Forza Motorsport 6 was 10/10 (framerate and controls) at release at least on Xbox One . Same can't be said about PC1...now i am looking forward PC2 to see if this can manage 60 fps / 1080 p solid on my RX 480 . It's funny how everyone here avoids the most important thing which is performance , if it runs like a-- you won't care about shadows . Most of the videos i saw didn't look that good on that department but i hope that the final version will be fine .

Quite some different opinions expressed in the Spanish reviews about physics and FFB..

Hobby consolas says it's less realistic than the first game basing it on comparing the stability control with the one off assetto (that was said to be artificial BTW by Stefano) :boggled::D there's where i stopped reading more.... Playing with a controller and say that no sense is a joke in a review.

ING said that the game improved, but they expected more... Some cars and tracks are great, others not and FFB on wheel is inconsistent for them, you hear more with sound a piano than feeling it in the FFB....it Don't reached assetto or Rfactor in simulation but they said it's the most complete racing game.

Vandal talk about a good improvement in all the aspects, that controller implementation is better but that it's a game made for a wheel.
About physics, good improvement and about FFB they've said it's better but a quite weak.

And again no words about optimization...good to see that they improved controls though .
I think we've seen in multiple places and reviews that people say it's much more stable and consistent than pCARS 1. I think with RX480 you should be able to get it to run decently, just not sure which settings as AMD cards are usually a bit worse in performance than NVIDIA in SMS titles, although they've improved it eventually for pCARS 1.

In my case, I'm not arguing about Ian visibility or lack of transparency or something like that. I'm arguing about how their point of view (assuming of course he's being honest here) is not good for the game. Saying the shadows problem is "minor" or is only visible on replays does no favours to the game. Really, I'm not buying the game at the moment because those shadows are ****ing distracting and I'm pretty sure those kind of problems scares away thousands of other buyers like me. Saying that it is something normal and irremediable because the game has dynamic lighting and trees with auto shadows does not do favors to the game. There are many games with dynamic lighting and it is the first time we see artifacts so evident in the trees. There's a point of arrogance in Ian's comments that does not do any good either and tends to produce the opposite effect to what he seeks.

But ey, that's my opinion.
He's telling you the truth, not sugar coating anything, while giving you his opinion as to the level of importance this issue has in his eyes. You disagree with that level of importance and aren't going to buy the game. Honest communication leads you to make a better informed buying decision. I don't see the problem here.

Pretty much nailed it right there......

It's all a matter of perspective. For me, the shadows is a non-issue. Couldn't care less about graphics detail. Obviously, other sims out there are the same. Try comparing the level of graphics quality of iRacing or rFactor2 to something like pCARS. Those first 2 end up looking 10 years old. Why? Because they chose to focus on the really important things in the sim. Physics, handling, and competition.

SMS somehow managed to do all of that as well, AND give us an amazing looking game in the process. And oh, did I fail to mention that iRacing (the perceived end-all and be-all in multiplayer sim racing), doesn't even offer Dynamic ToD or weather? Dynamic ToD was just recently announced as an UPCOMING feature by them. Still no word on dynamic weather.

So, in MY opinion, a few shadow effects issues are meaningless. For those who are self confessed "graphics nuts", it might be more important. That however hardly justifies insulting the CEO of a company who is taking time from his very busy day and hectic schedule to be here sharing his insights with us.

My problem is that I want more success for Project CARS and I would prefer a better launch. That's all. I used the shadows flickering problem as an example of devs downplaying "small" details. Those details are what separates good games from awesome games (I mean, in sales terms too). Have you seen this one about AI problems? Minor problems too....

Those things can be viral now because people want polished experiences or at least, extremely innovative options (PUBG type). You have to take one.

Wow! Just wow!!!! Those positive comments on a CONTROLLER with DEFAULT settings!!!!!

Snips of the article :

On a gamepad, though? It’s simply a different game to the first altogether. It’s just so much better. I haven’t even touched any settings; straight out of the box Project CARS 2 feels manageable and planted. It’s a fraction more numb on turn-in compared to the 1:1 directness you get on a wheel but the twitchiness of the first game is just gone. You don’t need a wheel to enjoy this deep, nuanced handling model; there’s a satisfying, challenging, and most of all manageable racing experience to be had here, regardless of your control method.

Regardless of what camp your tent is pitched in – whether you dug it or you didn’t – my message is simple: come back.

Nuff said!

Ps - can't wait for Friday and yes I took a day off from work! ;)

No is is saying these aren't issues, I don't like them myself but it doesn't stop me from enjoying this, or any other game. It's an individual preference. The point is, you are given an honest answer and now you can make an informed decision. If the game isn't for you as it sits, it isn't for you.

I think you are very wrong about that. I won't talk about this in detail as it would be off-topic, but your own example, PUBG proves you incorrect. It is an unfinished, buggy mess at the moment, yet it outsold many AAA titles already. Clearly, even larger issues (I could fill any thread with examples) + a game being unfinished can't stand in the way of success, when said game is great (and PUBG definitely is).

A product don't have to be perfect to be successful, just good enough. The market proves this time and time again.

Mmm, I said:

You can success being innovative like PUBG but if you are a continuist you need to excel in polishing. I think we're saying the same.

Maybe the wrong thread for this, but that time-lapse video on the IGN review is so cool - didn't realise it had dynamic clouds of such high quality...

Question from a noob here...

Is the version of the game these reviewers the "gold" version with the day 1 patch? Or are they reviewing the same build they'd been using for a month now?
