auto show, and got the BMW 1 series demo disk from someone before getting GT4.



I didn't realize there where so many out there (if all other marked as DEMO, and not marked "replay theater" like the 2 first, are also playable demos).
