Premium/Standard Jaguar comparison

Maybe not the part about how it should've been premium in the first place, but maybe if you spoke of it just as a free upgrade.

I'd have to agree with his sentiment. Kazunori explicitly stated, just as he did with the Scirocco, that he was disappointed as it was one of the cars that missed the launch window.

Of course, me saying this is complete heresy but why did we have to pay for content you couldn't get into the game for whatever reason? If that's the case you'd may as well have charged me for the Standard XJR-9. I was charged for the Scirocco and that was clearly done before it was released, what, last month?

Couple of small differences I've noticed between the two, aside from the obvious changes.

1. The #9 above the fuel filler hole on the standard. Not on the premium.
2. Middle air intake is shaped differently when looking at it from the front.
3. The #2 on the front appears to be a different font, and the words 'Jaguar' and 'Castrol' appear to have been resized.
4. The way the driver's names are written on top of the door is different.

Anything else?

Okay so did the Audi R8 and Peugeot 905, my point is there's plenty of other cars just as worthy, I don't understand why just this one. I'm not complaining, I think its an awesome car, just a bit confused.

I agree with this, and I'm sure they had the ability to do the Audi R8 especially if given the R10. Maybe down the road we will get the R15/R15+ and R18. I agree with the rest of you guys the Group C and early LMP cars should be upgraded first and then the LMP cars upgraded the new ones added.

All of what you said has to do more with the pixel factor and how low the resolution of the ported cars really were. This makes the game feel a bit cheap when standard and premiums are compared and really shows how far ahead the premiums are. If you look at the points you make they are the same when you stare closely, the difference is that the Premium is just that much greater resolution and so on.

I tend to agree. Again, I kinda understand 100% new content, but upgrading standards to premium..... you'd think they'd be doing that with a few different cars per patch and changing the status without making a big deal about it.

I too can understand having to pay for a 100% brand new never seen in game before premium car. But paying for just an upgrade from standard to a premium?. Something just sounds so wrong with that.

Maybe its just me, who knows.

Does the premium one sound better than the standard? It seemed to, but I forgot how the standard one sounds like. :D

I noticed no difference in sound, although I'm tone deaf after 5 years in the U.S. Army. The new cockpit is awesome, provides a great view.

The sad part about it is if they find out that people are going to buy it, there will probably be more conversions in future packs and less new cars.

Sad thing is though?. Even though i dont agree with this practice i went ahead and purchased the new pack anyway. I have all of them, and knowing me,i will keep buying any DLC that gets released.

Still isnt right though. I know, say it enough and i will start believeing it...lol.

All said and done, when I purchase DLC I feel like I'm paying the wages of the person who put their heart and soul into producing these cars to the tiniest detail. That makes it worth it to me.

I've purchased all packs so far, and will purchase all packs in the future. Because of course, cars are cars and the more the merrier.

I wholeheartedly agree 👍

The cockpit and the exhaust sounds are similar to the Ferrari 330 P4. It even has that odd tach and the little dome too.

Doesn't really explain my first observation:

1. The #9 above the fuel filler hole on the standard. Not on the premium.

Which makes me wonder whether you actually read my post OR actually looked at the pictures. Because I can see where there are pixel changes you described, but I can also see where things have flat out been changed.

That's fine and dandy really, but it is quite easy to see why people dislike the calls Sony/PD have made on the content for GT5.

Well there are already Audi and Peugeot premium Le Mans cars, so I guess they want to spread it around a bit.

I believe that number is an identification number for Goodwood, so it makes sense to remove it.

I did read it, and I've read the entire thread and seen the same pictures that have been posted through out it. I didn't see that hose when I looked, I looked at the font that you thought was different, it isn't but the poor pixel resolution on the ported car makes it seem that way; same goes with the color being poor on the standard but much more vibrant on the Premium. Also the lighting on the standard car is weird compared to that of the Premium, I don't doubt they changed things because the exterior view of the cockpit is an obvious change from the standard to premium. I'm just saying most of what you said and I could see isn't a flat out change but just a updated piece that probably didn't take too much work. Not here to argue with you.

You assume it was PD's decision to charge for it in the first place. ;)

I did put Sony/PD if you want to ignore the obvious sony part that's fine. This is me obviously showing that it was probably a mutual choice by both parties, it is also an assumption to go the way you are. It is facepalm worthy though for you to do such a thing.

I will agree that either way, it didn't take too much work. That's what worries me. If they find out they can start charging us for more of these conversions, we will soon be getting DLC packs with ,say, a Pagani Huayra and 5 conversions. I will happily pay for new cars all day long. I didn't even have a problem with the similar premiums such as the 2012 GT-R and 2011 Cooper S. But I feel that if they want to convert some cars, they should be included in the updates and not as part of DLC.

PS:Thanks for the tip about that being a Goodwood number ed24. Dldn't know that.👍

Eh, Sony/PD or just PD it doesn't really matter.

But, I'm just going to say "agree to disagree" because I don't feel like arguing with anyone anymore. It's just too funny.

Edit: And it didn't take long for this thread to go WAY off topic. As usual.

The standards Purple is so.. dull and terrible compared to the Premium. I would have never guessed without a premium comparison !

I 100% agree with you, but with other games in the past getting away with charging a high premium for just a couple of cars on other games, I'm not surprised if Sony is wanting PD to do it the way you've explained.

I think that Sony may see giving away the past cars that have been given away as lost revenue and want to stop that now as interest goes up for GT5 again.

Yeah now imagine what cars like your user name would look like. I think a Toyota GT1 premium would be quite nice.

Hoping for more Group C and LMP cars in the future. There are already some great ones in the game, but most are obviously standard. Some others I think are worthy

Porsche 962 (probably impossible, but perhaps the Dauer version might not be)
Mazda 767B
Mazda RX-792P
Audi R18

And of course the absolutely brutal, legendary Sauber C9 needs to be made premium. What a machine that is. Also, I think that some of the lesser C2 cars of the group C era are worth noting, machines from Spice and such would be a cool addition.

Something about closed cockpit prototypes just gets me going. There is something elemental there. It must be the fighter-jet like cockpit. I love driving the closed cockpit race cars at night in GT5, seeing how these legendary endurance racers appear in the dark, where a considerable portion of their time is spent. Very evocative things GT5 is capable of.

👍 Don't forget the C11

Honestly i think they should make the R390 and Toyota GT1 premiums first, In Gt3 thats all the LMP you were gunna get, (the 767B too, but they got that one covered, thank god) and i recall back in those days i always dreamed of having one of those (i was terrible at GT back then..), what im trying to say is that, they should start with the old, before the new. But the 787B is a start i suppose

It looks to me that they've made the premium versions purple too light compared to the real car, even in photos of the real thing in good lighting it doesn't look that bright. Still looks a million times better than the standard though :)
