I damand Toyota GT1 first !
You're right too! :sly:
The GT-ONE (TS020) Race Car '99 is also on my priority premium conversion treatment list! 👍

I want a GT-One Road Car. Like the one that was in GT3.

That's also a good idea mate! I wonder why PD removed it from GT4 and GT5. But then we still have the R390 GT1 Road Car in the car list... maybe Nissan is more of a friend to PD than Toyota? :dopey:

The road car was worthless if you ask me, as much as i love the Toyota Gt1 (well... its my user name ) They were practically the same thing, no power difference almost ! One had livery, while the other did not, and if you ask me.. the car is a bit plain without all the livery :sly:

Plain look to you = clean look to me.:sly:

I'd like to have the '98 livery (the white stripy one) for the GT-ONE (TS020) Race Car as much as the Road Car, which you can now change the body colour of it! 👍

Kinda pissed me off that we already had this car in the game as a standard, and now we had to pay good money to be able to use it as a premium. It should of came as a premium to begin with.

Anyone else feel this is wrong and shady practice?, or is it just me?.

AA
No you are not the only one, I remember when they released the game Kaz stated they didn't have enough time to realize all the premium models, now they made this one and instead of adding it as a free upgrade they put in a commercial DLC. Indeed it's a shady practice expecially if we consider the long run. Maybe I might consider to buy this pack but I hate this Bad Corporation style behaviour.

They were correct for Le Mans in 88 and the IMSA Castrol cars. Yet they raced the gold ones (which they do look better on the Silk Cut car) at other races. Most likely an aero/stability thing.

They always ran in period with the black wheels. It's only since people have started racing them in historic meetings that wheels have been changed to the 3-piece BBS wheels that the Standard version runs. No doubt down to the brittleness that mag wheels are susceptible too over the years.

Oh well, nice but not worth the money for a car I'm probably not going to use.

I can understand charging a few bucks to add brand new cars, but to charge to pretty up content that already exists seems..... wrong.
It's only one of the cars to be fair...the rest aren't in the game. 👍

No one cant love a premiun car from GT5, but have to pay for replace a '96 graphics model for a '12 one is not fair.

ps: all this in a 2010 game, not fair.

Hey! Looks not thaaat much different to me! Seems like it only needed a bit of work from PD to convert. And makes hope that PD can convert more standards.

To further expand on this, the Standard Model car is clearly modeled on a car used in historics, as it has the gold BBS rims that were never run by the team in 1988 or 1989. Further evidence of this is the grey #9 sticker above the fuel filler cap as pointed out by another user - this is an identification sticker from the Goodwood Festival of Speed. I believe this sticker is also visible on some other cars in GT5 (Mazda 787B comes to mind).

It seems likely that either PD has modeled the Premium Model car on a different chassis which utilizes the original black rims and lacks the Goodwood sticker, possibly coming from Jaguar or TWR's archives, or the person who originally ran that car in historics has further modified it to a more original specification. I'd learn toward the first option as, with many historics, owners tend to modify their cars to mimic the more famous Le Mans-winning cars. Mazda in fact has repainted several 787s and 787Bs to mimic the car that won Le Mans.

As for the "other" car pictured earlier in this thread, that is an XJR-9. The car in the game is an XJR-9 LM. Two totally different cars. There is also a further XJR-9D which ran Daytona.

👍 Don Law prepares many of the TWR Jags that are used in historic meetings. Looking at his website, all the cars he looks after have the BBS's. The actual '88 Le Mans winner is in the Coventry Motor Museum and still has the 'black' Dymags it used in the '88 and '89 seasons.

When PD modeled the Standard XJR-9, they must have used photos taken at one of the Goodwood FoS meetings or Silverstone Classic. For the Premium version they were probably sent to Coventry.

I can go even further, frankly. This is likely the car used to model the Standard version.. Gold BBS rims, and Goodwood sticker over the left fuel filler, although it does not say #9, it does seem the sticker pictured there is covering another sticker.

This is the car in the Conventry Motor Museum that appears to be the most likely candidate for the Premium model. Black rims, no sticker on the left fuel filler cap, but it does have a Goodwood sticker on the right fuel filler cap. There's no way to tell in Chubigan's photos if the Premium model has this sticker on it because we can't see the right side. However, if the car does have that sticker, then this is the car PD used to remodel the XJR-9 LM.

I'd imagine that they are one and the same car (the one in the museum and the one on display at the Silverstone Classic). The wheels will likely have been swapped over for safety reasons.

And that's how they trick people, with the "well, it's only one" mentality. The standard model is already in the game it should have been updated for free, last year their statement was "we are sorry we didn't have enough time" now they start throw in content in commercial DLCs that should have been in the game for free, even a year later. If that's the rule imagine how much money you need to buy 800 standard to premium convertions.
They didn't have enough time or they didn't want to?

lol, I thought it was a Dutch thing to want everything for free, but apparently the rest of the world thinks the same.

It takes time to create a new model. Just to be clear: The fact that we are charged for this is normal. The fact that we get some content for free is exceptional.
Now, one could argue about the Jag having the same price as the other cars (which we assume, it could be that the jag only costs $0.25, but the Lambo is $1,75). It is likely that it takes less time to upgrade a standard model to premium than it takes creating a completely new car. It probably takes even less time creating a 'new' '11 mini cooper from the old one.
If we keep following this path we could also argue that it takes less time to create a Volkswagen Scirocco than it takes creating a Lambo Aventador.
So, if we talk 'fair' we would probably have to pay a different amount for each car. If you want the Aventador, you pay $1.87, for the Bug you pay $1,75 (it's rather complex), the mini only costs $0,34 etc. The Jag would magically cost $2.87, because although we THOUGHT that upgrading a standard was easier, there was a lot to model in the Jag and it was very complex.... etc.
This is only the time spent creating the models and the profit PD/Sony want to make on it.

There is another side to this 'fairness'. We can safely assume that all these models are part of the PS4/GT6 development process and are 'downgraded' for use on PS3. So... for this to be completely fair we should get some sort of discount for GT6 based on the amount of development we already paid for...

What I am trying to say is: Just buy the DLC or don't. We don't know anything about the development process and cost so there is no way of determining what's "fair".
