What wheels were used in Leipzig event?

Edit: I found answer from IGN: "in front of each TV is a Logitech steering wheel, bucket seat and a set of shiny gas, brake and clutch pedals."
So it has to be g25?

Hopefully this i just a PR line, but Yamauchi said that he had never played Forza 2, that sounds totally bizarre. I was really hoping GT would try to copy some of Forza's great physics.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3162297

Who ever wrote that article at 1up is a huge Forza fanboy. Let me get out the buckets to collect all the tears shed when KY said he never played his precious Forza, and when he didnt use the triggers to drive

Tell me, with what we've seen and from what PD has said they have planned for GT5 is there any reason not to believe GT5 will wipe the floor with Forza 2 when it is released? And some FYI, custom liveries isn't a Forza developed feature. thats been in racing games for at least a decade even going back to ridge racer on PS1

btw, my top priorities for GT5 in order:

1) Robust Multiplayer, 16 players + deep options
2) Day/night Changes
3) Realistic in car view
4) AI

Time to bring out the infamous pic again

PD is planning to bring custom liveries and much much more to GT5. If this is pic isn't proof I dont know what is. GT5 is going to be a beast of a game

onlineoptionsxf2.jpg

Well, if what's on that screen is entirely featured on GT5 (probably not on Prologue), It'll leave a lot of people wet when playing the game.

I know I'll start saving for those diapers incontinent people use, so I can stay days in a row playing it.

Seriously though, 'Drift Contest'? 'Team Builder'? 'Coloring/Livery Editor'? 'Number Plate Editor'? (don't know exactly what it is but it looks so cool on that screen...)

Assuming all this will be on GT5, is there anyone here feeling still something's missing?

Oh, and can I assume 'Photo Album' means a photomode will be implemented as in GT4? Much better, I mean? :D

Number Plate = License plate. ;)

I'd love to be able to customize that..... If you could put a different one on each car that is.

And I've never once raced against anyone with a penis on the side of thier car, or anime porn in Forza 2, in fact, players who are spotted with that get tend to get banned so for them, it's counter productive. As I siad, I've never seen it myself so I don't think it's that big a problem. I do enjoy seeing what other people have come up with though, I like the cars inspired by racing legends and what not most.

Just because you haven't seen it though, doesn't mean it isn't a big problem. It is. 25% of the Auction House is normally filled with anime porn, and Turn10's reaction to it is sllooooowwwwwww.

We've gone 4 games without customizable liveries, and we can go another 4 without it. I don't understand why people feel it is a necessity when almost every other major racing game has decided not to do it.

Besides that, I prefer GT's way of thinking.

16 cars instead of a paintshop=great imho.
Deciding to have 1,000 layers of paint over 12 cars@60FPS=not focusing on the racing, which is the beef of the game.

Also, why would you want to put decal's on a let's say Ferrari F430 or Audi R8? It would ruin the good looks of them. GT has always seemed to keep the cars as orginal as possible on the outside, I think it should stay like that too.

Oh except for GT4 and the spoiler's but really how many people put them on to make their cars look cool? Really.

I would like a good paint shop with maybe a good livery editor as well, I don't think it needs to be near as expansive as FM2 to be good... But more cars is more important than more colors and I imagine either could be added later if demand is high enough.

I would like to use this post to personally thank Amar212, for that exclusive fot GTplanet.net

I have tried the plus rep, but apparently I need to spread it around.

"The bad news? A North American release has not yet been confirmed. The Europeans and Japanese will get their driving gloves on the game this year, but Yamauchi asked us to solicit fan feedback. They said they'll be evaluating fan interest to see if a US and Canada version makes sense.

You know what to do. If you want it, say so." Kokatu

What does not make sense is ignoring a large part of their market, consumers and retailers alike, twice in a row! From this, we must presume that SONY does not think much of their North American market, retailers and GT fans in particular.

SCEA needs to hear from you, in very clear terms.

Cheers,

MasterGT

I suggest that all GT fans around the world do this. It's time we showed them how united we can get when it comes to delays and ignorance!

Don't get too excited, it's what they said for GT:HD too.

.

