so quick question....does anyone know if the game will make use of the PS3 controller L2 and R2 trigger style buttons for trigger accelerating and braking...or are we still stuck with the X button as the default way to control the game??

Ahhh....all polyphony needs to add is a few variations of the Mclaren F1 ...and I mean the short tail racing versions and the regular street versions along with the LM Papaya Orange F1.

I can't believe my eyes, from 6 cars with no interior to 16 cars with interior, looking that good, can't believe it.
Now that we have interior view, I wonder, in a car that is only available with automatic transmission in real life, what would happen when you choose it with manual transmission in the game?

Most cars either come with a manual or come with an auto w/ sportshift or tiptronic.

I don't care about damage, if the cars can get scratched up I'm fine with that.

I'd like to see a dyno, so we can sit on the dyno with our cars and you know dyno them ourselves using our controller to get the most power out of are cars. It would be so much fun! :D

What I'd like to know is; for us North American'ers we are used to LHD cars, but some cars like the Skyline are from Japan and RHD only, will we be forced to drive RHD or will they be changed depending on what we specify?

What do you guys think?

^ For me I'd rather see cars on their own model designation, if its RHD its RHD, same goes to LHD's. Car's need to have model designation on each specific countries.

-> Just look on the Mustang on GT5P, that very car is not the US version. It has smoked front corner lights, turn signals on those front fenders, and rear fog lamps. I think thats an Aussie or Asian/JDM version, since the Mustang doesn't come with RHD unlike the F-150. While the Euro-stang has clear amber turn signals at the back, watch Top Gear and Fifth Gear on their GT500 road tests. (:

Not sure if this was mentioned yet.
but this is someting I have never seen before in a race game, for the first time reflecions on a hot road??? can't remember what its called but you know what i mean.. :dopey:

Hope this is getting a PS3 over. I'm a bit scared, though, considering this: GT4 never really lived up to the hype that was created by the previous 3 editions. I mean, the series hit its peak with GT2 (that's my opion, though). GT4 promised a lot of things that wasn't full fulled with the final version the biggest being online play. But what Peter Moore said at the Xbox 360 conference really caught my attention. he said that PGR4 will be theONLY RACING GAME where you can share photos AND video viva Xbox Live. See, PD? it can be done and can be done right.

Well noticed +rep

I have wanted to see those as a weather aspect all along, it gives the impression of heat, something GT4 has never been able to portrait. I noticed heat hazes before aswell also good news.

Oh BTW its called a mirage:tup:

But that's Xbox... in PS3 you will be able to have your personal GT5 photos on the wall in your PS Home. Which is one step further i guess. 👍

Was Peter Moore the fellow that revealed GTA IV at E3 last year giving the impression it would be X360 exclusive?

Don't post like that again, the comment you just made was likely to start and un-needed flame fest and in addition did not add anything to the discussion.

This is a polite request this time, please don't repeat it.

I wanna have a garage view in GT5, like in TDU. Being able to walk around a huge garage with all of your cars would be awesome, also It would be awesome if you could invite your friends into this huge warehouse, from the most humble Civic all the way up to a Ferrari Enzo, and being able to just step in and drive it out onto the test course. 👍

am i the only one not planning on crashing in this game? who needs damage? how many laps are the races in GT? 5? 3? a crash of any sort should pretty much spell the end of the race for you. except in the enduros, which a bunch of people b-spec over-night anyway. it would be cool to see scratches from the bumping that is unavoidable, but i dont really see the big deal about not having pieces fly off everywhere and giant dents in the fenders. if im racing for five laps, im not going to crash. and if i do, my chances are over, or they should be, depending on the race requirement kinks being worked out.

my two cents on the damage thing. late, i know.

in regards to these trailers: stoked. cant wait. hopefully the logitech g25 or a newer model by the time GT5 comes out will be available. im gonna drop so much on this. maybe even a cockpit?

not sure what the price of the ps3 is gonna be next year. i hear they may be upgrading to an 80gig drive after this current price drop sells through the current 60gigs. but the 80 gig will cost 599 again. maybe instead of waiting for GT5 to come out, i should hurry up and get a ps3 while theyre 499.

