Depends on the track. Some tracks are better in PC2 and some better in AC. Same goes for the cars. Perhaps 'better' is the wrong word here. 'Different' is more appropriate in most cases I think.

I seem to recall the track in PC2 demo is the Red Bull Ring. That is a very smooth track in real life also. It's been a while since I drove round there on AC - perhaps I'll give it a go.
Reasonable view on it yeah hehe thanks. I just tried red bull in AC and it is smooth pretty much as you said, maybe a few small bumps more in ac. But it's also missing some 3d detail like on the curbs compared to pcars2 though. Depends on the car of course too on how much you will feel it.
Edit: well i compared the same cars and track to the demo and i have to say pcars2 ffb feels more detailed, nuanced, especially the tire and its pull push effect on the steering from the road. Plus you can adjust it more, compared to Ac on ps4 at least.

Are you on PS4? If so I've found that by pausing then resuming any download makes it go much faster. The initial quoted time is always ridiculous, but tends to go down dramatically after pausing. In my experience.
Yes this is PS4 but not the download from the PS Store. That only took about 35 minutes. This is once the game is initially started, you are locked into the McLaren 720S and Long Beach track until the game does an installation from the main menu. And from what I can tell, leaving the game will make this installation start over.

I only had a few hours this morning to play anything so I regrettably closed the game after almost 4 hours and nearly 80% complete to play Fallout 4 for an hour. I'll let it install tonight while I'm asleep.

Can the game be tried after just a partial download or you need wait for a complete download and install? On ps4 i mean.
See above. After downloading the game, you can drive the 720S at Long Beach against AI or practice by yourself until the install is complete on the main menu.

Guy's faster in the what you call it, the main curve long chicane upwards just after the start, than the faster car in front. Sounds good, does the car in game sound as good?
Thanks @88GTA , anyone know when you download install the full game can i delete the demo before to make space and still keep my settings?

Got the complete game, just noticed doesnt include the japanese pack. Oh well, it's the least of interest to me, not so bad. Aww double post, really sorry. I uploaded my settings and setups from the demo but seems its a separate game from the main game and cant download them to it.

Fire up that 512 or 917 and your ears will explode with joy :D
Haha yeah well i wish but not quite yet, i only downloaded the 1st playable part hehe. I just tried it now, the 720 on long beach. Well 1st it sounds pretty good in all views, all looks nice except bit dissapointed for screen tearing when im even just by myself on track trying the test mode. Scared to try with a.i. lol in a race. The ffb feels heavy compared to the demo cars. I set all settings from the demo same. But didn't tinker with the setup yet. Its just the loose default one. Car feels less lively or dynamic for now but i just barely drive slowly. Not much space on that track for speed, is that a short variation, is there other quicker ones on long beach? Im anxious like a kid at xmas a little haha, but also weary for disappointment hehehe. Well need try lil more.

This is main Long Beach track, lots to enjoy, this just the start. For screen tearing have look at picture settings see what works best.👍

Which picture settings you think can help? Maybe on different time of day and weather will be better. Im on sunny day, all views i noticed tearing except in that middle rear cockpit view, maybe cause you see less of the outside or its less noticeable. Well you get used to it i guess too. I lowered a few ffb settings from the demo for lower strength and set the traction control to minimum 1 and lowered the abs in setups, much better and exciting. All game aids are off. Im having fun haha. Just worry the performance when in a race ouch. The cockpit does look nice and the sound is better than i expected too. I can feel the road and tire forces now pretty well. And the car more lively.
Trying a race, with qualification, starting well, i got disqualified just accelerating from a stop in pits, forgot the speed limit haha, was enjoying the thrill of the sound and feel off the start. I can see this game will grip me lol and take my time haha. I like it really. Just too bad for the tearing for now in the 1st track. I don't feel to upgrade to ps4 pro with ps5 not too far off. At least it wil be backwards compatible. I have to say im pleasantly surprised, the track is detailed and bumpy, the car lively and dynamic, i can feel all really well, was simple fast adjustment of the ffb from the demo, and the controls are great. The sound better than i expected.the a.i. is great up to now.
Much more fun than the demo already. Except the optimization on that track on my std ps4 compared to the demo which ran pretty smoothly, the image is less clear and there is screen tearing sadly, even alone in the track. I tried off even the car mirrors, off the post processing, no change. Maybe if off bloom or different weather time of day.

