I'm trying to set up a race online with all AI opponents because apparently that's the only way to include a mandatory pit stop. Normally I would increase tire wear but I'd rather be able to have a pit stop just to shake things up and not necessarily because the tires are gone.

Can't you just accelerate fuel consumption 2x so they have to pit like in PCars1? Or maybe there is a mandatory pit option in custom race somewhere.

I'm playing PCars1. Sadly you can't increase fuel, only set to Real, Slow, or Off. Maybe in PCars2 that will change but I haven't seen every minute of every video that goes through settings.

Oh ok, maybe remembered wrong.

*edit* what about tire wear? Sorry I'm at work and can't check these myself lol

Also, any wmd members can answer yet if a.i. driver swaps still in?

Was having a little look around the track list today and thought it would be fun to see how each major real World Series is represented in the games tracks. Just as a bit of fun. The results were surprising for me as I expected there to be less for almost all the series' I looked at, so heres my findings anyway.

Indy Car - 7 Rounds
Long Beach
Texas
Indianapolis Road
Indy 500
Road America
Watkins Glenn
Sonoma

F1/FA - 9 rounds
Catalunya
Monaco
Red Bull Ring
Silverstone
Hockenheim
Spa
Monza
Circuit of the Americas
Sakkito

World RallyX - 4 rounds
Hockenheim
Lydden Hill
Hell
Loheac

WEC - 6 rounds
Silverstone
Spa
Le Mans
Nurburgring
Circuit of the Americas
Fuji Speedway

Blancpain GT - 7 rounds
Monza
Brands Hatch
Silverstone
Zolder
Spa
Nurburgring
Catalunya

BTCC/Clio Cup/Ginetta Challenge - 7 rounds
Brands Hatch
Donington
Oulton Park
Snetterton
Knockhill
Silverstone
Brands Hatch GP

Formula Renault 3.5 - 6 rounds (based on 2015 season to match car)
Monaco
Spa
Red Bull Ring
Silverstone
Nurburgring
Le Mans Bugatti Circuit

European Formula 3/FC - 6 rounds
Silverstone
Monza
Spa
Nurburgring
Red Bull Ring
Hockenheim

Pirelli World Challenge - 5 rounds
Long Beach
Road America
Circuit of the Americas
Sonoma
Laguna Seca

FIA GT/GT1 - 7 rounds (based on 1998)
Oschershleben
Silverstone
Hockenheim Classic
Sakkito
Donington
Red Bull Ring
Laguna Seca

NASCAR - 5 rounds
Daytona
Texas
Indianapolis
Watkins Glenn
Sonoma

As you can see, based on the current FIA World RallyX schedule, only the rallycross series has less than 5 "official" locations (obviously with more RX tracks in game I'm sure the calendar in game will be beefy.). It will be interesting to see the calendars for these respective series in the career mode (if some of them are even represented of course) and how realistic they will feel.

The IMSA WeatherTech series is also well represented, since it shares several tracks with IndyCar.

IMSA - 6 Rounds
Daytona
Long Beach
Laguna Seca
Road America
COTA
Watkins Glen

* We will make it 7 rounds as we will include Indy Road Course on the schedule. The former Grand Am series, which merged in 2014 with the former IMSA series raced there, so it's not a huge stretch.

I seriously thought the same thing today. Most of the times its around T - 1 month. so we should expect within now and two weekish. And then the SMS team deserves a well earned long holiday.
With all due respect to the SMS team, I hope not.
I've pushed for it a few times, and I notice others have too, but it's always met with tumbleweeds.

I understand they will take every last opportunity to iron out any kinks and optimise the game the best they can.
But once the game goes gold, surely then it is time to hear some console details and see some videos.
I'm happy to sit and wait, but considering the price of the game is the same on console or PC, there comes a time sooner or later.

I love the realism but if one was to create an online championship you might as well use all the American tracks and include Sonoma.

Different topic so double post sorry...

Just now realizing that you can only force mandatory pit stops on lap races and not timed races. That makes no sense (or does it and I don't know why?) and I hope is not the case in PCars2. It's just an annoying extra step to do the math and figure out how many laps will equal roughly the desired amount of time.

Excuse my ignorance coz I might be wrong, but why would someone race a timed race?!
I don't know any race/championship that has a timed race! It's always number of laps! Imagine a race ending in the middle of the lap coz time ended!
Again I can be wrong, but I honestly can't see the purpose of timed races!

Does the name of a little French town called "Le Mans" ring a bell to you...?

A "24 Hour", " 12 Hour, "8 Hour, " 6 Hour", Heck even a 25 Hour... Surely you've heard or seen those real world races.

Some real world GT/GT3 races are timed at 3H, 2H 45min, 2H, 1H. Some real world Historic races are timed at 30minutes.

In special cases, races are time certain. Meaning, it will end regardless of laps completed. There may be 70lap race, but due to weather, safety cars, race stoppage, the race ends at a certain time.

The vast majority of endurance races are timed. The race doesn't end when the time runs out but the next time the leader crosses the start finish line after the time has run out.

Not just endurance either - I was at the British GT meeting at Brands Hatch at the weekend, every single race was timed - either 15 or 20 minutes for the supports, as well as the 2 hours for the main event.

The French agree with you. Next year it's the 397 laps of LeMans:sly:

Disregarding what the others said, timed races make perfect sense even without knowing about the real ones. Imagine you having x amount of free time for a quick race before work and not having to figure out how many laps that would be around Spa for example. I don't know about you, but thinking about it that way suddenly timed races sound quite appealing to me.

honestly, I don't know many racing series that do races by number of laps besides formula one. Every racing series I watch on TV or attend live have a timed race. And of course it doesn't stop in the middle of a lap .. smh... there are two options in real life... either you just end the lap when times is up (final lap then) or you end the current lap and THEN the final lap begins. That's usually then noted as "60mins +1lap"

It's also better for figuring out how much tire wear to use if you want to make them wear enough for multiple pit stops. Weather too since when set to Real Time each slot lasts 60 minutes. It's just easier to work with.

NASCAR/Indy Car go by # of laps too, just to name a few other popular motorsports that run by laps instead of time.

One reason I like doing timed races in pCARS1 is because at the end of the race you get your best lap time displayed, whereas if you do lap races it only gives you your total race time. Which makes no sense in itself!

Hoping whichever we choose for the sequel we'll get at least our best race lap time displayed after the race.

cool. but as I said "I" don't know other series that do it ^^ I never watched a Nascar or Indycar in my entire life. I'm european.. that might be the reason. It never caught my interest. There may be some more, but the ones I know do timed races.

Now I know two more :)

At least in race cars with displays you can keep an eye on your best lap the whole race.

If you use apps like Dashmeter Pro with your tablet/phone you have it even in cars without this option. :)

All endurance racing is timed races..... 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours. None of them are lap count based.
