Oh okay, good to know. I'll be rocking with the aids off.

I've been looking at comments on YouTube about controllers and wheel setups. I do believe them when they say that using a controller is alot better from the first iteration of the game. I'm not able to afford a wheel setup right now, so I had to make due with a controller, and I even won a couple of online races. Input and throttle control had a steep learning curve, (didn't think the game was supposed to be easy anyway), but that make the game fun to me. Since it's better refined for PC2, I should have a much easier time out of the box.
I use a wheel exclusively with my racing games so it's a long time since I've used a pad. However, I'm been using a pad a lot with PC2 to see if things have improved as I know a lot of people had issues with it. I found it really good at default and a small tweak of speed sensitivity and steering sensitivity has it feeling pretty much spot on. So seems to me that it's a huge improvement this time around.

Awesome! Thanks for that. I've always lowkey felt offended when wheel users brag about how fast they are compared to pad users. I've always wanted to prove them wrong. It's getting harder and harder to do now days. I've racked up enough wins against wheel users from different racing games to prove a point. Plus, I do like a challenge. MCLA, GT5, Forza 4, 5, 6, FH2, FH3, and GT6.

I've had my backside handed to me on more than one occassion by pad users. In fact, when we were still racing in GT6 a few years ago, one of our guys won 4 championships with a controller, agains a field of mostly wheel users. A wheel can make you more precise, but it will NOT make you faster.

Incorrect IMO. While anecdotally a particularly fast pad user can beat a select group of wheel users, and some pad users are very fast overall, GT5 presents us with a huge database of milions of data points that suggest that wheels utterly dominate almost all the TT's in spite of being less than a quarter of all users. The optimization in this particular game or another might favour pad users and so results may vary.

I only miss one option in this game: create a WEC offline custom championship with the possibility to select all those wonderful WEC liveries that the SMS guys have given us, with Audi and Toyota in LMP1, Ligier and Oreca in LMP2 and Ferrari, Ford, Aston Martin and Corvette in GTE (and BMW to replace Porsche). It's like a dream but I've seen that this option already exists in Assetto Corsa

Well, with me starting it with MCLA, it was them "cheating" while using the wheel, so I got better to where I could beat almost anybody using a wheel. (Top 5 on PS3 in some races.) Plus, I liked a challenge. I had to push myself and my reaction times while learning how others race in the middle of a race. Finding opportune times to make my passes without messing myself or them up.

It's extremely hard to beat decent wheel users on a pad unless you're damn good on GT5 and newer games. I'm nowhere as good as I was back then. Oh how I wish I had a time machine..

I haven't been following all the talk about pCARS 2 very closely, so apologies if this has been addressed somewhere and I can't find it. I tried looking for any "constantly updated" posts at the beginning of the thread and looked in the Q&A thread to no avail. I'm also not sure what exactly to search for to try that. I tried searching a few things that didn't help much. I did find a summary thread of "what will it have" but no mention there.

Do we know whether the AI co-driver is still in the game for long offline races? And more importantly has it been fixed so that it actually pits for fuel reliably? To that point... do the opponent bots pit for fuel properly? In my experience it was worst on the long Nordschleife tracks(still zero excuse for letting that happen, fully half the field DNF for fuel after four hours is unacceptable) but as I understood it it happened in other races as well.

Also, is it known whether you can save an offline race weekend in between sessions and resume later? Very useful if trying to set up your own long-ish races so you don't have to qualify right before the race and/or race against a completely different field than you practiced against.

When does PCars 2 go gold? I'm nervously waiting for it to go gold since
That means there won't be any delays
:)
I seriously thought the same thing today. Most of the times its around T - 1 month. so we should expect within now and two weekish. And then the SMS team deserves a well earned long holiday.

Do the AI opponents pit for fuel and tyres? Yes, absolutely :)

About the AI taking over though, I don't know - I haven't tried.