Why not? I'm not sure if gt5 physics will make it an all-out sim, but maybe now we can expect that gt4's flaws may be corrected and that our vast collections of cars will finally behave as they should. IMO that's exciting.👍

I just sent my email requesting GT5:P in the US to SCEA from http://www.us.playstation.com/ & I suggest everyone else do the same!!

Hell lets just flood them with emails & calls!
Here's the number 1-800-345-SONY (7669)
Thats it, time to send Bomberman:) I'm gonna do it. In fact, does anyone fancy showing them the link to the petition as well as this thread (or forum) while we're at it?

YA someone start a thread for a petition, it doesn't make sense that they can't release Prologue here!

Not always, I have used my Mastercard with my US account on the US store, so it is possible to do. You are right that not all cards work in the 'wrong' region, but some certainly do.

Regards

Scaff

Damn, not my VISA, mastercard or my parents mastercard work... :(

BTW - what do you use for Country as that is the reason I thought it wouldn't be possible, I can't change the country when on the US or Japanese account to a UK address, which is what all my cards are.

I'm going to break down the video fasj6418 posted in case you haven't downloaded all 222mbs of it

This is nowhere near 100% correct and is only meant to give you an idea of what is said and details on the features of GT5:P

There is a big difference in comparison to the traditional top screens that you would have on a game. Historicly you would have game logo and game modes underneath, second layer would be selection of cars and tracks etc etc.

But at PD we have studied when you combine a racing game with the online features what kind of user interface is necessary and our solution is this. (shows GT5:P startup page)

This is basicly each individual's 'mypage' that you will have in the envirorment of GT5: Prologue. The car in the back ground is something that you can choose, so you can customize your mypage, give it more character, it's more about you. The car is from the selectin that you have obtained, so you choose your car.

The background (the one with the tables in the 'lets find out where this is thread') is from a small town near the Nurburgring Circuit in Germany

It is a beautiful location combined with a beautiful car, fantastic.

You can change both of these elements, the car from your garage and the background. We will be sure to provide a range of background settings to choose from.

Maybe it's a city location like Tokyo at night, maybe its inside a very beautiful architecture building, a various range of locations to choose from.

The enviorments are are like a 3-D wallpaper

The top of mypage is a global map. Here you can show where you are. I could say I am from Tokyo so Tokyo would be flashing and at the same time it would display the time zone in Tokyo, the time in Tokyo as well as the weather. You will aslo be able to see your friends who are online. So ...online friend is not a simple ID number...adding character to that, it brings more to it.

The caldendar feature will help keep schedule or keep track of events that are occurring within the world of GT5:P, online events that we create for online users to enjoy. Any other persons, even individuals can come and schedule events and say "OK, let's all race at Nurburgring this weekend." That kind of information will be made available on the calendar.

We will talk about TV in more detail at TGS, but we will talk about the concept of this. This is non game visual content that surrounds cars. It could be a famous TV program about cars. It could be in house video footage that we generate at PD, how to drive, things of that nature. It could be race footage, it could be something that a car manufaturer could give to us, any car related content would gather here. You will no longer have to browse through TV anymore looking for car related content, it will be here in TV, a very wide amount of car related programs.

Album is a feature that will enable players to post still photo which they take from their experience in GT. You can also post your favorite photos on album. This will also apply to video replays of your race or maybe your best time or best lap at the Nurburgring. You can show off to your friends here.

Profile adds to giving character to your mypage. You can talk a little about yourself, where you are based, your favorite manufacturer, favorite colors, favorite food. You can share these profiles with your friends online. You can check out their profiles. This brings intimacy, friendship.

The ultimate aim for HOME is for a seamless integration between HOME enviorments and GT enviorments. Hopefully someone can open a door in HOME and enter the world of GT and vice versa

Modeling cars is PD's specialty. They try very hard.

  • Average GT5 car is around 200,000 polygons
  • Average GT4 car is around 4,000 polygons
  • Average PGR4 car is around 90,000 - Added by Earth

The gap is 50x

We take it the extra mile, to the extremes

How the glass and lights is cut and molded how it reflects, every little detail we did not miss. We don't want to be sloppy because any little detail can ruin the realism of the car models

The car models have been created by components. The bonnet can be taken off, the bumper can be taken off to allow for future replacement of body parts.

