Not 1 month ago, people were complaining that SMS was giving out too much information and there wouldn't be any "surprises" left come release date.

And yet, people then launch conspiracy theories when their individual priority features aren't confirmed months in advance of the launch.

It seems that we only want "surprises" so long as they aren't something we find personally "important"......

And yet we continue to not have it confirmed so. :nervous:

AI driver swaps should be in AFAIK.

In today's gaming world nobody wants surprises anymore.
Everybody wants to know the full car and track list, all the player ratings in the latest FIFA/NBA game and all available skills in their upcoming RPG before release.
Sad but true...

Thanks @F1Racer68 for saving me from double post place.

Is this a new article? This part caught my eye "If a multiplayer race is already in progress, meanwhile, you can join at any time to watch the action." It's listed under Spectating. Does this mean you can join in progress races as a lobby spectator only or spectate the current race and join in for the next one? I ask because I thought it was said you can't join in progress lobbies, like it was in pCars 1.

Yes, went live today

Correct, AFAIK you can join an already in progress. each lobby also shows how much time left in the current race before you join it so you waste less time.

I have the 22nd off as well - though my wife just informed me that I get to take our son to the dentist that morning.

Knowing what he'll be experiencing at the dentist, I'm fine with waiting another couple hours to play.

We haven't finished online championships yet... That's a bit of an assumption. When we do, I fully expect you to be able to populate the grid with AI, as we already allow.
That is good news. To be honest I'd rather wait for an online championship that can be populated with ai to have a full grid. Having the AI included in an online race was one of the best parts of pcars 1, especially when you don't or can't get a whole lot of friends to make a decent grid size.

you could, i dont know, maybe just possibly leave him there...

edit: joke. dont do that

On the former, apologies, it's changed so much day to day I'm unsure of the current position. I've pushed it like hell though.

On the latter, Crapping myself as always. I've/we've put everything we have into this one, I think it's fair to say more so than ever before. We think we've just created the best racing game ever made, but we'll see... I can say that I felt the same sort of passion from the team this time around that I felt when we created GTR2 (and 85% of those guys/girls are still with us). It's that passion which makes all the difference and I hope it's evident for all.

Things are much more complex now. We set the bar really stupidly high in terms of improvements from pCARS1 to 2 and I think we hit about 95% of that bar. It won't be absolutely perfect in every area, nothing is, but I do in all humility feel it's the best racer ever shipped. We'll continue to patch and improve as our fans deserve of course. There are a few areas that I think are slightly less than as perfect as they could be. So yes, we'll keep hitting those for at least a year. Then we'll raise the bar again for the next one :)
Of course you'll say that, you're the head developer. In the process, you have put the bar SO HIGH that if it isn't the best game ever people will riot in the streets. Cool it mate, you'll make more enemies than friends if what you say is not the reality. Sorry but I wouldn't go out and announce that my product is the "greatest thing ever". Great for marketing purposes though, yet I didn't think you were the head marketing director at SMS... Maybe leave that area to someone else.

I can just tell that a ban is coming my way.

Sorry but I don't understand what you are looking for to keep such proposals. I mean, what's your message? it seems to me a free attack but I can be wrong. No offense guy but I don't understand what you mean.

Well, if anyone really buys this game thinking "this is the best game ever made" after reading obviously biased posts from the creator of said game and then seriously feels cheated when it isn't, that person is just stupid.

@Seb02 That's just how it is with some people. There's no message. As release date nears they can't handle their excitement/impatience and start obsessing over every small detail just to keep busy. Either ending up endlessly discussing the same thing over and over, or lashing out to the messengers. The thing that annoys me is these people clutter topics without adding anything meaningful.

I'd say that's unfair. I've made many posts here outlining our shortcomings and mitigating expectation. I do fully believe what I've written though but 'caveat', I'm biased :)

Arse, I quoted the wrong quote. Apologies Dicra, it was the one above you...

This was the post I wanted to quote. :)

Yes, I'm biased. But I can't take the accolade of Head Developer. Many of the key guys have worked much harder than me on this.

It is the best racing game ever developed though :)

Anyone who has read these pages will see what Ian thinks about his game and the passion he and his team bring to it. However, they will also see that he has freely admitted problems with the first game and the level to which they have improved things in the second game. He's admitted that they have been able to improve some things more than others and that some things have not been improved as much as they would have liked. However, if all that still adds up to what he thinks is the best racing game out there why shouldn't he say it?

I can't see any problem with saying you think your game is fantastic whilst acknowledging the areas that aren't what you wanted them to be.

don't take it too serious.
