Did someone post the interview by Kaz? There are some things floating around on other sites like NeoGAF.

GT5: prologue will be released on PSN and blu-ray - yeah confirmed bei kaz himself.

also:

- there will be download content like damage models
- reworked AI from ground up
- driving: standard and professionell (kaz calls out for pros)
- for crashing into other players - there will be a ****load of options in online races for that

It's good to know that they're actually going to add damage. I agree that the screen should shake if you bump into someone. It also bothers me that the hands on the steering wheel doesn't do hand over hand turning, but the turns might not be sharp enough to warrant it.

edit: There is hand over hand steering. My mistake.

Yes, I just saw the video. From the low-quality stream I could tell it looks even better than the GT:HD demo. Sounds are finally improved.

Can't wait for a link to see it again...

Sounds are not improved, the sounds they add for the videos are much better than the ones in the actual game, think of this game as "GT 4.5" more than GT 5. while it made very impressive imrpovements, it's still based on old assets.

On that vid, I noticed when the guy spins and momentarily faces the uncoming cars, the crazy amount of tyre smoke on the road, it 'swallows' partially the car right behind in a (apparently) realistic way, despite the vid being low quality. 👍

I'm hoping the damage is the reason we haven't seen gameplay vids of race cars yet. Hoping, though.

This could be true

In one of the GT5:P articles they mentioned they could see the Motul Pitwork Z but they could not select it. They probably won't let you drive it or race against it because it probably has a working damage model...who knows?

Thanks for the earlier videos *McLaren*, +rep

The graphics and incar view look ace, it gives you a very wide viewing area, and the game looks very fun with 15 other cars battling with you. Driving looks much tougher now as evident with the BMW video. No more gliding across patches of grass

But too bad there is footage of the driver bumping into another car pretty hard and it not spinning out. Better bring out the buckets for all the tears that will be shed by some.

They do do hand over hand sterring, but only when the need for it arises.

I'm thinking we are seeing less and will be getting more. The AI is better, or at least more active, based on the new video. I have to assume the person in the video is in Normal mode, novices driving in Pro mode might be an unwise PR move.

I'm hoping the AI will behave differently in Professional mode than in Normal, with the best-case-scenario being adaptive AI, where they race as clean as you race, within reason, and respond when pressured. I need to watch more of the video but my first impression was that both the human AND the AI were novice drivers, but the AI knew the track.

I'd like to see video of the AI behavior in full racing cars, or at least with a better human driver, to see if they respond differently. I'd like to see Kaz demonstrate Professional mode for us as well, since he is calling us out.👍

I agree that the impacts between cars in the vids in dampened, but if you assume this is Normal mode, wouldn't that be expected?

Did you really watch any of the videos?

Good video showing hand over hand movement. Unforunately, the dreaded tire sound is still present. Hope it's on PD's to fix list.

Lots of solid proof the physics are better than GT4's.
Awesome videos. I'm gonna be surprised if no one sees clearly in this video that the AI and physics are better. This is exactly what I want to race against.

And a little nit pick issue: why is there always a bad player on the gameplay videos? Can they not find someone who can actually play this game?

Most of GameSpot's editors are bad at driving games, as you will have seen in those videos. Anyway, at this moment in time, I have enjoyed what I have seen from the latest bunch of GT5: Prologue videos.

I think it's kind of nice to see how everything reacts when you throw a bad driver into the good AI mix but I also often wonder why for most new games in general have people demoing them that look like they don't know the first thing about PLAYING the game even if they did develop the whole thing.

So, are there any game play vids with sound? They're flaunting these beautifull sounds in the "trailers" but then all the vids i've seen of people playing the demo, you cant hear the car at all. Hiding something are we?

Maybe gaming media can be bad drivers. They'd probably be better drivers once some of them learn not to take cheap shots at Gran Turismo any jolly old time they like. Perhaps they aren't very good drivers just to show people that games are no fun without damage or without someone who isn't trying to be the closest to an F1 racer. They drive bad so that us REAL racing gamers can hopefully drive at least halfway decent. Perhaps the bad driving is as a result of trying to show asses out of themselves. It's the reason why people do stupid things and try to post their actions on YouTube by finding the worst rock music possible to compliment the dumbass actions.

That's all. Still haven't seen the video yet, but let me get to something I don't have to cheap shot or get on. I still imagine that we're not seeing race cars probably because of the thing someone mentioned. The damage model isn't set, so no real word on damage. Have yet to see any kind of visual damage. I probably wouldn't be too worried about no race cars or no damage at this point. I do feel worried about no race cars you can actually race (even without damage) because for most people, you race a racing game usually to get up to the purest race cars. We've seen only two next-gen race cars: the Toyota Celica Rally (ST105(?)) Car and the Motul Pitwork Z. I'm sure more will follow once PD brings 'em on. We could see any sort of racing machines ranging from (be hopeful) Racing Modifications to F1 cars. I'd even want to see a few more Super GT machines. I think we'll probably see a lot more race cars in the future. Could be the Tokyo Game Show... could be next year's E3... could be anywhere at any time.

