Premium/Standard Jaguar comparison

Seems to me the typical excuse that comes around. No, it wasn't obvious. All throughout development, at trade shows, even the commercials I see TODAY we don't see standard cars on 'standard' tracks. We see the premium glory cars on the best looking tracks. And as I said very late in development did we first hear of the car disparity. When drilled by the pros, PD/Kaz finally stated some of the differences. And as the game was 'delayed', press releases just a week or two before release doesn't garner an acceptance that people still didn't understand exactly what the discrepancies were. Many of these discrepancies we found out after the game was launched, as in never mentioned by PD nor any of the reviewers of the game. Things like no photo travel mode for standards, no wheel upgrades, no working wipers and no premium rain splash effects, not just the lack of cockpits. You want to be blind to this, by all means be but I'm not. It's funny how some of the most extreme fans always defend PD/Kaz and resort to pointing fingers at those showing reality for what it is or being critical or judgmental over something they don't like. It's always everyone else's fault BUT PD and their decisions. FYI, I followed GT5's development A LOT ever since it was first announced and I bought the game on day 1. I've bought every GT game on day 1 except GT1, where I got into it a bit late.

Actually the disparity between standard and premium cars was known a fair few months before the release. Here is an article from the news page from June 2010 (more than 5 months before GT5's release)

It also mentions that screenshots had already been released showing standard cars.

Reading the Article there, it says the undersides of cars were done... i haven't noticed that, well i haven't really checked... but... can i see a photo or perhaps a link to a thread showing me this :scared:?

You don't remember the fuss when one of the undersides turned out to be a copy of a Matel model complete with screw heads and AUTOart logo ;)

All said and done, when I purchase DLC I feel like I'm paying the wages of the person who put their heart and soul into producing these cars to the tiniest detail. That makes it worth it to me.

I've purchased all packs so far, and will purchase all packs in the future. Because of course, cars are cars and the more the merrier.

Took the thoughts right out of my head.

So what if Sony or PD want to make us pay for the DLC. Beats buying cigarettes and alcohol. Hell, it even beats buying food sometimes.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

If you can't afford it every 1 or 2 months, you are living beyond your means or, you need to do more chores to earn some extra pocket money.
 
Black wheels are the wheels it used in Le mans, gold wheels are used in smaller, less big events :sly:

The black wheels are the real wheels the Jaguars used in 1988 (and 1989). They are however made of magnesium and therefore are not the best solution for when the car makes appearances nowadays for historic racing. Thus, for historic racing, the car uses more reliable gold BBS rims. The standard car was modeled on one of these cars used in historics which had the incorrect rims on it.

A little off-topic:

If the GT-One reborns in premium form... it will be incredible :dopey:... HOWEVER... if it comes with the same pathetic engine sound... it will be an epic fail... :ouch: I've said it a thosand times: The GT-One sounds horrible!!! Even my blender sounds better :grumpy:

I completely agree! I refuse to use the Toyota GT-One or Sauber C9.They sound absolutely TERRIBLE in GT5. Not even in a premium model, unless they change that horrid engine sound in the game.
 
also the jag is missing it's coolant fans and the yellow square surrounding the purple box where the silk cut used to be.

I wouldn't be surprised if, when the car actually competed in the World Sportscar Championship, there were no fans there at all as they could've been considered a moving aerodynamic device. Or perhaps, again when the car actually competed in the WSC, cooling fans weren't needed as the car gets enough cooling just from moving at high speed which is probably a more likely reason. Most race cars don't actually need cooling fans at all. Those fans might just be used for special events to keep the engine of this very special car healthy. Either of these two reasons may be why the fans weren't modelled although I'm not 100% sure on this.

Can't find any period photos of the car from an angle where they'd be visible, but none of the detailed period scale models of the car feature cooling fans. Like you said, they wouldn't require them when racing, but the Jag was used for slow street parades at celebration events, so were probably added later for the reasons you stated.
 
Blue icon means the hi-beams are on, no blue icon (at night) puts the lights into dipped. Hi-beams should illuminate more of the scenery, when dipped they illuminate the road. It is the same with all Premos, on standards they are always on hi beam reguardless of blue icon.

agree, but on my premium jag High beams on (blue icon on) = less actual illumination of the road (v strange)

All we got from that is no cockpits and not as much detail as premiums. Like I mentioned, a lot of the disparity was only discovered after GT5 was released (or leaked from folks who got it earlier).


Since we're discussing other prototypes... I'd LOVE an Audi R18 and one of the latest Pug 908s, especially now that Pug pulled a frenchy and pulled out of LeMans and WEC :ouch:

That model PD used for those fans ... is quite dissapointing to say the least :banghead:

What fans? There are no fans in the model. Which is exactly what was pointed out. PD modeled the radiators exactly, they're just lacking the additional fans that are seen on the car now (but which may not have been there originally).

Again, please actually read the posts here before simply coming up with yet another reason to add yet another post to this thread.

Isnt it better to have pixilated terrible quality, no interior standards than 800+ cars removed from the game :confused: What would GT5 be with only 200+ cars in the game ! Then there'd just be more complaining that there arent enough cars :indiff: ..
