There won't be a demo. Demos mean less sales for all games, regardless of how amazingly good they are. Hence very few demos lately.

A very odd set of rules are involved here and I'm quoting from published metrics.

Demos are expensive, and have four cases:

Still buying: I was going to buy the game, played the demo, and am still going to buy the game. No change for the company.

Now buying: I wasn't going to buy the game, but after the demo, I will. +1 for the company but quite rare as those not buying aren't motivated to play or 'enjoy' the demo. They want their preconceptions to be confirmed and look for negatives however tentative.

Not buying: I was going to buy the game, but the demo didn't fulfil all of my desires. I'm not buying now. -1 for the company

Never buying: I wasn't going to buy the game, and the demo didn't change my mind or I didn't test it. No change for the company.

Unfortunately for people who like demos, the "Now buying" group tends to be outnumbered by the "Not buying" group; which means that many companies see demos as spending money to lose customers.

Now, we leave all marketing and commercial decisions to Bandai Namco but the data is in and it's clear. Demos, regardless of how good the game is, cost money and do nothing for sales.

Keep this between us. ;) Half of this was nicked from Reddit after I recalled reading it there and in two other places.

Thanks for the raw honesty. Impressive to see a dev so confident on that the user is going to be comprehensive with his point of view. As a user I value the most that the dev treat me as an intelligent person.

Im not agree with that vision though. Demos help people to know if they are really interested on buying the game, so when you buy it, there is no possibility that you feel disappointed.

Sad that the "now buying" group doesn't include enough people with the same experience as I had: not interested on buying the game, try the demo, like the demo, buy the game, like a lot the game and look forward for a sequel or future titles from the same dev.

More rallycross gameplay and gt3 race in Red Bull Ring

I have yet to come across a game where I really can feel the difference. Maybe I am less sensible for those FPS?

Example: people say that the handling model of SLR (30FPS) is better then Dirt Rally's (60FPS) I simply can't understand why 60 is a must be.
The difference is crystal clear to me, but a perfectly-locked 30fps game like Forza Horizon makes it easy to forget about it. As always, the gameplay itself is more important. 60fps is invaluable, especially for some genres like racing games, but a good 30fps game is still a good game.

Re those who genuinely can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps: are you using TVs with interpolation activated? Motion smoothing can make a 30fps game look like 60fps (if you can ignore the janky artifacts that it often throws up and the added input lag). My new set has pretty good adjustable interpolation that basically lets me play Motorstorm Pacific Rift at what looks like 60fps for 90% of the time.
Man, I can't imagine trying to play anything with heavy image processing like that! The input latency of an HDTV in "Game Mode" is already unacceptable. :boggled:

I thought it'd be terrible too, but in Motorstorm PR the lag wasn't even noticeable to me. It'd probably be a different case for a twitch shooter. It was certainly an interesting experiment, but it did make me mourn for the PS4 Motorstorm than never was.

With the ovals that arrive on PC2, can one expect a nascar type career? IRL, there are 2 races on Daytona and Texas (1 day race and 1 night race) + Indianapolis, Sonoma and Watkins Glen, it's 7 races. It would be interesting even if I find that it lacks a short track like Bristol.

I feel sorry for people who buy nice new TVs and don't realise you can turn the motion smoothing off. It's truly awful, although sometimes setting it to minimum isn't quite so bad. But generally i find it detrimental to the image and also puke-inducing.

I've never actually tried it with games though so might give that a quick test just out of curiousity.

A little mild motion smoothing for normal programme watching can work really well on recent TVs if you have it low enough to avoid the soap opera effect, but default settings are generally far too aggressive. It was certainly interesting seeing a 30fps driving game smoothed out to emulate 60fps.

Yeah I've actually got my Panny plasma set to min; any more at it looks bad. Shame the plasma i play games on is older and doesn't have motion smoothing. Although perhaps that's no loss really.

As long as we can get multiple supercars and not just one this time. It will bring back the "Holden vs Ford" feeling.
A Falcon and Commodore would be fine. It worked in Grid:2. Liveries on the other hand... We'd need about 35 for each Supercar. Because, online would be nuts.

It worked then because it was just Holden v Ford. Although Holden would be a good addition, I think Nissan is more likely.

Oh for sure, I'll take the Nissan. Most definitely if it's been modelled over trying to source a Holden.

I'm getting a bit hyped for the road cars. Especially Classes C1 & C2.

Class D needs some fine tuning. If I were to choose C1, C2 & D for a Bathurst 6Hour. There are no Caterhams on the real grid. Though we can't assign AI to cars, a box to delete certain cars would be another option. With random replacements.

According to Andy Tudor, today is a massive day but he can't talk about it. Interesting.

In another exciting episode of Project CARS Twitter replies, we have this.

Either confirming Mugello or officially confirming the Red Bull Ring.

Told this guy to stay tuned regarding Zandvoort.