The thing is that other games DO have damage, and we've been denied it for a while, and If Forza 2 has it, GT5 HAS to have it.

The 80 gig would probably cost around 550 with out Motorstorm, 600 with it. :)

wow someting else :D

at 1:19 in the new trailer.. you can see when a car drives by the grass will bend!! ther's somuch detail in the new trailer allot of little things..

^ I think the Playstation Home could do a good job of interating comunities for GT5, but we'll see when PS Home comes out on Nov. :)

I don't really mind not having visual damage, even though it would be awesome to have it but I do expect damage in some form, and I hope we'll be getting some in-game sounds in the next trailer/event.

There is a garage as seen in this screenshot, but what's hidden behind the flashy icon.... only time will tell

I'd much rather a garage like PGR3 than TDU (I have both). In TDU, you simply selected the cars, left-right, then could click a button to select the car and then you could pan the camera around them. That was.. okay. In PGR3, the game goes first-person, and you literally walk around the garage, like in a FPS. If you want to see another car, you simply walk over to it, rather than having to de-select the current car and then select the other. Brilliant, that was.

The only restriction I see is that the garage would take a while to load (like loading a race, sixteen cars plus the environment), so they'd have to limit it to "rooms" with only a certain number of cars in it, and probably have it set as an Option for what garage you want (for people that hate load times or want to use the classic "list" view).

I hope that, if garages are implimented, you could set them up how you wanted, moving cars around, grouping certain cars together, by class or manufacturer or whatever.

i wonder:

those graphics
60 fps
1080p native
16 cars on screen
hundreds of cars and tracks
a physics system that runs on 360 fps
real time changing weather effects
improved AI
enhanced carrear
enhanced tuning
damage (some kind)
16 player online

i mean, sounds too much even for PS3 and PD. i wonder what won't be in the game when it ships...

I don't know if this has been posted before, but ...
Gamespot
For the first time in Japan, Polyphony Digital showed off Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Studio head Kazunori Yamauchi played a demo of the game, showing how its menu options have been seamlessly integrated with online features, such as a profile editor and an online event calendar. Going on a race, Yamauchi showed how Gran Turismo 5 can run with up to 16 cars on the track, and with more sophisticated artificial intelligence than in previous series installments.

I have to ask since I don't think it has been in 21 pages ... but what's the music playing in the B-trailer? It sounds like an original composition that's been looped ...

I have to ask something to. In the Spec B video at around 0:56 seconds when the Skyline is over taking the Clio it looks like there is a indicator on, on the right hand side of the car. But I am not 100% sure, can anyone confirm this?

Oh man, I can't wait. I hope it supports the 3 pedal and gated shifter wheel. That would be awesome, especially if you could have the option of racing agints other wheel owners. That would be so intense.

Anyways, as far as damage goes, sure it would be nice, BUT a) it should be very realistic (no crashing into eachother at 200MPH and still surviving), and b) it should be something that you would want to avoid at all costs, just like in real life. GT has always been about realism, and if PD can't meet both of those criteria, then I would rather they skipped on damage and bump up the graphics.

I expected that GT5 would have such realistic graphics, of course its nice when you actually see them, but for me its far more important to have very good AI and NEW gaming modes and experiences. Online play can provide that but with no damage it will be bumping all over.

As a car enthousiast I like the photorealistic cars but as a gamer I would rather have "proper" damage and realistic AI.

With the PS3 I dont understand why PD doesnt only put 100 cars and 10 tracks on blu-ray and the rest downloadable in the following time.

Check out the Spec-B Video at around the 1:18 mark...where the Viper goes a bit on the grass.......Notice how the Grass gets affected by the Audi R8's Aerodynamics.... now Thats an awesome effect!!...

Wow, the B-spec video is really good. Heat haze is back in full form. And check the B-spec video at 1:37, there is my wanted hot pavement mirror effect in the distance present! :sly:
