Because my comment has been deleted in the Q&A thread I want to answer this here:
^this. Most other driving games (GT5) do 30fps replays to inject extra quality and effects (motion blur etc.) to make them look really nice. We're going the same route this time on consoles (will be unlocked for PC, again a tech difference....not a different game feature). GT5 has very nice smooth realistic replays (we think).

making FPS (and few other graphics things) player-selectible is a big SONY/MSFT no-no
Sony allows this even in their own games (e.g. Killzone Shadow Fall, Infamous Second Son, TLOU).

GT5/6 has a nice feature: If you watch a replay and switch to a "gameplay" camera (cockpit, bumper, ...) you get 60fps :)

First party title always had some leeway that third party titles didn't. And GT is a good example of that .
For example, even the 1st Gran Turismo had a special mode at 60fps (one track though).
Even in GT5, you could select the resolution (or 3D) and that would change the framerate.

But those restrictions are now more lenient on the current generation of console, with some third party title letting you choose between fancier visuals or better framerate, even on standard PS4 (Nioh).

But that also mean, more work, more budget (or smaller scope) and more debugging. It's always nice to have a choice, but as always it would have to be traded against something else.

Car looks better in the game than it does in McLaren's press shots.
Watch the Drivetribe YouTube video on the car. I found it a bit oddly shaped from many of the photos, but watching it in motion from many angles it was quickly growing on me. Drivetribe has beautiful footage.

Yeah, McLaren and Ferrari are the strictest generally.
Is that why some of the McLaren liveries disappeared before launch (incidentally every one which had a fuel/oil supplier different to what their works teams were using)?

E - I read up a couple of posts and they all kind of make this one redundant.

Jesus, SMS got onto this car VERY early. Brilliant!

I hope SMS did not axe RUF because Porsche is back in town (I have faith!). Imagine a 2017 CTR Yellowbird reveal?!
I heard before that a stipulation of having Porsche from here on is that you do not feature RUF as they don't want to be seen as having the slower version of one of their own cars.

If PCars2 doesn't have RUF it is presumably true. Certain games, such as Assetto Corsa, had RUF before Porsche arrived so it won't apply to them.

I hope it is not true but I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Since that Gran Turismo has TAG Heuer as it's timing for live streaming I wonder if Project CARS 2 will have a similar thing in their game? Like mabye Rolex or something?

What is this Mario Kart? Throw out a banana too? God, this is getting dumber by the day, yeah those cars are designed for dirt.
Ah, as if you didn't want to go on the ice track, put the Formula A car on it and see what happens :D I bet this'll be my very first race when I get pCARS 2. The second one will be a very old Lotus in the mud, haven't decided which one yet. :D
And then I'm off and testing the Live Track 3.0 system.

I live in Canada, I know what an ice track is, I can drive down the street 4 months of the year and experience the "thrill" and reality of driving a car in the snow and ice.Perhaps including proper vehicle's that actually race on these surfaces would be better time spent other than 1 pickup. Oh,perhaps, they have "DLC" for us all to buy.

THe one ice track that we know about is a real track used to teach advanced winter driving skills. It's intended for road cars.

As for the rest, I expect to see some ice and snow on the rallyX tracks, as those cars are also suited for that type of racing.

Everything else on the ice/snow tracks would just be a case of "What the hell, why not?" when you are just trying to have a good laugh/ridiculous fun.

It will however be interesting to run Silverstone in April with a freak snow fall much like what happened there last year for the WEC race. Or a snowy patch during a 24 hour even on the Nurburgring. Much like what happened there last year. I think by now Soyuz see where I am going with this.......

Yeah go figure, they are not stupid enough to even attempt driving those cars on an ice track. Thats why they teach it on road cars.
Your know as well as I, having driven in snow and ice for over 40 year's, a made for TV video is exactly that. F1 cars Gt3 cars would be destroyed from mud and ice hitting the car and aero parts. That why the American said turn off damage. It's a gimmick, I get it. Better time could have been spent on actual cars that race on those surfaces.
Freak weather happens,we get 3 seasons in a week,I get that. If a full blown storm blew in on any race track, they would stop a race. It's to dangerous.

Why are you assuming they haven't done so for cars that suit mud/gravel? Plus, it's a game. You don't have Health and Safety to worry about so there's a reason to do it because you can do it in a game. It's fun to drive a car around circuits that don't suit it. I remember driving the OWC car at the Lienz Rally Circuit and it was crazy but fun. That's the point of a commercial game. To be fun.

Really? The point was F1 GT3 and Indy cars. They do not race on mud ice correct. So is this a Sim,or a Pizza and beer game with no damage, driving cars that don't actually race in a discipline? If it is a Simulation,F1 cars don't race on ice,mud correct. Is it fun, probably once, that's why he said pizza and beer. Looking at your age, enjoy the pizza. Just a joke.

The thing is, there wasn't any time wasted in "allowing" this to happen. It's actually just more of a case of not spending any time in preventing it from happening. In other words, no time was spent on either side of it. Where they would have had to spend extra time is in what you are suggesting by somehow creating a rule set in the game to prevent it from happening.

As it stands now, it's just a simple case of "If you don't like it, then don't do it." rather than a case of "We are preventing you from doing it because it's not realistic in our opinion.".

It's not so much a gimmick as it is a case of "we didn't bother putting any effort into stopping it from happening because it's not really a game breaker if it happens.".

It's a game. It is what you use it as. You can use it as a sim or you use it as a fun game you play with friends. Games are about options that you can't do in real life. That's why we play racing games and not race cars in real life. You can't just take a Bentley GT3 to Hell in Norway. There are costs involved and other blockades. You can't do it in real life but you have the technology to be able to put these cars on a circuit like Hell. In game, you can do it with a few clicks of a button.
Surely, a simulation is meant to replicate what would happen in real life? These cars are heavy with a lot of downforce. That would surely damage it if you put it on a RX circuit as it's not designed for it. It's like driving a car on slick tyres in the rain. You can do it but it's not recommended.

Why should one limit the available ingame options by RL restrictions?
Does giving you the option to race cars in conditions they're not made for diminish the "SIMness" of the game?

Why shouldn't a sim replicate both, events that DO happen IRL and those that don't (for various reasons) but COULD?

Heck, I'd even do an offroad race in a moonbuggy through mare imbrium as long as it's simulated realistically.

Here from the american.

Not for each track, that would be like ~ 180 x 60 matrix (more if you consider "layouts"...and then what about weather?). We'll make sure the 1 default isn't junk though. Least we can do. Won't get you to the top of the Leaderboards off the bat, but car will feel raceable at least. Road cars will get a "track day" setup...not the OEM setup. It's a racing simulator not a "driving simulator" ;)

For players "not into" tuning, we're doing in-game tuning setup sharing/download. You can share tuning setups with each other...no more webpages and Excel sheets or screenshots. Those days are in the past (well, will be later this year!)

Uhm,yep and they don't race F1,GT3 and Indy Cars on ice, snow and mud last time I looked. Were did they get drivers to test and give feed back for these set-ups,oh the Moon I guess.💡 He said it not me! So I'll end it with that. Thanks for the clarification. That was a good one :D at the driving simulator though!:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::gtpflag:

There are some people who would seriously do that. I'd call them insane but it's for fun. Did you do a setup for driving around a kart track in the GT series? No. Because you don't take those races as seriously.