Pit area, driver and crew is decorated according to manufacturer. Each manufacturer must agree with the design

The opening movie of GT4 with the Ford GT in the pitlane can be run in real time in GT5 @1080p

The physics have been rebuilt from scratch + there are 2 modes. Standard is designed for the wider audience. Designed for beginners to intermediate. Still very realistic but more forgiving. Professional is GT's super extreme. The real experience for those who want to improve their driving skills. Less forgiving.

We have received feedback from people. One side says it is too extreme. The other side it is a great game but I want hardcore, more hardcore driving. This is our solution. We hope it will resolve that.

16 cars @1080p only possible with PS3 and the cell processor. Our goal is to raise the bar and the standard.

Now with the interior view it feels more realstic, like you are driving the real thing and you can be more proud of what you are driving.

The entire interior is modeled.

Some elements need work. Hand movements need improvement. Visuals inside the mirrors need improvement. We'll get there.

The leather has stiching and the different textures of leather, plastic whatever material is replicated as accuratley as possible.

The AI has been redesigned. We had to because there are now 16 cars on track. The AI has to be redesigned...

There are more camera angles then from previous GTs, more wide, open camera shots.

Previously with only 6 cars we had to be more creative with the camera angles, using more zoom to create action.

Replay runs at 30fps because we add more effects to the replay.

One of the ultimate goals of GT5:P is revisiting the basics of racing games. Take the core elements and raise them to the next level. 1. Car modeling. We want to stay with the reputation we have, the best possible car modeling. 2. The physics. 3. The AI. Without good AI design the race would not be enjoyable, therefore we redesigned the AI so each of the opponent cars will respect each other. 4. 16 cars will increase the racing experience. We have things like change of weather, tuning, damage, are on our roadmap. We hope to add those in updates, but we want to make the backbone strong first.

We are prefectionists and will always be like that on our franchise.

Q&A

Q: Online Features: Forza fan asks if it will have online features like Forza2

A: I never played Forza 2

Q: How many people will be able to race against each other?

A: We're thinking about a maximum of 16. That relys on those who are trying to connect to eachother and play with eachother. With higher speeds the more

Q: Bluray? North america this year?

A: Available on PSN store and blu-ray. We don't know as of now when it will be released in US market. We will be able to talk about it at a later date. As of today...

Q: How will the physics feel differently?

A: It may only be noticeable for the more experienced drivers. Very noticeable when the car starts to slide. When it starts to slide it has previously been hard to control. But with new physics you can keep the car in a slide with throttle and steering. In Japan there is D1 grand prix drifting. He would do exactly as he would do in the real car in the game. Watching that was releiving because we know he does the same thing in GT as in real life.

Q: Will you have license tests in GT5: Prologue?

A: No

Q: Penalties because of no damage?

A: Yes, timed or speed penalty, maybe a combination of both to ensure the race is not ruined.

Q: How much time is spent modeling?

A: 6 months for 1 car. 180x longer than GT2

We've gone 4 games without customizable liveries, and we can go another 4 without it. I don't understand why people feel it is a necessity when almost every other major racing game has decided not to do it.
So your against progressing in terms of new features and depth? Sure GT will still be good without it, but wouldn't it be a shame if it didn't even attempt to match the features it's rivals offer.

16 cars instead of a paintshop=great imho.
Deciding to have 1,000 layers of paint over 12 cars@60FPS=not focusing on the racing, which is the beef of the game.
Flawed logic, the two are not a trade off. Turn 10 didn't go "it's the livery editor or larger grids guys, what do we choose", they simply couldn't get the game to run smooth with 12 cars on track at once, it wasn't the livery editors fault, it wasn't smooth with 12 standard cars, it just ate the 360's graphics processors. Why everyone has this idea that one feature is always a tradeoff for another is beyond me, instead of "let's keep the larger grids instead", why not, "yeah we can have both", because you know what, we can have both and imo we should have both. And even if you or anyone else doesn't like the feature, you arn't forced to have it. Plenty of people prefer to leave thier cars stock, that doesn't mean PD would be justified in any way to remove the tuning aspect. Likewise, there is very little justification behind GT not matching it's biggest rival in terms of features.

