I think that PD are getting themselves into a dodgy area with this. I agree it should be a free upgrade but with so many standards to upgrade they are never going to do that for free.....and with 5 other cars in the pack I can stomach getting this one without feeling I am paying for it.

I would imagine if PD are going to upgrade more standards they would do it in the same way. Give some new cars and mix the upgrade in with it.

I dunno, I'm just in the camp that the car already exists in the game and we shouldn't be charged for it. We already have 5 other cars in this pack. This single 1 car should have been given away to all as a freebie. We've gotten free cars before via updates and patches that were essentially new cars, so why have this one be part of it? As part of patch 2.03 it should have been given away as a free one to everyone. Just my 2cents on it. I wouldn't doubt that we see a few more standards to premiums and be charged for it. This could even be PD testing the waters on charging for premium updates. At the end of the day we shouldn't have to pay for a bandaid half assed attempt. I know most here won't like what I just said but that's life. Definitely like that it's a premium now but now I have 2 of the same LM Jags, where 1 looks stunning and the other looks like an HD port, missing a cockpit, missing working wipers, and doesn't have the same splash effects on the windows during rain. We should not have gotten standards at all is what I'm saying. Maybe PD should have released the GTHD, because I'd be fine expecting the models and tracks to be HD updated PS2 models. This is full fledged GT5 and it's the first time ever, in any game, in any genre, on any platform that we got disparity in content, especially to this degree. I think this Jag standard was one of the better looking standards too btw.

Is it about the money because last time I checked developing the model for that car is not free and last time I checked there are very little things in the world that are truly free.
I am sorry but the game came out saying and listing the premium and standards cars. This premium Jag was not on their. Therefore this is extra (that is what DLC is for those who complain for every DLC pack to come out). You expect them to give it for free lol.

Its kind of pathetic how some people act like they are obliged to somethings in this game. You paid for the game that is it. Whether you think its unfinished or not it is your fault as you should have doen the research.

By the way it looks like there is a lot of information failure in this thread.

THE ONLY REASON WE GOT THIS JAG IS BECAUSE IT WAS PARTLY MODELLED JUST BEFORE THE GT5 WAS RELEASED. KAZ SAID FOR DLC HE IS NOT GOING TO REMODEL STANDRAD CARS TO PREMIUM BUT FOCUS ON NEW CARS.

Not sure if you noticed but every time PD promoted GT5 during development and at trade shows, showed off demos, showcased images and videos, it was always of premium cars in 'premium' tracks. Very late in the game they mentioned the standard vs premium car split, eventually updating their main site showing what a standard would look like but did not mention the lack of cockpits (patched in now, in black silhouettes), the lack of being able to go into photo travel, the lack of working wipers and windshield splash effects of rain, lack of wheel upgrades (patched in now), etc with standards. They continued to showoff GT5 in all premium form. It's what we expected, the jaw dropping premium goodness. And the bulk of content is not the premium goodness but rather the standard ports we got. There's no reason to defend this because doing so is saying it's OK. I suppose it is what it is...

If the Jag LM racer was partly modeled before GT5 launch then why did we only get it now 14+ months AFTER GT5 was released in the 3rd DLC car pack??
I personally think this is PD testing the waters on charging for standard to premium DLC. Not all cars will get upgraded of course but if they see a want and without much flack they will most likely release a standard to premium DLC and charge you for it.

And please note that I paid real money for this car pack. I'm not judging this based off of internet images or youtube videos or what I tried out at a friends house. This is me, a fan of racing games, a long time fan of the GT franchise, just criticizing and discussing what I like/dislike and want/do not want.

The Jag trolled me hardcore. Since there is no actual redline color on the tach, I keep over revving it.

Other than that, I love the field of view available to you. Modern prototypes really need addressing in that area.

Check it out already a thread and in it people expecting to get stuff for free again. Doesn't get old does it?

These cars obviously were not completed when the game was released, you are paying for them because this was done after the game already shipped, meaning this is extra work, thus someone has to get paid for doing extra work. Do you do your job for free when they call you in on your days off to work? I think not, where do you get off wanting anything for free at all? Why do you deserve anything for free? These people had to endure an earthquake followed by a Tsunami and subsequently a nuclear meltdown...now having to move to their offices to another location altogether they still were able to get updates out WHICH WERE FREE BY THE WAY! Yet you complain that hey this car should have been free because it's an upgrade from the standard one...nice logic.

