We tried with the cables, but it didn't seem to change anything.

Can you remember what you did with the cables? Because once it starts flickering it's unplayable. I'm planning on giving Xbox customer support a call. Been feeling rough this morning but feel better now, will try in a bit.

All I did was unplug the cable from both ends and plugged it in again. I presumed it may had come loose.

Hmmm, well I did that, I even took out the Scart adaptor and put it through the individual jacks on the telly and it still did the same after it had warmed up.

I've ruled out:

My telly
The other telly
The scart lead
Loose connections on the av cable

It can only be one thing, such a let down I was looking forward to sitting over a tv screen for a while this week while playing it. Maybe not it seems.

Well I gave MS Customer support a rang and tbh they were utterly hopeless and suggested nothing, they were worse than NTLs customer support. I never though I'd be able to say that after dealing with them.

I've rung Play and they've been good and are sending a parcelforce van to pick it up on Friday, I'm going to write a note and stick it to the Xbox (sellotape and not glue obviously, or I could use a laccy band) and they'll test it in their warehouse and give me a refund if they find it faulty which I'd be amazed if they didn't.

I should've gone with my instincts about so many people having problems.

My 360 was manufactured Sept. 2006, I bought it new from GameStop Dec. 2006. Everything worked great, until last night. The damn thing ate my PGR3 disc. I rang up MS and they tried to tell me that either my TV was causing interference or the system was moved while on. Ok, the system is sitting in the same spot since I opened the box as well as TV's do not cause hardware malfunctions on anything. That is rubbish. My system sits in a very well ventilated area, horizontally, and away from my subwoofer. I had to almost yell at the agent to talk to a supervisor to get my damn thing shipped to the service center to have it fixed/replaced.

He told me to remove the HDD and not put any other accessory with it when I ship it. That is, after they send me an empty box with pre-postage already on it. I'm not pleased that I've had it for 3 weeks and the damn thing decides to eat my PGR3 disc. Thankfully GameStop (unlike MS) has good customer serivce and replaced my disc no questions asked and with no reciept.

Oh and it also scratched Full Auto too, but it still plays.

Damn. :scared:

Ring of red.... great ;) second time I need my box replaced...well it worked fine for a year and we have a 2 year warrenty for all electronic products by law here in Germany, and the customer service of MS Germany is excellent aswell...so I guess it could have been worse, but still it kinda sucks...

Does anyone know why my network isn't passing the "MTU" test now?

During an online match in Gears of War half an hour ago, Xbox Live was randomly disconnected, and now I can't get it going again because it keeps failing that test. I've unplugged the router, modem and wireless adapter, restored the network settings to factory defaults, then entered the network details again. The signal isn't being blocked either, I just checked.

On MS's website, it says the network's either not compatible whatsoever (which it is), it's conflicting with another PC (which is not possible, because we've NEVER had a problem for over a year now with 3 PCs on the network), or the MTU settings aren't right. They must be, because I haven't touched the router's settings for months. And because of that, I can't remember the password to check anyway...

Is anyone else having this issue? I hope it's just Xbox Live or Virgin Media...

Edit: It comes up with these Error Status codes:

W: 0000 - 0021
X: 0000 - F001
Y: 0000 - 0000
Z: 0000 - 0000

I have the exact same problem I think there is something wrong with Xbox live . Not passing MTU is the issue . I hope the get it sorted soon

i heard that most of the time the repair center gives you a refurbished console instead of returning yours.

my 360 is spoilt and i have a question.. i downloaded some tdu dlc. is it true i wont be able to play tdu offline anymore if my console gets swapped? :ouch:

Yes, the console is replaced with another other than your own. It's probably one they fixed previously, as they don't give you the latest model.

What makes you think you won't be able to play TDU offline anymore when it's swapped? They won't want the Hard Drive or the Memory Card back (unless it's the cause of the console fault), so you won't be losing your save game if that's what you're afraid about. You will be able to download your content again without paying out any more MS points, as it has a log on their servers that you've bought them already.

They're giving me a new system I think, because I had a faulty drive....

EDIT: I've got it back, they gave it a new drive, but can anyone tell me if you can connect to XBL by putting the cable into a laptop w/ wireless internet?

I have something to ask. Has anyone else had there clock reset it's self?
It hasn't done it for a bit(but I haven't checked in about 2 weeks), but
for a long time the clock would reset it's self almost ever day.