YA someone start a thread for a petition, it doesn't make sense that they can't release Prologue here!
You're right, it doesn't make sense. I just can't imagine how they can come to such a decision, but this is not the first time they have done this.

A petition will do no good. I started such a petition on their home turf and it went nowhere. The only thing that will make them sit up is numbers. There will be no substitute for numbers, this time! If the numbers are not there, I can assure you that you will be playing Tiddly-Winks over the long, cold winter, instead of playing Prologue on-line with anyone else who can get this.

I am also starting a poll on the SCEA forums, but it is not approved yet. When it is available, I will give the particulars for it. I am pretty sure you will have to make a membership there, though, to be able to vote.

Officially, SCEA wants to receive letters, not e-mails or phone calls, for petitioning requests. That is a bit anachronistic, in this day and age, but they would like paper letters. I doubt they will get many, so do what you need to do, to let them know if you want Prologue in North America.

Do similar things at other forums, too, to get the numbers up, making it crystal clear that if they don't tell SCEA, they won't get the game.

Cheers,

MasterGT

Alright then. In fact, I'll start one right in the GT5 forum. I'll even sign the first users in complete support.

Earth - Awesome. 👍+rep

Damn... changing weather, damage, the works! And they're still improving a lot of stuff for the final game.
It's gonna be simply phenomenal!

I can't freakin' wait for this game :D:D:D

I'm really looking forward to the new wheel made especially for the game and infos on that aswell :embarrassed:

It's not just cars! Turn10 sacrificed a lot of things just so we could have a 1,000 layer paint shop and 60FPS, which is crap. I'd prefer larger racing fields and loads more racing tracks and cars instead the disc space being wasted on a paint shop that people use to either re-create racing cars or draw porn, and then sell it all for ridiculous, glitched amounts of money. I bought a racing game to race! Not to paint my car. Unforunately, this is why Forza 2 got old. It focused on everything but racing leaving you to race the same tracks over and over and over.
Why everyone has this idea that one feature is always a tradeoff for another is beyond me, instead of "let's keep the larger grids instead", why not, "yeah we can have both", because you know what, we can have both and imo we should have both. Why do you want a paint shop? It's a f'ing waste. This is about driving real cars, not putting your wildest dreams on a car.

As people have said, this is Gran Turismo, NOT Forza! If you want what Forza has, go play it instead. I'd rather a game that's pushing details already focus on the driving, not how pretty my car looks with boobs and numbers on it.

McLaren I as well as many prefer to race than paint masterpieces but even I love painting a BMW M3 to resemble the Ring-Taxi (GT5 would allow M5 !!) or replicating my favourite BTCC or even just trying to create something random. To dismiss the livery editor of Forza is just strange, it adds more to the game and also allows you to make your car exactly that, yours. I don't get why you hate Forza so much, you are like 2 people when it comes to these games on different boards.

Chill out and realise that the addition of a livery editor to GT would be quality for many and only annoying to some.

PS Forza is boring to some now because of the lack of tracks, nothing else, apart from maybe the glitching, but you know that's getting fixed whenever.

It is very disappointing to see SCEA's marketing mismanagement of the GT series is going to continue with Prologue. Seriously, they want me to write letters? Are these people 60 years old?

I'd like to call attention to this thread (thanks Scaff): https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=96894&highlight=gt+series+sales+figures

In short, GT3 sold far better per capita in the NA market than in any other. SCEA then ignored this market by not bringing any of the lead-up releases to GT4, and GT4 sales have been much slower in NA than GT3. According to SCEA, they didn't want to "confuse" the NA market with the minigames-does that sound familiar? (thanks to MasterGT)

It's appalling to see such an obvious mistake about to be repeated-I feel like I'm being punished for something I didn't do. It isn't my fault SCEA didn't keep interest alive between GT3 and GT4.

How SCEA be so shortsighted? PS3 NA sales are flat, and this series is a system seller. Even people not interested in a racing game can just gape at the visuals. I just can't fathom the thought process here.........