Look PD gave out quite a bit of free stuff during the course of GTP and GT5, you guys are ridiculous to expect to just get a lot of stuff for free when it is costing someone somewhere time and money to get it onto your systems. Free, this word is tossed around all too easily. Nowhere on the box does it say free DLC, nor upgrades, only things that should be free are updates the the system for stability and keeping the game running smoothly. No PD does you one better, they give us free cars and rearrange the game to better suit our tastes because we kicked and screamed that we wanted it. Now you're finally getting charged and you want to complain. Not like someone is twisting your arm to buy anything. I have only bought the first DLC and will only get the track pack for this one as I have more than enough cars to deal with. One day I'll get to the other car packs but I have zero uses for them at the moment, I haven't even used a single one of the TC cars on either account. Standard cars reign supreme on my console, I use them to no end. Love them and wheel changes makes them look even better. Premiums look awesome but I'm a bit bored with them as they just haven't gotten my attention like the standards have.
How about we all just be thankful that we get DLC to choose from and a freebie here and there and updates that help make our game better than it started out.

Maybe so but the expectations people had based on what was being promoted was of the quality shown off, not the HD ports from last gen nor disparity in features with the ports themselves. Bullshots will always be around in any game and I usually define a true bullshot to be any image post processed outside the game. I know that photomodes always makes things look better but these are modes within the game itself and you can achieve this quality in the game without postprocessing on a PC. All you needed was 1 interior clip of a GT5 promo video/image for PD to mislead the public into thinking every car has a cockpit, as just 1 example of just a feature, not even the quality of the textures or car models.

Don't get me wrong folks, I love having 1000+ cars at my disposal as many of the cars I use to play the game with are standards, but I also like taking photos, upgrading wheels (which I can do now, albeit limited), etc. One of my favorite cars in the game is the mk1 Rabbit GTI (standard) modded slightly but it doesn't look this gen by any means. It looks LAST gen, doesn't sound right, I can't even put the most iconic wheel the VW Rabbits are known to have in the tuner world (BBS RS) even after the wheel patch, limited on mods, and has a blacked out interior (post patch) and I can't take it to phototravel. I mean I can't even take a Lambo Countach to an Italian photo travel back drop but I can take a Toyota Prius (a car I absolutely loathe)

Disregarding that handful of as i like to call "daily GTP forum" The jaguar feels if anything better to me, mabye its the smile on my face i now have at all times driving in such a nice interior, but its HP is about the same, as ive almost got it 1000+ HP just like my standard (loved it just as much)

There are plenty of welfare cases when people are reluctant to part with their money i.e. want something for free

I'm very pleased PD have started doing DLC and the latest pack is great although I'm even more excited for the Speed Test element of Route X. Want to do some 0-1000m runs.

Wonder what they'll have for us in the next DLC pack.....Should be coming sometime in March, right?

I agree. I don't think PD could give it away as part of the patch though because of the precident that would set. They would basically be saying that any upgrade will be free and stopping themselves from upgrading anything else down the road that they would charge you for. And yes I absolutely think they are testing the water by including this is an already desirable car pack to see if there was going to be any kind of fuss over it.

I like many enjoy this game and welcome the DLC to an extent. I purchased car pack 1 and 2 (only used one car so far) and the tracks, but think I will hold off on car pack 3. I am dissappointed in paying for a car I already have and about half I dont want for a dollar each. Yes I can afford it and it is less than a lunch.

But ... a big one here. If we suddenly agree 1 dollar is cheap per car and 2 dollars is a good deal for a track, then why didnt we pay about 1300 dollars for the original game? We wouldnt ... that would be ludicrous. So why would parsing out the same cost over a period of time not be just as crazy. Obviously I know we wont get 1000 DLC cars by the time GT6 comes out (or will we?).

Anyway, really like this site and most of what I read. Thanks for listening.

I didn't know, on the day that I bought a G27, a PS3, a nice 1080i TV, a HD cable and GT5, that the standard models would look like they were ripped from minecraft.

Otherwise i'd probably have just got iRacing and a big gaming rig TBH.

The premium Jaguar looks good, probably as good as any of the 800 cars in Forza 4, in fact.

Video games producers now have a way to make 200% profit on their games.

Dont get me wrong, I love GT5, and I will buy any and all DLC that is released for it. But after the $100-some-odd I spent on the collectors edition, and this $6 dollar dlc released every month, pretty soon i'm going to be closing in on $200 spent on GT5, which to me is pretty ridiculous

Like I said I support them and will pay for all dlc they release, but, its starting to get out of hand, imo..

The Jag is a special case since PD included lower quality cars in the standards so that they could ship a game with 1031 cars instead of 200 cars. I think given the choice it was the right thing to do.....but that doesn't stop it from feeling wrong if I am then asked to pay to upgrade those same standards.

If I am working and have to produce a lower standard of work because I am rushed for time it's understandable.....but I dont then go back and charge my customer to bring my work up to the standard they were expecting of me in the first place.

So this is technically the first Standard to Premium upgrade. It's a shame it had a cost. But the looks of it are worth it. I'm just curious of what made PD decide to go specifically for this car? Nevertheless, awesome job.

Could this be the prelude of more Standards going for the Premium treatment? I smell XFR, R8LM or maybe with luck, the Veyron.
