I'm amazed, this sounds more like GT5 then a Prologue! It will be awesome if it's free.

First off im thoroughly impressed PD:tup: đź‘Ť :)

From the looks of it this will be a two track Prologue, from the media we have seen, we will see the return of the alps from GTHD and Suzuka, it will probably feature around 30 cars, new physics and ai, all the features are all just a teaser to draw us all in. I fully expect online to be fully included as this will then be a working beta for PD to get feedback on.

I think it will be a free download (around 1GB) as all the online features will be a fabulous showcase for Sony to introduce online integration to the consumer.

A product of that size and quality would be just enough to wet everyones appetite, and is a sweeeeeet taster of things to come.:sly:

For the God's sake, why? :) :) :) Explain this? :) :) :) WTF?

I even have a thought it could be free, because having such a content free-of-charge would push the console sales enourmosly. It woould meant a ton of positive PR throught all imanigable media, it would again underline the fact that online play on PS3 is for free, integration with Home (official as we can see, and Home is going to also be free as we know) would also made it's postive PR job and everyone woould be very happy.
...
I know this is wishfull thinking, but releasing Prologue as free download could be very smart move from SCE in terms of enhacement PS3's sales.
There is really no need for SONY to charge for GT5 Prologue or any other "demo".

With GT4, SONY sold a free-standing demo that could be played forever. With the on-line play controlled by them, all they have to do is cut off the servers as soon as they release the final version and everyone who held out til the end would have to decide immediately if they were going to continue wanting to play (go buy the released game) or give up and go away.

It's a simple process of baiting their customers and hitting the delinquent ones over their heads. :sly:

My main GT5 worry still remains: at the moment, there has been little talk about on-line content sales. Their last macro-transaction fiasco had better not be repeated! We must remain vigilant.

Cheers,

MasterGT

I just noticed that at about 1:18 of the new clip that the grass blows in the wind as the R8 and the viper hit the brakes into the corner. That's the kind of detail that I've been hoping for. đź‘Ť

Pause at 0:58 and notice that the Renault Clio driver is actually in Renault F1 racing colours plus the TVR driver has TVR across his body.

BTW Uno nice catch on the grass moving. Good eye!

LOL at 0:44 the same Renault driver is driving on the grass? WTH?!?

I wonder why they would cover the sound up with music I myself would rather hear the cars. Other than that it was a great video.

Well if looks could kill, then I would be certainly dead.

I think even a hardcore forza fanboy would have to admit, that at least looked good. Of course I am not going to get carried away, somethings I want from GT5 where not shown, however this is just a teaser of GT:P which is a teaser itself, so i wouldn't expect to see everything in a teaser of a teaser, that is just plain greedy. I like the way the details are keep confidential, its good looking forward to more news although it can get a little frustrating getting kept in the dark.

I finally got to watch the video without interruption and wow it looks gorgeous! No suprise but I can see damage won't be in the Prologue at 0:55 in the Spec B movie the Renault and the Skyline come side to side and you can tell about 2 seconds later they bump (skyline hit right side, Renault left) and you see no damage on the Renault.

Well crap, i thought there was a couple more days to wait.
Now that was nice seeing those 16 cars on track at once.
It was also nice hearing a new actually existing A.I. to be added.
I still hope they can get at least four more cars on track at once by GT5 release.
I also still hope for an as real as completely possible physics system (no matter how "hard" some might think it would be) as well as a collision detection system (not damage) but in how cars react to impacts from other cars, grass, sand, walls, etc.Including a damage system, even if downloadable later (just not to much later.)
I also still hope the offline gets as many cars on track as well.
I agree with the poster about the music tho, woulda prefered the engine sounds myself.
That was the trailer/teaser i was expecting for E3 tho.
Much better.
I'll just agree with the other posters about either picking out suits and helmets, and custom paint/liveries.
Hmmm after MGS4 and a few other PS3 games this just might be added back on the list.
I'll still truely believe it when i see it/rent it first tho.

As far as the AI goes I can't throw out any judgement how they will perform by a video. The only way, at least for me, to judge the intelligence(or lack there of) of the AI I need to play the game. But I'm certainly hoping they were drastically improved.

Well, after reading all the news and watching the videos, I have to say that I'm actually pretty disappointed....

..... THAT I DON'T HAVE IT YET.

:D

Jedi, your such a tease.

I agree, there were GT4 vids around before GT4 was released where it looked like the AI had inproved to a decent degree. But we all know what really happened. I'll remain hopefull that the PS3 is being used more effectively across the range the the PS2 ever was for a GT game, and not just hammering out as good a visual experience as possible.

I like the fact that in the pits the pit crew are sporting actual team livery as opposed to the typical generic PD suit. I wonder if they'll due this for all of the real race cars. I can just imagine how sweet the pits would look when a mass of cars pit at La Sarthe. And with 16 players we are nearing ever closer to a 24 Rennen Nurburgring (just add a couple more hundred cars on the track at one time....OK maybe Im pushing it). Also I dont mean to knit pick but has anyone noticed the lack of car noises. Did PD attempt to cover it up with that butt rock? I hoping that they sound just like the Type-A trailer (crosses fingers). Any who Im probably going to wait for the actual game.

