No offense but how are you this deep into sim racing and don't know about times races?

I think this was really directed at me. I only answered it the simplest way I knew how; just trying to be helpful. I've not very deep into sim racing at all really. I've never been to a race track, watch it, or anything for that matter. I think the IMSA has a track in Texas, CotA, but that's about 7 hours from me. I actually know very little about sim racing. I can't help that I enjoy cars and racing them on a video game.

I assume you're in Texas so you have Texas Motor Speedway which has IndyCar and NASCAR.

I'm just into simracing in cars because no motorcycle hw with ffb :P :D

Yes, I'm a motorcycle guy but I do love racing so... I like to drive cars in a similar more than I do irl. Cars are to slow... Too many traffic jams lol

If he's 7 hours away from COTA, he's nowhere near TMS either. Chances are he's not in Texas at all; 7 hours from Austin puts you up around Amarillo or towards El Paso as far Texas goes.

7 hours from COTA wouldn't be too different to TMS so I'm just saying the option.

I'm not in Texas at all, I'm in Arkansas. I just mapped it, it's anywhere from 8 to 8.5 hours to get to CotA from where I'm at. Honestly, I've seen a little bit of NASCAR, usually that happened after college football or the NFL went off for the day. I've actually driven past Talladega, and they had some type of race day going on, which was cool.

I thought this video was interesting, not so much the slightly petulant kid who posted it (example: early on where he claims "blocking tactics" when he came from way WAY back and almost shunted the car coming out of the corner) but the old chestnut of the rest of the field suddenly driving out of their skins and pushing you way down in qualifying, if you quit quali a little early. The improvement they make in what must only be one or two extra laps is a little nuts, regardless of track evolution and rubbering in.

Happens in real world racing. I've seen plenty drivers lose out because the team had them park up one or two laps early.

Hmm not usually by such a margin, in the video the leaders make up about 5 seconds over 1 or 2 laps on their previous times. I'm trying to remember if it was pCars 1 (which I admittedly haven't played in years) or another game where this happened a lot.

ToCA games used to do that.

It happened in pCARS1 when I skipped to end of qualifying session. It's a bug of some sort. Why? When I fast forward the time, AI's lap times do not improve by the same margin.

I seem to recall this kind of thing going on all the way back to Micropose Grand Prix, and maybe even earlier. Definitely a recurring issue in racing games.over the past 20 - 30 years.

So that was a bug? I remember sometimes skipping to the end thinking I put in a good enough time and then at the end I'd be down thinking they found more time that I couldn't. I thought skipping ahead was a sort of potential punishment for being too cocky or something.

AI did not find that extra second. You were the fastest. Next time just accelerate the session time to 60x instead of skipping to end of session. For PC1. Hopefully this is resolved for PC2.

Thing is, when you do finally do go to a NASCAR, F1, Touring car, Drag Race, Moto GP, Time Attack event, you won't believe your ears. Television doesn't do the sounds justice.
I for one welcome the smell of race fuel & burnt rubber in the evening. :P

I doubt any game has ever simulated the remainder of the session, it naturally must involve a lookup table or some other kind of guesswork. Fairly understandable, and only noticeable when it doesn't seem to come out right.

Watching the Project CARS 2 Developer Stream and i yet to see any of the hypercars back flame? Why does SMS continues to refuse to add back flames to the hypercars? I know its a WIP but we're getting close to the game going gold and i yet to see this feature get added. We're talking about cars that go over 200 mph and back fire flames like crazy. I mean where the hell is the back flames on the 918, 720s, Lafearrari, P1 and so on? its just weird and unrealistic :indiff:

Well well well. How?
apols for the necro-reply but it's had a few tweaks including the addition of something to give it more of a "taking a photo" feel. The basic style of it, the type of filters etc are as they are in that video :).

re. the question about the shutter speed, it moves in 0.005 increments but it doesn't take long to go from the slowest to fastest shutter speed. It might operate differently on the console versions of course but, on PC at least, you can simply drag the slider-bar to exactly where you want.

Hello,

I cannot wait for the release of the game I love driving gt3, gt4 lmp3, gt5 and formula renault 3.5.

I was wondering if the damage model has changed.

Because in pc1 if you drove a formule renault 3.5 into the back of the car in front the front wing won't come off, but in reality it does.

I'm almost certain I've seen a gameplay video of the LaFerrari backfiring. It doesn't happen as often as one thinks though.
