So will the Indy 500 be an exception to the grid limits? Surely one more opponent could be added for Indy. It's dissappointing to see such a drop in the number of opponents, especially for multi class races like Le Mans, but I guess the improvements to said AI are great.

Each of our Ai are running a full brush model a la AC. To get the numbers we have has been an insane push in optimisation for the last 6 months. We're not done yet though. We might be able to eek a little more out of the base consoles.

Good to hear! Probably has been said a lot but thank you so much for taking your time to answer our many questions here on GTP. I can't think of another developer that has spent as much time as you have on here or has been as transparent on an upcoming game as you have. 👍 PCars 2 is definitely a pre-order for me!

I think that is it. I'd much prefer fewer more realistic AI than more less realistic AI. And it's still a pretty good number this time around.

I've pre-ordered for XBONE, but if that's the case, I guess I'll buy a PS4 Pro & PC2. Both versions for both consoles. Why not?

What he means is that the old consoles are holding everyone back, since SMS wants to have the same experience on all platforms.

In my opinion ps4PRO and XBoneX are the most idiotic thing I ever encountered. Does this the fact that we now have choice over console 'power' not linda defeat the purpose of a console. You know that machine that plays all games properly in a plug and play kind of fashion?

So it's kind of the ps4PRO and XBoneX faults. Sony and microsoft should've just made a new console if their previous models are to dated.

So I think pC makes very good choice not leaving us behind playing an inferior game because we didn't upgrade our system.

Edit: I switched from pc to ps4 and am very happy for it but if developpers start to give me less value for money because not having a pro, well then I don't see a reason why to buy the future PS over a good PC and I don't see why I should help a developper that thinks it ok to let us pay the same amount of money for an inferior product. So thank you SMS for keeping us in mind!

They definitely will. With the improved hardware, I'd be amazed if it's not at least 20. But that's at least 3 years away.

When it comes to online, I don't think it's hardware related. PS3 and PS4 had the same grid limits online for most games. We should've seen at least 1 one more car online if it was completely down to hardware. I think it's the P2P connections and lack of dedicated servers on consoles that hold it at 16.

What kind of connection do PC users have?

I know PC has access to dedicated servers. I'm unsure what they would have outside of that. Whatever they have, they don't have to go through Sony or Microsoft to play online.
I think GTS may be doing 22(?) cars online. If that's the case, would it be a console performance issue over the P2P?

No doubt the car count difference is huge. Just seeking some knowledge is all.

I'm looking at the Codemasters and Forza games. On previous gen, they both had 16. Now, they both have 22-24 so it has some effect I think. But of course, it's not the whole effect.

Console is officially 16. Damn.
I'm really disappointed about this news , i think i'm not the only one, i was waiting this news for a while to decide if buying the game or not. I'll buy Forza. I only play online and I was really hoping that the number of players in online lobbies was increased at least to 20/22. F1 has 22 players i don't understand why PCARS can't have the same. We can't neither organize a multi-class event online with only 16 cars. Now we have to wait 3 years or more with PCARS 3 and hope that add more slots to multiplayer lobby, it's too far.

Sorry, but if you call PCars arcade, then IRacing, Assetto Corsa, RFactor2 and R3E are all arcade too, since PCars simulates more than each of them.
I play them all and in my opinion PCars can stand right beside them.

From feedback I've received from friends*, PCars2 betters them all.

Do your friends* who say PCars2 betters them all also think that PCars simulates more than IRacing, Assetto Corsa, RFactor2 and R3E? That would put their comment in perspective. Or are you the only one saying that PCars simulates more than IRacing, Assetto Corsa, RFactor2 and R3E? I have not heard that a lot.
I enjoy PCars for what it is, I can even understand that it could be some one preferred racing game, but it is very different to drive than driving IRacing, Assetto Corsa, RFactor2 and R3E. None of them "perfect" by the way.
The question is which direction is PCars2 going to go and who is it going to aim at pleasing?
An educated guess would be trying to please people who already enjoy PCars, which might no bode too well for people mainly attracted to IRacing, Assetto Corsa, RFactor2 and R3E.
Nothing wrong with it either, we can all enjoy different SIM or Racing Games and still be friends.

I'd like to know the offline grid size at each track because a 32 car grid is the maximum, but it won't be 32 at all tracks.
i.e. In pcars1 some tracks had a maximum of about 26 cars offline, do these same tracks in pcars2 have smaller grids than pcars? Are they perhaps down to 20 or so?
I'm talking base PS4 here.

Thank you, I'd like to know this too. But we probably won't find out until release

That grid limit is driven by number of pits. As you cannot share pits, you cannot have more cars on track.
But there are smaller grid sizes in pcars2 than pcars due to the improved physics engine, not because of the number of pits.

Looks like tomorrow we finally get confirmation on all the Ferraris we already have confirmed..... LOL