It's difficult to judge on the sounds so far. Obviously the sounds from the trailer sounded great, but the only clear in game sounds that i've heard was the one posted earlier with the Copen...which to me sounded pretty good, but I don't know what that car sounds like in real life. We need to hear something that everyone knows, such as a Ferrari, or a nice V8, and we'll be able to judge from their how the sounds are truly going to be. Hopefully over the next few days we'll get some decent videos WITH sounds.

3:06 driver gets into dark car slightly, hardly any movement

76mph is not a slight hit and the car hardly moved even though it was hit as it was turning right and the player hit it right on it's rear bumper which should have sent it sideways or even into a spin. Also the white evo never body slammed the player as his speed doesn't change which imo would have shown as a hard contact. And finally the silver GT-R didn't move, the player did, he moved further inside that his left side was on the grass/dirt. I downloaded the file from that site and have looked at in double size and it's clear to see these instances.

The AI has improved but you're giving them too much credit in some cases.

im pretty sure the readout was in km/h:idea:

Nice! 👍

Argh... why didn't the dumbass show the different driving physics? Probably, drifting for the other one anyway...

The driving physics seem to be nicely upgraded even from GTHD.
Words cannot describe my hypomania? for this.

One thing that makes me slightly nervous is on the Official GT site Prologue is still marked as TARGET October release. :nervous:

And is that October release for Japan only, or does it apply for Europe as well?

If you pause the video at just the right time you can read the description below, it says:

"Select between standard or professional driving physics."

All the cars are "stock"... now i know about the arguments and conversations we had about GT and the tune car/Ricer syndromes.. i'm not interested in starting a new conversation about this... however... well after playing a good few months of Forza2 (which to my opinion, IS a good race game) and i'm grown accustomed to seeing nice designed cars; with cool unique designs and full of sponsors... even in SP! So going back to plain stock-looking cars is kind of... well boring... Not sure if anyone else feels this way...
That brick wall has no graffiti. How boring.

I believe early talk was that there would not be tuning in Prologue. And as I haven't played Forza 2 I doubt I will miss making a car look fugly. I mean God forbid the cars look the way the designers intended, right?

And even if Prologue has customization, why would there be customization on a convention demo? They probably have long enough lines as it is and the last thing they need is some game critic spending an hour trying to get his pimp mobile just right.

Driving a stock car in GT5:P will not bother me as my Gran Turismo goals have been to win with as little messing as possible. And playing GTHD never once made me stop and think how stupid these cars look in their original form.

Wow I guess only one person saw the actual ingame video with sound info for a link I posted.

Ah well here's the link again: http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/14174

Oh you're welcome. :)

I don't know if you guys noticed this but in the "sound" video with the Copen we see a Mercedes Benz SL right at the end. That's a big known supercharged V8 isn't it?
My initial reaction was .... wha? that's it, not enough roar! However, after putting some thought into it I realized that the SL's are usually automatics (the shifting was perfectly portrayed), and the exhaust releases more of a latent burble:it was exactly that in the video!

It's sounding good, however I will reserve my judgment until we get some clear audio. It's unacceptable if PD releases a graphical update to GT4. the sound engine has to be masterful:
that's the major factor that attracted me to FORZA 2 (which I returned of course along with the XBOX360...M$...unfinished products IMO)

Exactly.

Besides, as far as I'm concerned, what made me get hooked on the GT series in the first place was the fact that, for the first time, I could drive real life stock cars, and even supercars I had only seen in auto magazines, of almost all common manufacturers I knew.

And it's the same reason I keep playing the game to this day. GT series goal was never customizing cars, that was only a means to achieve better performance, not pimping cars.
There are other games for that, if that's anyone's aim on a driving simulator.

It doesn't bother me the game doesn't have a high variety of visual customization items.

When we did have racing mods, they added real-life sponsor ads, but the goal was the downforce and weight reduction, not looking cool. There were a number of times I bought two of a car so I could have one racing modded and one that looked good, because I couldn't bring myself to ruin the beauty of my car I had worked hard at just so I could take a turn better.

In GT3 I wanted a way to add downforce and GT4 gave that to me, I only wish it could have been paint matched instead of ricer looking. Now I usually take it off as soon as I finish whatever I needed the downforce for.

Same here, especially for taking shots.

They only look half-decent in less than half a dozen cars, which isn't good odds within a few hundreds...