@Jtheripper -- FYI, I'm pretty sure what you get when you play with the McLaren at Long Beach is version 1.0 of the game, as it has not yet finished installing to be able to download/apply the latest update.

So maybe don't carve those FFB settings and such into stone just yet. :) And if I'm right, the game will only get better once it's all done. 👍

Ouch i see.thanks alot. Maybe the optimization too be better when its finished?
Well glad for that if so. Already love it.

Yes what Wolfe said is most likely correct. Let it finish its install before setting out to fine tune everything. Although it may be finished by now?

Long Beach is quite a graphic intensive track anyway, what with all the buildings etc so maybe not the best to judge it on. Looks great at night though, lovely lighting.

Enhanced resolution mode might be the best to use. Turning off the cockpit mirrors and driver/wheel animations can save a few FPS and don't always use all the available AI cars.

If you need it here's the manual for the game. It'll explain the various options and menus.

Enjoy. Hopefully!

It doesn't look good at night on regular PS4, quite the opposite in fact as the lighting really accentuates all those horrible jaggies. Daytime is bad enough.

Does someone have good settings for xbox one gamepad? I don't really like the standard settings in the demo.
There's some useful settings and information over in this thread. Hope they help.

It doesn't look good at night on regular PS4,
Ah maybe, I use a Pro and a HD monitor. Never really noticed any jaggles. The occasional stutter or screen tear but nothing drastic.

Thanks IfAndOr that's what I was meaning about resolution.👍

Hmm, not ever seeing it on a standard PS4 or anything other than a HD monitor I'm never sure what others are seeing. I've always been more than happy with the visuals. I know the Pro is a little more powerful but it's not like Sony ripped out a 4 cylinder and fitted a twin turbo V8. :)

From what others have mentioned there does seem to be a problem with the scaling on 4k TVs but again I don't see this.

@rj5992 as someone who as very recently swapped onto a Pro, are you seeing any huge graphical and speed improvement or is it just a slight overall enhancement? You have a HD TV I believe so you also wouldn't get any 4k problems.

I would say there is a pretty sizeable improvement in graphics. I'm running with it in Enhanced Visuals mode and it looks really nice in comparison with the standard PS4. One of the biggest improvements is actually in the rear view mirror. Before there was a pretty short draw distance and trees and buildings would just pop and disappear. Now everything is clearer and simply fades away out of sight.

Japanese pack is also on offer (well in the UK at least). I bought it for the FK2 Type R although I still need to drive it...

As someone who has PC2 installed on both my standard PS4 and my PS4pro I don't bother these days to move my pro from the living room to hook up to my driving rig as I used to, I just use my standard with it. While there is a bit of a drop in the graphics and you can have less AI opponents the difference doesn't bother me at all, I'm more into the 'race experience' than the scenery and the difference, to me, seems fairly negligible. I also have a 4K HDR tv hooked up to my rig and haven't noticed any scaling issues.

Yeah, the game looks great on my PS4 Slim and 1080p monitor, jaggies and all. Oh dear, videogame imagery made up of little squares...never seen that before!

What I would do with a PS4 Pro (or a PS5 :) ) is set it to maximize the framerate and performance of the game, to alleviate the occasional noticeable framerate drops and physics hiccups. That's far more important to me than image quality.

Thanks ifandor no i didn't try it since its now fully installed,il try it in a lil bit. Hope be even more ok, maybe for that track il try set cloudy so no shadows to process will make it run smoother.
Unfortunately, for those who have std ps4 (as me), we do not have those options :(
So we have to keep dealing with poor graphics.
Yeah that's why I'm not so keen on separate console versions in a same gen.

