What would be a great amount of cars to work with? Think about all the different manufacturers and race constructors that may show up in GT5. What would be a respectable number of cars? And is there a such thing as too many cars?

Quite the valid question there.

I think there IS such a thing as too many cars. As they say, Its better to have quality then quantity. pilling up cars does not make it better, how many cars can be on the track at one time? how many cars will be of "equal" strength for online racing (to be fair/equal)...

More cars only means more work in modeling, more work in sounds, more work in tuning adjustments, in balancing, in car damage modelisation (if GT5 really gets it) and so on and so on.

Forza2 pulls it off REALLY well with only about 300 and there is more then necessary in there.

GT5 should revamp their garage and offer the best of each car series, include the timeless classics and move on with better things such as Personal configuration/body kits and the like. Allow the player to built his car the way he really wants it and offer the "official" body kits to create GT-R type race cars and such so we don't have to use the "pre-defined" model.

Next Generation gaming is about Choices, possibilities, breaking barriers ... not continuing in a course of action that simply fills up a game disc with unnecessary and mediocre content.

that's my opinion of course.

And I do concur!

The number of cars should not effect the gameplay per se, but rather add to it. I could imagine around 500 cars being reasonable without taking anything important from the gameplay.

But some may be basically the same with differences on rims, looks, or very slight different handling. And then for a minimal development you get a few new cars. It becomes an easy way to go from 500 to 700 "different" cars.

At least that's what I felt in GT4.

Nice points! I agree that we had far less then a true 700 cars by that measure. This is how PD could really give us more with less.

And I don't see the need for this kind of numbers since there is no other game even close on amount of available cars (but I may be wrong, please correct me if so).

In terms of packaged product, no, nothing else comes close. You have PC games with aftermarket support but that's a different thing entirely.

I agree with your point on GT4, a lot of the cars were just slighty different variations of another model. With additional content being released agfter launch GT5 should be a growing game. I'd like to see it grom in more areas than the typical cars and tracks content (though that's always welcome). Offer new parts to moed your cars with, offer new race events and should a livery editor be included, new manufacturer decals etc. If PD take the right apprach there's almost a limitless list of possiblities for where GT can go from here. It's very open in game structure, but one thing that dissapoints, is the tuning, it's very linear, very structured. Forza does it better, but even that is far too structured fo my liking. I; like to see the tuning aspect blown wide open. not just a stage 1-4 turbo, but different turbos in each category, each with their own benefits that will be more or less noticable on different cars. Different tyre brands with different selections of tyres with different levels of durability, grip and responsivness. I'd love to see GT go down that route for all the aftermarket parts.

But sheer number of "variations" is good, I do not see what is the problem there?

They've made 700+ car list for GT4 from which maybe 400 were actually different cars. So, they've actually modelled 400 cars and spent some time in making variations and details. I do not see the problem there. Of course, not many people will actually drive all of 50 Skylines in the game, but just the fact the game has all GT-R models from '60-ties until now - with all possbile variations, including Midnight Purple for example - is a nice feature from my POW. And I guess it is not that time consuming to make it once you've made he foundations.

I'd like to see variations, but somehow I think that PD would make it if they could. It is logical that we would see Venturi, Vector or infamous Cerbera LM from past games if someone gave them rights to do so. But somehow I think they just couldn't have it in the game. It is illogical that such a car afficionados - as PD undoubtfuly are - would miss to have even one car form one single manufactorer if they could. Crazy stuff like Jay Leno Tank car, Cizeta Moroder or Chaparal Refrigirator :) are example of said above.

And with all the different licenced venues, championships and history approach of the series number of cars can only go up. Rally venue wiith beautiful choice of historic rally models speaks for itself. Very deep history-view of japanese automaking in past 50 years is a solo achievement that can't be outdone. LeMans class. JGTC. Etc.. I keep my fingers crossed for continuation of that praxis - any kind of "focusing" would be serious step back for GT series IMHO.

The 50 different variations of the skyline is getting old now, because usually they do it with japanese cars. Nothing's wrong with it but it's old because i'd like to see them expand that to different manufacturers and models. Like you said if they have the foundation it's not all that time consuming.

The other tree-line course looks like no other GT course, so either it is also brand new or Trial Mountain's tree canopy has been reworked like never before. Whatever course it is, it is stunning!

Yes, totally re-worked to resemble a tunnel, rather than trees. I haven't seen cheese like that since GT2. The car is nice, but those trees....

Check these out :D.

Rejojce :D.

In other woords: Competition - bye, bye. This game is ahead of it's time.

Just 90 days from release :). Also notice that language on somescreens is English - something that has never happened for early screens. That could easily mean worldwide release. Download now seems more posssible to me then before. Crossing fingers..

Good work, as ever, amar 👍

You say 15 cars on track together. I can see 16 in this pic.

It's all in ????. :( But I can figure out the screenshots and that's alot of cars on track at once! Imagine online!

I count 15.