Although it's nice to think about the mass of cars pitting at La Sarthe but when's the last time you've pitted with more then 3 cars (including you) at once? Not to burst your bubble, and I know there's going to be 16 cars instead of six on the track at once but most of the time in GT4 I pit alone. But of course i'd love to see almost full grid pitting at once. That'd be a visual orgasm for sure!

I hope. I also hope pd realise that many of us are looking for a vast improvement there, not only visuals. But that being said, visuals are kicking @#$ right now.

That is my single worry for GT5 - that it'll be beautiful to look at but lack any changes to further the game experience.
I mean I think it's safe to say the cars in the game are the best looking in any game made so far. The level of detail is astonishing. But I really hope the game doesn't end up vacuous and devoid of depth.
I feel it won't but still, that little voice is there. But visual damage isn't one of the things I want as such. Looking at the cars I wonder if it's even possible (probably is but can you imagine how much time has already been spent on these models and then having to accurately reproduce damage as well?). But improved AI, physics, environment (must get rid of those 4 sided flat trees but as it is 1080p@60fps already how much better will the graphics get?), more realistic sound and some form of penalizing bad driving (internal car damage like steering, brakes etc) are all necessary personally. Weather effects and the like would be icing on the cake.
Problem is if GT5 turns out to be all looks and no talent would I still get it? .....Yes....maybe....perhaps. But please, I hope that's not the case. But I have the feeling I may be half right. I hope it delivers..

OMMMMMMMMMMMMMFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
AAAAAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHHHHHHHHAHAHAAHAHAH
I think I'm going hysterical.......
WATCH the latest video that Amar indicated in post 1 in 720p
The amount of details and the smoothness is out of this world.
Yes I am a Graphics whore...but for immersion of it.
All that's left to witness now is some in-game audio.

PD has done it again,
Good thing I returned my X360 with Forza 2 :)

That trailer was very amazing the amount detail on the cars are unbelieveable. I would love to see some in game races to see the game in action. You guys think they will have weather effects like rain, snow, going from sunny day to cloudy overcast day during the races?

The one main thing i pray to God they get rid of in GT5 are those damn invisible walls, so stupidly pointless, if you dont want us to go over a certain area with the car, just put a guard rail there! Just one of the small but frustratingly annoying little details i hope they change. My eyes lit up like christmas after seeing that trailer though, fingers crossed that PD put out a game that is near perfect on next gen!

Wow! You must really hate those pesky invisible walls. :sly:

It wasn't until I downloaded one of the pictures on this site that I began to count 15 cars. I noted there was a 16th car around the trees. The challenge is to diffrentiate between car and tree. Even to this day, creating rich and believable trees can be quite tough. So most software developers just have these flat trees. There actually are 16 cars. We just need a better picture to show off 16 cars on one track. Sixteen cars is a good number. The most I use in rFactor and the ToCA Race Driver series is 20 cars. I think 24 is perfect if PD can acheive it. Anything at or over 20 is a great number. If PD features class racing (which I'm clamoring for), then a 24-car race with four classes mean there will be six competitors to go against. It's a small number of competitors for a class, but still means you will have to contend with about 18 other cars not in your class. More cars to race against means that races will generate a greater level of difficulty. The races will also be more realistic since it isn't a six-car affair. In addition, those used to pack racing will have to make better decisions on the race track. I might be obliged to say that this is a game where placing on the podium (not necessarily a win) would be more satisfying in this GT model than any other. Think about it. You want to win the race, but even if you've given your best effort and placed 3rd (or even 2nd), then you still feel like a true winner. PD will need to make races somewhat longer because it can be pretty tough to weave your way through 15+ cars in two laps.

In any discussion of cars on track, the issue of AI comes to play. I cheered GT's AI because they weren't thugs trying to knock me off the road and getting ticky-tack fouls (ToCA Race Driver). We need to define "better AI." Are we talking about AI that doesn't pinball each other on the track? Are we talking drivers who don't intentionally knock you off the road? Are we talking about drivers who aren't aggressive enough? So here's a quick question: define "better AI." Be as detailed as possible so PD will know what they have to do to make the AI drivers better.

Kaz knew that the game would look as good as it does right now a long time ago when he promised something wonderful like damage. Just few days ago we were doubting whether the ps3 could really handle 16 cars. I also remember Kaz said a while ago that an online GT would not change racing games as we know it, but absolutly smash it, or something, something very much to that effect. I think Kaz is really tenderizing us for big things little by little.

I hope we see the night time track included in the demo at some point aswell as that fielded one.:D
How will we share photos with others is what I'm wondering now...

I though the AI in GT4 was pretty good. Using equally matched cars the AI try to pass and out-brake me and I've had them fight back when I've dived up the inside (sometimes to their own detriment - without me even touching them). However a clear issue is the AI's inability to avoid a stationary car stranded on the racing line after a spin.