Anyone got any cooling tips for this thing? It hasn't over heated or any thing but I'd like to get it cooler so it's life isn't cut short.

i tried with my HD on a friend's console and moved my profile there.
if i dont connect to tdu server and then try to play offline, i get this error msg:

(that means something like: "your profile refers to a dlc not available anymore. do u want to go back to Marketplace Xbox Live?")

If i connect to TDU server instead (that's always quite difficult) the game works fine.

He need to have whatever downloadable content on his console as you do, for you to use your profile.

DLC is matched to a specific console, and as I've heard, you lose whatever you've bought on YOUR 360 when it dies. I do believe that if you call MS about it they can activate them for you.

but all the stuff is on my hard disk and i dont have that problem with other games.. i mean i still can play offline even without the dlc stuff (ex: the extra cars of pgr3), while tdu dont let me play at all..
since the console can get spoilt for any reason it's been quite stupid to match the dlc to the console and not just to the gamertag.. didnt they think about it? or did they think the 360 was 'unspoilable'?

I have a problem which I hope some technical people here might know about...

It's been happening for a while, but it's now come back after a couple of months of it being perfectly fine. Lots and lots of red, or rarely blue specs appear all over the darker bits of the screen. The longer it happens, the worse it gets. Now originally, when you turned the screen on and off, the spots would disappear. But now, they won't disappear until you turn on and off the 360. We originally thought it was the screen, but now that they only disappear when you turn the 360 off, it might be related the the cables/360. Has anyone heard about an issue like this? Have any tips/suggestions on what I can do to find out more? I don't really want to complain to Microsoft and find that the problem won't happen again if they need to witness it. It only happens occasionally, but has been getting worse.

I would take some pictures, but again, it only happens when it decides it wants to...

TV is a Samsung LCD 26 incher if you need to know (I cannot remember the specific model), and I use the Joytech 360 component cables.

Do not have a clue how to fix your problem.

And my 360 went kablamo! last week. I had recently set it horizontally because of a new entertainment unit in my room. Not even half an hour of playing it in the horizontal position, it froze up, I turned it off, then back on, and it gave me the dreaded three red lights of death. A box came in today to send it to Microsoft. Hopefully I will get it back soon.

i got my send-in box today too!

 That sure is a coincidence.

Has anyone else had the person at the UPS store you drop off your box at know exactly whats in the box without having to ask? Both times I have dropped mine off, the guy knew exactly what I was sending before even looking at the label on the box.

Have you tried the 360 on a different TV? prefererably another HD TV??

Or maybe you should try different cables as i have very similar set up to yourself except 32" samsung with same resolution output but i have the microsoft component cables.

Yes, I did think of that, but I could be waiting forever (months) for it to happen again - or even if it does. I need a quicker way of confirming what the hell is happening...

If nothing else helps, then I will swap and wait...

It could be any of the 3 things - the TV the 360 or the Cables, the only way you will find out is to try diff cables or diff TV or both diff cables and TV, you might as well do it now so if it does take months you will know sooner than later - otherwise get searching the net for any answers and you might never find out this way!

Just found this on amazon in one of the reviews:

I bought this cable to replace the Joytech version, which was giving me a shadow/offset effect when using the 720p/1080i display modes.
The Microsoft cable produces a fantastic clear image, without the abovementioned problem. Unlike the Joytech version it doesn't come with an optical lead included, and is slightly more expensive, but the image quality is worth the extra money.

The official product definitely wins hands down in this case.

Sound anything like the problem you are having?

Edit: I've also just read on problems with the Joytech Component Cables on 720p - do you use 720p or 1080i?

This is VERY annoying. With Forza coming Friday, my console decides to start freezing again. 3 times in a row in Gears of War in 5 minutes, then once in Ghost Recon. Just now, an error message has appear on boot-up saying "System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support."

This is my 3rd console now. :grumpy:

So after mocking GT becasue his xbox has broken just before Forza 2 comes out over here my stupid xbox decides to show me 3 pretty red lights. Not a happy chap! :grumpy:

Spec....

EDIT - Good news, i spoke to gamestation and they have a console waiting at the store for me as a direct replacement.

Well, the DVD7 drive on my new 360 Elite decided to quit working. Looks like I'll be getting that PS3 before too much longer. Meh on Micro$oft. :grumpy:

I don't know if this has to do more with FM2 but during browsing on my car list if I scroll too fast or too slow it will freeze. I use the directional pad instead of the joy stick and sometimes that helps.