Oh I see 16 cars in the picture nevermind. To the right of the red Mustang you can see the right front fender of some unknown car.

have a look around the top right of the picture. if you look to the right of the red mustang, you can see some sort of shadow. that's the 16th car.

and btw OMFG!!!!! Gran Turismo seems to have put right what was wrong in GT4, and I predict that GT5 will be Game of the Year next year

Well the GT site won't load crap for me and the video won't load either so i'll try tomorrow. But from what I can see this is exciting... and only the Prologue!

Excellent news! 15+ cars  Plus, with full online capability, GT5: Prologue seems like it will fill the gap between the 'Full Release' alot better than GT4: Prologue did. :dopey: Also, an October release... 👍 Is that worldwide?

The eighties end which it has been about that the Japanese car will master the apex of the world, the leading part of motor show was the sport car not to be wrong.
Under splendid lighting, what at the show meeting place where ardor eddies heart of our cars lover is made nailing was “the machine which is born in order to run fast”.

But the excitement was not eternal. Never to just you rejoice the footstep of 21 centuries, for the sport car and, it is not to be full. The energy crisis which shouts loudly, the emission control which increases intensity. The sport car groped technology in this head wind, only continued to wait for when reviving intently.

At the time of the revival, it has been about to visit finally.

2007 October 26th. The 40th Tokyo motor show 2007 which opens this day curtain is the expectation which is colored with the Japanese sport which gets over the head wind to of despair with the epoch-making innovation.
As for exhibition being rumored only exceptionally the high performance model. New GT-R, next term type NSX and [supura] succession model, [ranebo] X, in presser STi version, rec suspension LF-A…. The big name which just informs the revival of sport car golden period it is numerous.

It advances '[gurantsurisumo]', the revolutionists of such Japanese sport car and also to the new territory field. Informing the opening 'the [gurantsurisumo] 5 prologue'. With this up-to-date work, it is the schedule which collaboration of the Japanese make sport car whether many stand which displays the form with Tokyo motor show of actualizes.
When such car is progressive, in the same way, 'also the [gurantsurisumo] 5 prologue' has achieved the preponderant innovation of course. As for everyone who plays this title, “depending upon play station 3” and network '[gurantsurisumo]' is not probably is to drink breath in the preponderant evolution which can.

From the first work 1997 10 years. In [vuintejiiya] of the Japanese sport car, '[gurantsurisumo]' repaints history again.

The human scene which is in the midst of the test in North America. From announcement of concept model 6 years. Next term GT-R the marketing model is released finally with Tokyo motor show of this fall. Mechanism and the specifications etc have been wrapped still in puzzle, but as for becoming the model of the extent which designates all sport models as desertion you are not wrong. It is appearance of the Japanese car which reigns in apex of the world (Photo: Apollo News Service)

Altogether camouflage do, the charming figure of [ranebo] X which attacks [niyuruburukurinku]. It integrates controls S-AWC which (super all wheel control) it loads ACD and AYC, ABS and ASC, etc as for the travelling efficiency it says that furthermore evolution is accomplished. Because the transmission to [semiotoma] it is converted, it becomes the monster sport which it can ride with AT license (Photo: Apollo News Service)

The scoop shot of in presser STi version which is in the midst of shaking down with [niyuruburukurinku]. But the normal model similar hatch-back, the large-sized spoiler abnormal play of the roof end is the fact that it is not in presser is indicated. Even in regard to disguise you observe to also the projection of the fender which understands. You say that also high-speed stability has improved dramatically, with wheel based extension

...Your guess is as good as mine.

Awesome! Thanks, Amar! Just a little dissapointed that all the differences from GT4 seem to be updated graphics and many more cars on track. That Audi TT shacked violently across the gravel like it did in GT4... I've always found that a little unrealistic. I guess I'll have to see/play the final product.

Just to let all Guides Editors know - I created the GT5: Prologue pages a few days ago, and added the news at the time into the news section. It would be great if you guys can contribute to it too, adding all the new news and your thoughts. :)

I’ve got access to the high resolution assets on the official site, though because it’s 11pm (and I’m sick) I won’t have a chance till morning to upload them all. Anyway here’s a taste in full 3840×2160 resolution.

It’s clearly a photomode bullshot, but note the subtle heat distortion in the distance that can also be seen in the high definition trailer.

EDIT III: Success!

damb that oficcial site being jammed up!!!!......I need more screenshots!
Can anyone tell me why in screen shot with new GTR leading through the S curve.....why the ripplestrip and the white painted line next to it doesnt follow a proper curve(its all jaggered)??????

I'll need a HK GTS Monaro or XY GTHO Falcon to go with the track as well if its included in GT5......other wise dont bother! :)

Whoa NOW this game has my attention! 16 cars on track???!! Oh wait do you think they will pull what Forza 2 did?? They told us 12 cars then right before the game came out we got 8 cars. Not that I mind at all but I wonder if GT5 will do the same thing. 16 now maybe 10 later.

Still... dang. 16 online in GT5? Will we be stuck with stock paint jobs or will GT5 allow us to customize our cars the way we want. Swap engines, swap transmissions??

I will defineltly have to keep an eye on this now. Hmm might have to get a PS3 sooner than I thought. So GT5 prologue allows 16 online??? or the full game GT5 allows 16 online??
