Hello friends

Project Cars 2 is down to £25 on the Playstation Store sale. Is it worth buying, as I already have Gran Turismo Sport? Please advise me!

Thank you everyone :)

Only if you're desperate for a new driving game.

I would wait a bit more. The price is going down fast, so it won't be long till you get the game + season pass for cheaper then that, and with luck, by then the game gets a little bit more fixed and you don't get fed up off the game before that.

Quick question to anyone in the know.

How effective is the slipstream model in pc2? The reason I ask is because it feels like I'm getting hardly any extra speed when chasing a single car in front of me.

Another question is, is turbulent air modeled, ie: losing front end grip from following cars to closely?

To answer the 1st question, it depends on the car and track. Try the Renault 3.5 single-seater, for example, and you'll get a really good draft off the car in front. As for turbulent / dirty air, that is also modelled. Side-drafting is also modelled as is the multiplied effect of cars tightly packed in a line ahead of you (so the car at the back gets an even bigger draft or dirty air effect than if there was just 1 car ahead).

Thanks for getting back to me regarding this @Cluck & @The_American.

I just wasn't to sure about the slipstream as I haven't tried the fast open wheels or lmp type cars yet (still learning on slow/mid speed cars atm).

As for turbulent air, I wasn't sure if it was just me feeling the pressure/pushing to hard trying to overtake that was causing grip loss.

Probably a combination of the 2 :)

Anyways it's good to know it's there.

You should try the Mustang Boss 302R GT4 car at Daytona. Very good at drafting and able to change your line and very stable. A bunch of us race them regularly and there is some intense racing.

I took the Aston Martin GT12 for a srive on historic spa and my steering wheel was rattling a lot. What is the problem???

I played with the Porsche 911 GT1 98 before and there was no rattling?

Edit: Its all good the rattling is just vibration of the car

Seems the other fast drivers have come out in the last couple of days, came back on and my 35.362 which was fastest was now 10th and I was 6th in the UK. I've managed to improve my time today though and am on a 35.086 putting my back to first by 0.08s seconds. :D And I'm using roof cam for this, I find I only really like chase cam on GT.

Thanks, definitely a lot more difficult on PC, even with my new time I'd be 6th on their leaderboards nearly 0.4 off the fastest.

I have no idea how well I'm going to be able to do in the other events so will just have to see how it goes. Luckily I've got a lot of spare time as I only have 1 exam left at uni before I'm off for the summer, good luck with that other event!

Just had a look at Renault Web site, they have the results up from the rx event, seems I've qualified lol.

Going to have to try and find some time to practice for the next ones.

Still think though there are a lot of fast UK drivers yet to give it a go, maybe they won't bother. Well done on topping round.

I used cockpit view and it helps especially with pad as it is possible to see steering input so can then react to making that as similar to how I drive with wheel. Can't believe I made it with DS4 controller, thought I had no chance until I decided to tinker with the settings for the first time. I may look like a drunk driver in the replays lol, however it is good enough to make it to the next round which is the main thing. Credit to SMS on offering so many settings options. Sony done a great job with the controller too, by far the best standard controller I've used for racing games.

I noticed on the website, they also had an event at Silverstone over the weekend to go straight into the finals so that probably would have been easier way to get through. More disappointed though to miss out chance of driving the new Megane RS on Silverstone track and drifting a F-type. If only I read that part earlier, never mind.

Probably a bit more competitive at the top but I don't think the times were earth shattering so that's good news so far. My best first sector is nearly 4 tenths faster than the one on your fastest lap as an example so shows car has a lot of potential. Them mushroom coloured kerbs give a ying effect :D so found it hard consistently to nail them. I would have managed low 34's if I could get together my best sectors. I binned a few decent attempts on the main straight as steering got really twitchy :banghead: but was good to know I still have good pace without having played in a long time even with a controller.

Going by your sig, at least you have a lot of online racing experience so that should help. I may leave it last minute for the semi final to get a wheel and give it a quick attempt if no alien times are done. Shouldn't be too difficult to get up to speed as both tracks although not yet driven on pCARS2, I know them from before and hopefully the splits are favourable. Good luck with your exam / hope it went well for you. Thanks, I need it. :dopey:

Is there a way to tune the GT1 cars from the late 1990s so they reach the speeds they did at Le Mans during those years (315-325 km/h)? For example, by default I cannot seem to make the McLaren F1 GTR go faster than 300 km/h at Le Mans.

Also, the performance specifications on the car selection screen says the F1 GTR can reach speeds around 390 km/h. What and how?

Run minimum front and rear downforce. Raise the starting tire pressure to around 21 psi at the front and 20 at the rear. Front brake cooling at 50% and rear at 40%. This should help.

How much should it help? Following this advice I've now managed 304 km/h. I even tried fiddling with the gear ratios, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right.

Are you sure you're running 0/0 downforce? Try running 60% radiator opening. Also try -.01 front toe and .02 rear toe. Run the second to lowest final drive ratio. If that doesn't work try the lowest. I know with GT1 cars at LeMans drafting helps a lot.

I tried that but in terms of top speed I couldn't tell a real difference between 0/0 and and 0/2. So I opted for 0/2 because I found it hard to navigate the high speed Porsche Curves and Maison Blanche turns without some downforce at the rear.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Already tried both and it does seem to help slightly. However, I'm not sure whether I should adjust individual gears.

Ok, I was thinking about this possibility. So far my tests have been solo runs, which could explain part of the "problem".

For Porsche Curves instability reduce the rear slow bump and slow rebound and increase the front. I don't know how far these settings go on the McLaren, but doing this has helped me with rear end instability in the past.

6.0 out on PS4 too, straight 3GB!

Release notes are still not listed on official forum.

Update:

Various improvements, fixes and optimisations.

Fixed occasional stability issues.
Improved usability of in-game tools.
Improved AI ability at various tracks.
Improved the penalty system.
Optimised tyre wear in wet conditions.
Optimisations to LiveTrack at various tracks.
Improved track-limit zones.
Other miscellaneous fixes.

haha great. I never want to hear us console players complaining anymore that PC gets all the fancy new stuff first ;)
I do have a PS4 and PC but PCars2 only on PC...so have to wait a couple of hours/days and want to read from the XBO/PS community if they like the update and what it brings.
