Premium/Standard Jaguar comparison

What I am trying to say is: Just buy the DLC or don't. We don't know anything about the development process and cost so there is no way of determining what's "fair".
So considering you can't purchase standard to premium convertions singly, because they add them in DLC packs (with a range of 5 / 6 euro), to complete Gran Turismo 5 as it should have been, with no standard cars, you need to speed 800 * 5 = 4000 euro, or 800 * 6 = 4800 euro. That's what I'm saying, it's not hard to understand. :)

Whipped this up...it's pretty amazing how much difference a premium car can be.

Have them both, That standard does not seem to far behind though "imo" which is very impressive.

Fixed that for you.

You assume a lot based on one upgraded premium that happens to be in a car pack with new cars.

Furthermore, I understand what your saying, but do you understand my point of view?

Not seem to far behind? Don't know about you but square edges and pixelation isn't exactly cutting edge like the new premium is...

I use the cockpit view so the premium is a nice jump up for me.

Look, PD isn't going to upgrade every standard in the game to premium. They aren't going to be releasing 400 dlc packs or something. I'd bet in the end no more than a dozen standards get the upgrade treatment. The Jag is one car in a 6 car pack selling for 5 bucks. Pretend you are paying a buck each for the other five and the Jag is a throw-in and relax...

Model wise the standard is ok, but the texture lets it down, can't wait to get this car in DLC though, my favourite racecar of all time.

I can go even further, frankly. This is likely the car used to model the Standard version.. Gold BBS rims, and Goodwood sticker over the left fuel filler, although it does not say #9, it does seem the sticker pictured there is covering another sticker.

This is the car in the Conventry Motor Museum that appears to be the most likely candidate for the Premium model. Black rims, no sticker on the left fuel filler cap, but it does have a Goodwood sticker on the right fuel filler cap. There's no way to tell in Chubigan's photos if the Premium model has this sticker on it because we can't see the right side. However, if the car does have that sticker, then this is the car PD used to remodel the XJR-9 LM.

I know its wrong of me but I really want that R8 on the upper right of the picture.

The Jaguar looks stunning at night goin down La Sarthe at 220 MPH ! I wanna run the 24h le mans in this bad boy !

As a note to all : thr bspec la sarthe seasonal will destroy the jaguar completely, it lacks in the handling department compared to the damn pescarlo's, audi's ect

Nicely done comparison. I've put a few miles on the premium Jag and I say I'ts bloody well worth it, turning it premium and all that. The Hunaudières at night sounds wonderful.

"You know what this game needs. a 1957 Chevy to drive in practice mode"-NeuroticVows

or a primer gray '55 with a big block

You don't think a PS3 game should have shipped with PS3 quality cars throughout? That is what sucks about paying for this upgrade, because it's just upgrading to the quality it should have been to start with. There shouldn't have been such a thing as standard and premium, everything should have been at PS3 quality. It wasn't and they're fixing it, but charging us extra money for them to bring a car up to the quality that matches the console is ridiculous to me.

I too can understand having to pay for a 100% brand new never seen in game before premium car. But paying for just an upgrade from standard to a premium?. Something just sounds so wrong with that.

Maybe its just me, who knows.

AA

Your not the only one. Now if we got Lucas's car, I wouldn't mind because its new to GT. But as others are saying this car should have been free, along with the Beetle.

But hey if some people are happy to get the car no matter them having to pay for it, then I'm happy for them.

I make myself official Mod of this thread! :sly: Keep this blasted Price talk in the 400 other DLC pricing threads there are about it! This thread is for talk of The Jaguar XJR-9 and other things close to it, (such as my beautiful Toyota Gt1).

Hate to break it to you but you can't do that. This thread was clearly about the standard to premium conversion of the Jaguar. It was nothing to do with 'your' Toyota until someone brought it up, probably you.

Relax there buddy, Jokes shouldnt be taken seriously

At least They could put some better HD texture on all the standards and it would help a lot...

In a non Jaguar related case:sly:, i think making more premiums would be the better idea, rather than improving the old, but look at me, im going off topic now :ouch:

This car should be free for everyone. The other 5 cars I can see being charged for in DLC but the Jag that's already in the game should have been made free to all.

You coulda been stuck with a standard, pixilated, black cock pitted Jaguar instead :sly:?

Fixed for truth :dopey:
And we already have 800+ standards that fit that description. I'm just one of those folks that feels duped by the standards and if any standard to premium updates happen, it should be free as that's the level that Kaz wanted for all cars in GT5, NOT the standards. Would have been a nice bonus in my book to the core fans still playing the game. Instead you need to buy the car pack in order to get it. :yuck:
And yes, I bought the car pack :)

BTW, I'm a big Toyota GT1 fan and I hope this becomes premium too. I used to love driving that car on redrock valley raceway in GT2 (?).

My new best friend !:dopey: Forgot the no windshield wipers part! how boring it was to watch the le mans 24hr in cockpit view with my bently, i couldnt see the track :ouch:

Yea I dont agree with paying for standards being upgraded.Hopefully people bring this to their attention. But since I wanted this I dont mind paying.

They could've done that. We would've had around 250 cars and have new ones added every 2 months.
I don't feel cheated about it at all and I am very glad they added the 800 standard cars instead of just giving us the premium cars.

To all that hate on being charged for standard to premium (oh there was 5 other cars added in the DLC) All new by the way..! PD still needs funds to go out and grab real models of these standard cars, do you really think they want to charge us? if you want more Standard to premium, dont get all pissy over the ONE that came with FIVE NEW cars which every seems to disregard..

Nobody is disregarding that, the simple fact of the matter is if you want a PS2 to PS3 quality upgrade of the Jaguar you have to pay extra money.