I see, here its regular price 6.99cad i thnk. Im not much bothered, i have alot on my plate already hehe.

Well i dont mind if not the greatest ever graphics but it be nice to have no tearing and bit cleaner image. Like the demo, except the replay needed a little nicer optimization too.

Ingame I have no issues but replays are a real eyesore. It looks terrible while the angels are great. Photomode is also useless since focus doesn't work correctly and shutterspeed blurs the whole car. A real mess. Base PS4 here.

For the AI , I stick around 11 to 15 AI cars and I encounter no real issues during the races besides quirky behaviour sometimes.

Well i just tried it again now after a complete install, the same track in the same conditions with the same car and same a.i. its much better, not comparable, in the sunny day with shadows everywhere and no off graphics, full mirrors in cockpit plus hud mirror even and it's much much cleaner and barely any tearing noticeable. I'm a happy camper, all i wished for now. Juts few a.i. but we'll see. Cockpit looks really nice too. Even replay is nicer, sounds maybe a lil better, that's one thing i wish was greater, cool hot sounds from the cars in replays, oh well, still so glad. As you guys said it was a basic non updated preview the 1st track and car on partial install. I noticed the ffb too was different too heavy again, just had to adjust it. Im still just on that 1st track and car with few a.i. and short race, don't want spoil myself too fast hehe.
Edit: well still had to change some ffb settings around, seems the updates from the demo not just changed the heavyness of the wheel but its almost same now, not quite as good still as i liked it but still can fiddle with it. It be nice if you could select which opponent a.i. cars you want to race against in quick race, like in assetto custom championships. I like the music in the menu, also the trailer at the start, they sure know how to make you feel inspired.

The sound is more muffled if you use the show helmet option, this doesn't affect the helmet cam movement, ie: look to apex if you turn show helmet off.

Even in just cockpit view? I did notice the muffled sound yh in the helmet view. In cockpit it sounds great the 720, really surprised. I tried the qualif at 5am in clear weather at long beach. Wow for me can't be happier, its nice smooth clean even with the headlights. And the headlights really brighten well, not like most older games. Also nice the colored lighting in the cockpit. Was worried at 1st but now it seems great. To think i almost passed this by. If the other cars feel and sound as good, and tracks feel as good, I'll be happy. Well the only thing in the handling for me that i find doubtfull is when the car goes into a slide, it feels artificial, simple like arcade almost, i dont know, like no momentum and shift of weight destabilizing the car especially at higher speeds. And i run with no aids except i can't lower the tcs lower than at 1. I remember on pc long before i felt that more in liveforspeed LFS and RFACTOR i think.
The damage is fun too. Im ok for a good while with this lol, just long beach and the 720 im having a ball. Really surprised by the sound, not artificial, clean, cool.
I'm wondering if you can interrupt a pitstop, let's say its too long to fix somethng or you want less fuel. Doesnt look like you can on the fly modify the pit stop or just before decide what you want, which tires, how much fuel, repairs or any adjustments. Only in pre-scheduled planned pitstops?
When you do a quick race, it only shows a little drawing of each car lol, they could say what's the car model etc. The a.i. cars that race near around you look pretty nice.

Regarding the FFB, the tone slider changes how much feeling you get and from where on the car. 50 is balanced, less than that gives you more front end feeling, greater gives you more rear end feeling. In practise, more rear end feeling makes the wheel go lighter when you start to oversteer, but you'll lose the feeling of understeer. Personally, I have it set to about 23/25 with a Raw flavour. For me that gives a good Seat of the Pants feel for the rear whilst still retaining the weight of the car in the steering. I also feel the wheel go lighter when I understeer and can push the front tyres to the edge of adhesion.

You can also adjust pit stops on the fly, it's in the MFD menu that pops up. Pit stops can be found under adjust strategy.

Regarding ffb tone being a balance setting, have people tried setting the tone values to match the car's weight distribution?

I might give it a test, the wife & kids go away this week so my black & decker rig is staying set up all week :)
