I noticed how in the new video, while it's showing one of the in-car views, the handbrake is engaged.

Hopefully they notice that before the official release.

Is the game very hard to drive, or are they having exceptionally bad drivers to try it out?

Almost all of the videos shown have someone driving on the dirt or playing bumpercars the whole time.

Probably the latter - most of the folks at these conventions are probably GT virgins. Plus they are probably using a wheel, too... hence more spinnage than Popeye...

A wheel and the in car view + more realistic physics and road cars can = tough driving. The guy in fafat's video is using a wheel, and you can see him jerk the wheel around to over correct simple mistakes. One thing I noticed is that all the realistic pc sims I've played require smooth steering input just like real life. Who jerks the wheel of their car at 80+mph?

After looking at several videos the cars look much less grippy and stable as compared to GT4. There also looks to be alot of oversteer now as well

The car sounded nice in fafat's video btw

Like i was afraid, steering angle of wheel is not correctly displayed in game. :( (http://www.gamekult.com/video/8193804)

And it says driver is Jean Alesi :)

Edit: RE: DARCwizard Yes graphics are good but gameplay and realism is far more important. Correct steering angle is a thing that does not need 3 months to develope like pretty cars, but has to be done right.

I dont know about anyone else, but if they stopped now and just added all the cars and tracks for the final release, I would be a happy camper. I think PD should be praised for what they have done so far. Come one guys, this looks incredible, and the physics are vastly improved (as we can obviously see from the video). People always find something to complain about :indiff:

Why are all GT fans posting on this site instead of going there and show how it's done? :D

My guess is, not only the guys that drive during these vids don't know the track, they also don't know GT, and probably don't even have a driver's license (or are just lousy drivers).
As Touring Mars said, who does that with the steering wheel while driving?!...

Btw, has anyone seen a vid with professional physics during the race?

It's all this game's fault that I am now begging to my Dad for a pocket money rise as well as washing his car weekly as well as cutting the lawn once a fortnight, until I get my hands on a PS3 with this game (I know it isn't out for a while yet..) I will not rest!!!!

How much would steering wheel size on the virtual car affect the angle of the hands? Also, if the hands are placed differently than the guy playing it will look off.

I couldn't see enough to make that kind of judgement.

Hopefully i am wrong.

I agree.

I don't under stand how so far the comments in this thread have been 70% negative. It seems everybody has this preconceived idea of what GT5 should look like and play like and if falls short of that preconceived idea it is a major let down. Let's be realistic guys

Can someone honestly say they will pass GT5 up if it was released now and looked and played like what we've seen?

15 smarter AI opponents with a super detailed in car view combined with PD's attention to detail concering the modleing of the cars and tracks @ 1080p @ 60fps combined with a new physics engine is more than enough to make this game worthy of the name GT5, not GT 4.5 as some have called it.

BTW, how many of you buy Madden and pretty much any sports game every year just to get updated rosters and a new gimmiky feature? Yet you expect so much more out of GT and PD.

Things worthy of complaining about are the rear view mirrors, lack of a shifting animation and what looks like so far the lack of new sounds for the cars and sound effects like tire screeching

Fortunatly all of that will most likely be fixed when GT5 is released or later on with a patch.

Just like how people rushed to conclusions over the 60 second E3 video they are rushing to conclusions because of what they've seen in blurry, sreaming GT5:P vids with goons behind the wheel

If they can fix the minor problems mentioned and add a few surprises/extras to the final game GT5 will be the best GT ever

All the people commenting on the bad driving:

this is not sitting in your living room working on the perfect run of a track you've raced a hundred times before with the same car. This is sitting down to a new game, with new graphics, physics, & cars (perhaps with an unfamiliar wheel) in a noisy, crowded convention hall with dozens of people peering over your shoulder waiting for their turn.

Not surprising the driving's a little shakey! :)

That brick wall has no graffiti. How boring.

I believe early talk was that there would not be tuning in Prologue. And as I haven't played Forza 2 I doubt I will miss making a car look fugly. I mean God forbid the cars look the way the designers intended, right?

