Tech is improving fast. So newer/better formulas that can take advantage of computing power and the everlasting refinements will be in, I guess.
I think even now though, it's the HW that is the weakest link. I'll welcome every improvement tough and true to be told, SMS has been pushing the genre forward for quite some time now (before they were SMS).

In the mean time, here's another one:

The wet to dry and dry to wet is something I think a lot of people are underestimating as simulation goes. After doing a recent league race and experiencing both of those I can't wait to try the improvements in pCars 2. Currrently in pCars 1 it changes track conditions fairly quickly and there isn't really a dry line so your strategy is more or less limited. Live track 3.0 should be awesome with that aspect alone.

The level of simulation in the game is absurd...If it's all tuned true-to-life, it's mind blowing. Wonder that they've got cooking for pCARS 3...I'm not sure what else you can add as far as the simulation goes, maybe just refine it a bit.
I've wondered about this too. Obviously more content...cars, tracks, scenarios...but, after that, what? It is becoming more and more clear than Project CARS 2 is a leap forward from the original title. I'm eager to see all these great things pC2 has and to see how the series evolves as we approach the next decade.

While everyone is going mad about cars/tracks, this is the stuff that gets me much more excited about the game. I guess being an engineer and also doing system simulation as a part of my daily job has something to do with it.

Some technical videos released.

THanks for posting and sharing these. This is the kind fo stuff that makes me.... well..... let's just leave it there.... LOL

Absolutely love the water video. Great to see how the puddles will form and develop.

Can't wait to run this beast at Daytona.

For those that are more into techniques, rather than "interesting" visualization, dont hesitate to read the video descriptions. Eventually those videos make a lot more sense after reading the notes ;)

I think after that it will really be more about the next gen of VR.

Other games are toast.

Avatars have to be next. How else to personalize the game outside of livery editor?
All games are about the cars. Forza 6 & Horizon 3, have you picking an avatar, to represent you or to fantasize.

Picture this @IanBell :

-choose Le Mans circuit
-choose 1966 Ford GT40
-Multi Class(same era)
-weather slots- Simulate 1966 weather conditions
-Start(Avatar, Grid, Rolling): Choose Avatar(period Gulf racing suit)

Horn sounds, navigate sprinting or walking Avatar, across track to vehicle. Start vehicle manually and away you go.

Is it possible to do a demo similar to that for us to see?:embarrassed:

You should check out my recent post on the q&a thread and see what you would think of that type of movement towards career mode

Career mode doesn't sound any different besides a few extra Motorsport so far. Hopefully it's more to discover as we get closer to release.

This is in relation to first game but I think it underlines just how fantastic this series is - and how epic the next game will be.

I decided to play Assetto Corsa yesterday, and chose a car and track combo which is also in Project Cars. I decided to go with the Corvette C7.R on Imola for a little comparison of both games. Now when I first played Assetto Corsa, I hated it. I was hoping that the game had improved a little, but no. Let me start by saying how crappy the C7.R sounds in Assetto Corsa. It is truly awful and in all seriousness, GT Sport's C7 Gr.3 car has a better sound. No throatiness at all, an exhaust note which is basically non-existent and an intake noise which is sure to give you a headache. I cannot stress enough how bad the sound is - it's absolutely laughable for a game that calls itself a simulator. Kunos should feel very embarrassed about the sound of this vehicle. UGH! Project Cars absolutely clobbers Assetto Corsa in the sound department. The C7.R is loud, has an actual exhaust note and all the throatiness that a small block Chevrolet V8 should have. It's an absolute joy to listen to, and makes the game far more amusing than Assetto Corsa. You really should try hearing both sounds one after the other. You would be shocked.

My major gripe with Assetto Corsa is the physics. Sorry, what physics? Not only does the Corvette sound like ****, it feels like it to. The feedback through the controller is very weak indeed, and it sorely lacks connection with the road. I don't think I have control over the car's movements - it feels numb and you can hardly feel the bumps on the track's surface. It's deplorable. The steering is really weird, I can't explain it. I feel as though the car understeers quite significantly and when you make little adjustments, the car takes a second to react to the movement on my controller. The brakes are OK, but everything else just lacks connection for me. There aren't many vibrations through the controller and it all culminates into a package which fails to convey the car's movements realistically on a controller. My advice is to stay right away from Assetto Corsa if you do not have a wheel. When I play Project Cars, I feel as though the controller is part of my car. It is soo much more involving and you feel absolutely EVERYTHING through the controller. Assetto Corsa doesn't hold a candle to the physics of Project Cars. It feels realistic, especially when you dial down the steering sensitivity from 50 to 30. I feel as though I'm driving a real car; the game reacts to my movements on the controller in a predictable way. You know when the car is on the limit, and you know when you're about to lose the back end. Holy crap on a cracker, Project Cars is the best sim racer ever. There is no question about it. I have newfound respect for @IanBell and his crew at SMS.

Project Cars 2 will be an awesome experience if the first game is so fantastic to play. The feeling I get when I play Project Cars is like no other game.

How do you really feel though?

And that's all before how much better Project CARS is as a game than Assetto Corsa.

Yea stopped reading there. You're right about the audio but otherwise your opinion is moot for wheel users.

About the Road car debate. I'm using the #83 Focus in a 10 minute 30 car, Multi Class @Oschersleben GP. It's fun. the Focus handles and has some good power. I tussled with a 1M for 2 laps, while the faster cars are trying to pass and me trying to pass the slower cars. Good mix of cars from Road B-Road D and 3 Historic Mustangs.

Watching Production Car racing at the same time, I can't wait to try the new cars. The new physics are going to ramp up the full level.

This texas race is a bunch of bullsh%$ Im tired ocf hinch and the others who don't know what space is.
Seriously? Where you watching the same race I was? Hinchcliffe was the piniata in the middle the same way Rossi was. Neither one of them were at fault for those incidents. How do you leave room when you are the guy in the middle and the inside guy comes up at the same time as the outside guy comes down?

But no, that's okay. Go ahead and blame the guy in the middle fo the 3 wide........

@IanBell
I hope to see some videos about AI Work.
I suggest to see how AI cars are really take care about other human cars, instead of just follow the general line (green help line) and avoid other human cars in road.
This point is first reason why I will buy ProjectCars2 :)
I remembered me 7 AI profiles. ;)

Got to play the game in VR yesterday at my time attack event. It's also a drift event and music festival so Vaugh Gittin Jr. was there. I beat his time but he then came back and set a faster one so I'll need to change that today if I have time in between my runs...