As for saving between sessions, it definitely doesn't work in the normal races (what used to be "Quick Race Weekend") but I haven't tried the career mode much myself and certainly not tried to leave part way though a race weekend, so I honestly can't answer that right now, sorry.

Thanks. I remember I didn't know the AI could drive for you in the first one until I read it online, I saw the Swap Driver button but just assumed it was for online. It's not as if the game had a manual or help files or anything. Would be a really great feature if it worked. I got away with it twice on Bathurst but the Ring not so much. At least Bob bailed on his first pitstop so I could just say "oh well" and re-run a shorter race the next day, instead of waking up ready to resume driving only to find the car parked in the pits 18 hours in.

You can stop after practice/qualifying in the career races in the first game, so hopefully that still works.

As an XBONE controller user, I still get the sensation of the tyres breaking loose, ABS. Until someone makes FFB control sticks on a controller, I see how I'm missing out on a "real" connection with car & road.

1970s Trans Am production cars. Not the 1980s silhouette cars.
Gotcha. I was thinking of modern day trans am series.

Just so you know Daffy this isn't directed at you personally. I've just seen a lot of complaints and worries based on WIP videos and photos and it's starting to get to me. And I don't even work at WMD.

To everyone making complaints like the game is broken:

IT'S STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS. If it's that obvious to you that something doesn't seem "just right", don't you think it stands to reason they're aware of it too?

No worries.

It's just a month or two away from release, so the same car sound model from CARS 1 for every car - that bothers me a bit. It wasn't the best in the original.

Just a quick question about PCars 1 Tire Wear. When set to real/normal, how long do/should tires last when treated properly? I know it depends on the class since they have different tire types, but there's gotta be an average or window they all fit in. Around 30 minutes?

You still don't get it do you? EVERYTHING is subject to change until release. The influx of videos was mainly to show off the physics engine and things like that. Stop getting so hung up on the details right now.

There's no window for all tires. Every tire is different in that aspect. GT3 softs will last 40-45 minutes.

I've got to say you are being somewhat rude and probably should relax. Perhaps you feel your opinion is more important than mine, and maybe it is. But there's absolutely no reason to come off as rude and aggressive because you don't agree with what ONE person has to say.

Cheers.

In PCars 1, you usually can get an entire fuel stint out of the softs, but maybe I'm just too slow. It appears as if GT3 in PCars 2 only has the hard Pirelli tire.
As it should be. GT3 racing in general only has 1 compound per race (possibly 2 for endurance races) as prescribed by the tire manufacturer prior to the event. The compound may vary from track to track, based on the tire manufacturer's data, but every competitor is on the same compound.

It's like this in IMSA, PWC, and Blancpain (sprint for sure).

They often allow a softer compound for night time conditions in endurance races due to.cooler temps, but even that can vary by series.

I'm trying to set up a race online with all AI opponents because apparently that's the only way to include a mandatory pit stop. Normally I would increase tire wear but I'd rather be able to have a pit stop just to shake things up and not necessarily because the tires are gone.

Was having a little look around the track list today and thought it would be fun to see how each major real World Series is represented in the games tracks. Just as a bit of fun. The results were surprising for me as I expected there to be less for almost all the series' I looked at, so heres my findings anyway.

As you can see, based on the current FIA World RallyX schedule, only the rallycross series has less than 5 "official" locations (obviously with more RX tracks in game I'm sure the calendar in game will be beefy.). It will be interesting to see the calendars for these respective series in the career mode (if some of them are even represented of course) and how realistic they will feel.

Great little bit of investigation. This game really is a racers dream. Would be interesting to do something similar with GTS...

That's pretty much an entire FIA WEC season, that's really cool. It's only missing Mexico, Shanghai, and Bahrain. You can replace those with Monza, Dubai, and Zhuhai maybe? Not sure what compares to Bahrain.

I'd probably go with Dubai for Bahrain, desert style with night capability.
