Premium/Standard Jaguar comparison

It looks to me that they've made the premium versions purple too light compared to the real car, even in photos of the real thing in good lighting it doesn't look that bright. Still looks a million times better than the standard though :)

In response to that, can someone get a Premium to Real life comparison? :sly: And now looking at real pictures, i wonder why PD didn't add the "SILK CUT" logo right on the front. perhaps a licensing issue..

It's because it's a cigarette brand, i don't think it's legal to display it on the car.

Curse the Rating system! No underage kid will even know what "SILK CUT" means! They'll just think its some Oil company of some sort. But life is life :indiff:

Just do a google image search and you'll see plenty of comparisons. There is of course the chance that the XJR-9 that PD had access to was a restored one that was repainted in a slightly lighter shade but the photos I've saw of it racing definitely don't look that shade of purple and the Silk Cut brand purple is also deeper.

Cigarette advertising is banned in most countries, that's why.

I was fasinated by this car in Gt4 and as a standard in Gt5, but ive never been more hooked to this car than now, i feel alot of miles coming on to this bad boy.

Well, how do the lap times compare? :)

I've just been testing both. They do drive different. My lap times were always beter with the standard version. The premium version seamed to not turn as well, and it oversteered alot more for me.Still alot more driving to do,those are my first impersions.

It oversteered really? I thought myself that it improved in terms of handling ! Well my Standard wont be seeing much light anymore, so mind as well get used to the premium :dopey:

While I have no issues at all with the Jag being the first LM standard to premium conversion, after all it is more then worthy and as others as stated unlike many of the preferred Japanese lemans entries it was actually successful and maybe warrants that privilege, I cant agree with the price. While new cars are completely new we have had the Jag for a while and this is just a visual upgrade to car which (should at least) drives exactly the same.

The car pack DLC is a little on the pricey side already and I would much prefer it if S>P conversions were either free and awarded as prizes for the seasonal races or had there own discounted rate, maybe 1/3rd of the price of a completely new car.

Personally though the McLaren F1 GTR* should have been higher on the list being a lemans winner despite being only a GT car.

*why for all the love of the gods of Akatosh is this not already in as the RM for the F1.

I think The GTR is alittle more than just a RM of an F1

Check it out already a thread and in it people expecting to get stuff for free again:indiff:. Doesn't get old does it?

These cars obviously were not completed when the game was released, you are paying for them because this was done after the game already shipped, meaning this is extra work, thus someone has to get paid for doing extra work. Do you do your job for free when they call you in on your days off to work? I think not, where do you get off wanting anything for free at all? Why do you deserve anything for free? These people had to endure an earthquake followed by a Tsunami and subsequently a nuclear meltdown...now having to move to their offices to another location altogether they still were able to get updates out WHICH WERE FREE BY THE WAY! Yet you complain that hey this car should have been free because it's an upgrade from the standard one...nice logic.

Look PD gave out quite a bit of free stuff during the course of GTP and GT5, you guys are ridiculous to expect to just get a lot of stuff for free when it is costing someone somewhere time and money to get it onto your systems. Free, this word is tossed around all too easily. Nowhere on the box does it say free DLC, nor upgrades, only things that should be free are updates the the system for stability and keeping the game running smoothly. No PD does you one better, they give us free cars and rearrange the game to better suit our tastes because we kicked and screamed that we wanted it. Now you're finally getting charged and you want to complain. Not like someone is twisting your arm to buy anything. I have only bought the first DLC and will only get the track pack for this one as I have more than enough cars to deal with. One day I'll get to the other car packs but I have zero uses for them at the moment, I haven't even used a single one of the TC cars on either account. Standard cars reign supreme on my console, I use them to no end. Love them and wheel changes makes them look even better. Premiums look awesome but I'm a bit bored with them as they just haven't gotten my attention like the standards have.
How about we all just be thankful that we get DLC to choose from and a freebie here and there and updates that help make our game better than it started out.

Pricey? The DLC works out at 80 pence per car, it's in line with other driving games and exactly the same as TDU2 who's DLC cars have all been nothing more than cars in the game with different skins. GT5 DLC is certainly not pricey.

I think Sony/PD have been damn fair with their DLC pricing compared to other games. But people just want stuff for free, EA and Activision are the Worst! NFS series actually offers you to unlock cars that you could easily unlock playing the game for 2$. If anyone did that, they are just throwing their money away!

I look at as an investment. I buy their DLC which goes to support them in making more DLC or making GT6 better. 10$ is a steal for the most recent DLC.

To stay on topic, I'd pay for standard to premium upgrades. Doesn't bother me.

Wow wow wow ! This is a thread dedicated to my new favorite car ! If you have nothing involving the car to talk about, it should be taken elseware! Theres probably, 10 other threads that are all about DLC pricing, and how unfair it is. And thats where it should stay.:ouch::grumpy:

So.. I'm sorry if I missed this answer already, but does the Standard version of the car go away when you purchase the DLC or is it in the Garage with the Premium version?

Is it just me, or the Jag looks like it was made by angels???... It's soooo gorgeous!!!! :dopey:👍

I'm in love with it! I'm gonna make a run at the All Stars Championship with it tomorrow morning! :)

To DaihatsuDriver: If you already own the Standard version of it, it will remain in your garage...

I got rid of the Standard one after I saw the Premium one... ;)

No, you keep both. Which is pretty cool. I did all the mods available to the standard one and kept the premium stock.

Then you must buy another from the dealership to truly appriciate what PD has done to this car... by driving it in cockpit view around La Sarthe:sly:

What do you mean? I still drive it, already did a couple of laps around Route X in it. I just also have a modded-out standard that I also drive. Trust me, none of my cars are garage queens.👍

Ahhh i was confused by what ya meant! I thought you meant you had a Premium just sitting in your garage collecting dust! That would be MADNESS !

When I get the DLC pack the Standard is going buh bye. It's a shame that it will keep appearing in my UCD as a car I don't have :nervous:

In which case, you mind as well keep it? As a reminder that PD stepped there game up, even just alittle bit:tup:

I think The GTR is alittle more than just a RM of an F1

The 1995 F1 GTR really actually was what amounts to an RM version of the F1 IRL...All that was changed was the front end for better aero, interior stripped out, engine left stock and just restricted to 600hp, rear wing added and some racing slicks + racing brakes thrown on for good measure...oh and don't forget the carbon brakes used during the longer enduros.

I spotted a huge problem with the car. They totally missed the words SILK CUT. On the side.

Its a shame we can't reproduce pieces of history properly because of CURRENT anti smoking advertising laws. Its like portraying ww2 without any killing or weapons.

Learn somethin new everyday :dunce:

I'd rather the car have ONE missing logo than perhaps the entire PD company getting sued for an Anti smoking law wouldn't you agree :sly:

Can't agree more on that! 👍
It hurts my eyes so much everytime when I look at the pixelated FINA livery of the F1 GTR Race Car '97! :yuck: This is also one legendary car that needs to have premium conversion treatment on the first-priority list! 👍