And even if Prologue has customization, why would there be customization on a convention demo? They probably have long enough lines as it is and the last thing they need is some game critic spending an hour trying to get his pimp mobile just right.

Driving a stock car in GT5:P will not bother me as my Gran Turismo goals have been to win with as little messing as possible. And playing GTHD never once made me stop and think how stupid these cars look in their original form.

A...greed.

Having the Race Modifications return would be enough for me, but even if not, I'd rather race stock painted cars than against 15 other cars where 5-7 of them are full of penises and gross anime porn from 12 year olds who think the **** is funny.

Forza can keep those sick little fanboys for all I care.

I was just thinking that! They could have at least got Holl01 to show them up:sly:

That's probably the most sense I have heard all day. I can completely see your point. It isn't even finished yet so those tiny little probelms that people seem to be nit picking at.

We know this game is going to be good like every GT has been. Lets not pressure PD they know what they are doing.

The guy in fafat's video is using a wheel, and you can see him jerk the wheel around to over correct simple mistakes.

In the non-press area there were no wheels. The booth looks like this:

gtfloor2hd5.jpg

HDTVs directly on the floor, a very short pad cable, pad instead of a wheel.

I didn't have access to the Sony press area, but i doubt they have wheels there.

At least one of the cars is on the track on those screens... maybe because it's a straight.

And for that photo, it doesn't seem to be that much pressure on the guy playing, so I'll stick to what I said above about bad drivers/players.

I do agree. Most of the time, I like to win without modifications as I like the skill that is involved rather then just looks. And If there is a chance I'm gonna modify a car, I'm not gonna do it just for show, I'm gonna get it to perform because I'm a racer and I'm all about performance, not some ignorant tuner fan thats all about looks. And people, stop comparing forza to GT. It is getting tiring seeing someone post something about Forza just because GT dozen't have what they wanted so far(at least from what we've seen in the videos). You guys are expecting way too much and need to be happy with what you have now. GT won't and will never be Forza.

...yeah but as long as the physics are those from the HD demo, I am not to much concerned that the physics of the game are very good. I agree all those people r press people and don't know to drive in GT and that is the why it looks that there is less grip ... I'm more than happy seeing this vids. And cannot wait to play it by my self 👍 @ the end PD always delivers !!!

So uhh, on IGN.com they say that Prologue will be Unreleased in US, so I assume that's the case to for canada? WHY?! do they think all of America only likes NASCAR?... (I hate nascar)

anyway! hope they will release it here

GT won't and will never be Forza.

i agree 100%

what we miss now is someone jump in posting a thread comparing physics and realistic between Need4Speed series vs GT5P ........

i might hit my head with my PS3 if i see such a topic .

& guys , the only thing you can judge now is the graphics, everything else have to wait till you play the game

Not that's much better!
I wonder how much would they charge me for that gear?

I noticed one thing, though:
Almost all of the guys that are on the track are on the pitlane or the main straight...

If they say it will be released in North America, then I'm pretty sure Canada is included so be at ease, cool canadian:) As for your question about america liking NASCAR, its been a stereotype thats been coupled with its popularity so thats why.

I think you misread my post, cause it says UNRELEASED, which is sad :(

As for nascar, I'm just mad cause they took away WRC on speed and replace it with all these different shows about nascar, GAH...

To all the people against painting thier cars, if you love your cars being and looking stock so much, don't paint them and mod them up, it's as simple as that really. But having that option gives the people that want to turn a bog standard road car into their own personalised race car, can. And to thoes players, like myself, it adds a whole new level of depth to the game with regards to personalisation, growing attached to your cars and expressing your creativity.

And I've never once raced against anyone with a penis on the side of thier car, or anime porn in Forza 2, in fact, players who are spotted with that get tend to get banned so for them, it's counter productive. As I siad, I've never seen it myself so I don't think it's that big a problem. I do enjoy seeing what other people have come up with though, I like the cars inspired by racing legends and what not most.