But it doesn't need it. This is NOT Forza!
So, if one game has something good, you take that idea and improve on it. GT4 brought the idea of a photomode to the fore, it wasn't the first, but it made it popualr, a result of that is that other games got onto it. Likewise NFS brought the idea of custom paintjobs beyond simply changing the colours of a set pattern, what did Forza do, it improved on that.

It's not just cars! Turn10 sacrificed a lot of things just so we could have a 1,000 layer paint shop and 60FPS, which is crap.
No it didn't. A lot was missing in Forza 2, but it was not because of the paint shop. It was largy because of time, they didn't spend nearly as much time making Forza 2 as PD will have spent on GT5 by time it launches.

I'd prefer larger racing fields and loads more racing tracks and cars instead the disc space being wasted on a paint shop that people use to either re-create racing cars or draw porn, and then sell it all for ridiculous, glitched amounts of money.
Get porn out of your head, it's something some people may do, but good moderation would see it be a small problem. I might as well start talking about wall riding, again something a lot of people don't like, but it's there in every GT game to date and it's just a simple consequence of a lack of damage to penalise the driver. Why do you even wish that people shouldn't be alloed to get creative with thier cars? Why shouldn't I be allowed the enjoyment of turning my bog standard car into a proper GT car both mechanically and visually? What is wrong with being creative and why shouldn't that be a part of a game that the vast majority of die hard GT fans have claimed "is more about the cars than the racing" in the past?

I bought a racing game to race! Not to paint my car. Unforunately, this is why Forza 2 got old. It focused on everything but racing leaving you to race the same tracks over and over and over.
I used to say that, and I kept getting told GT was a driving game and not a racing game. Ofcourse that's balls, but why can't it be a good racing game and offer a paint shop. there's no reason it can't. Adding a paintshop doesn't ean that all 120 staff members have to take focus off what they're doing and sacrifice thier skills to make it work. It would require lviensing agreements and then a couple of people to work on it, nothing more.

Why do you want a paint shop? It's a f'ing waste. This is about driving real cars, not putting your wildest dreams on a car.
What is GT? It's a game where you collect cars, you collect cars, you tune them and you tweak them to your satisfaction. Making the car meet your satisfaction visually is only the next step, and it most certainly is not a waste considering the enjoyment I and many others have got out of creating ome good looking race cars in Forza 2.

As people have said, this is Gran Turismo, NOT Forza! If you want what Forza has, go play it instead. I'd rather a game that's pushing details already focus on the driving, not how pretty my car looks with boobs and numbers on it.
You really can't get this cartoon porn out of your head. That is miss-use of the system, something that happens with everything. You get an online mode, people miss-use it by ruining peoples races deliberately, you get sometihng that can be exploited and people exploit it, that doesn't mean the feature should not be included, or removed, it just means that they should do thier best to limit any miss-use. Hell, I can go and stab someone with a dinner knife, it doesn't mean dinner knives should be banned because they can miss-used.

As for the "this is GT, gop play Forza 2" comment, do you really have to stoop so low McLaren, your better than that. Surely you should realise that one game borrowing features form another game doesn't turn them into the same game. GT is by far the series with the most potential, but Forza 2 is the series pushing that potential. Both Forza and GT can learn things from each other, it's when one of the games decides it doesn't need to, it could find it'self behind. Why have so many people said GT4 is crap and Forza 2 is great? It isn't because GT4 pushed the series forwards in any way, because it didn't barring the photomode. Which, according to your logic should not be included. Then again, neither should flashy menu's, nor 3d car selections whn a simply 2d picture, or even just choose the car by it's name. Oh and thoes replays, get rid of thoes as well, they take away from the focus of the driving.

you see where this can go, there is a lot in GT that you probably already enjoy that already takes away from the focus of the game, things like Photomode and a paintshop would go hand in hand, what seems to bother you is the level of extra depth such features add to a game. WWhy adding depth is a bad thing in your eyes is beyond me.

And while other people have been saying "this is GT, not Forza" there seems to be only you saying that a paint shop would be a negative aspect of the game. Other people are saying that GT doesn't need it to be good, and I'd agree, but the consensus seems to be that having it would be better than not, and imo a lot better.
