He really isn't, just doesn't take any BS and doesn't suffer fools. He is more than happy to help those people who respond in a reasonable manner. He's spent several years of his life putting his heart and soul into this game and tards turn up on that forum and behave in a quite frankly disgraceful manner. If he loses his patience with them and doesn't give them the time of day then I think that is understandable.
So the people bringing up bugs who get banned are talking BS? Ian isnt what I would call a "no bs but im happy to help" person from what ive seen since the game was in development.

UGH, how petty.

The "cheers!" at the end, so condescending, like a child. Makes my skin crawl.

Back on topic, if money was no object the diamond membership does at least seem pretty cool with what they offer.

Who the heck has $15,831to buy a diamond membership? It seems nice and all but, who has that kind of money to spend without any return on investment? I think I'm just going to get either the silver or gold and I'll probably hold out for a while.

I've had pCARS since the hour it released and until now I've not commented on it as I wanted to silently see how things can improve so I can enjoy this game as much as I hoped I would.

However, this announcement has compelled me to share my thoughts, below is a cut 'n paste of my post in the news feature...

"Project Cars isn’t really the game I was expecting or hoping for, I thought it was going to be my saviour but it kinda turned out to be a false prophet.

To announce pCARS 2 at this stage sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I genuinely hope they can fix the issues with this game because it could be great!

The issues I have personally are game crashes, low FPS (AMD), no triple screen support (seriously?), bad AI and not enough time off work to tinker with the FFB.

Not that it’s bothering me too much, Assetto Corsa, Race Room and Dirt Rally are keeping me entertained nicely…

Besides, I’m not sure im a fan of game sequels now, I’d prefer that there was just one Project cars title and we pay for updates, additional features and content like DCS World, iRacing, Assetto Corsa and R3E.

Except for tracks and cars, how different can pCARS 2 be?"

Unless there is going to be a new graphics engine or physics engine, why make a completely new game? Project Cars should be a Motorsport sandbox where there is all kinds of racing and championships going on.

But I suppose if there is no pCARS 2, then there will be no chance of a candle lit dinner with Ian Bell...

At the same time it's not really on to ask people to crowd fund your second game when the first sold well considering the issues.

Yes people will be retarded but at the same time they are entitled to if they buy a game that has certain features which are pretty damn broken.

Of course they have dev kits for development and internal testing. However, the bulk of the console testing and the 1st party acceptance is normally done by professional testing/QA outfits, as it was done for pCARS 1.

Has there been examples before of times when PC is the lead platform and console ports were more buggy compared to PC?

Maybe next time they can have the PS4 as a lead platform, that is where the money is anyway.

If you guys missed it (or didn't read), there will be ~40 people supporting pCARS 1 for the foreseeable future. pCARS 2 will have the remaining SMS people on it. So smaller features/bug fixes will be happening for a while still, if that's your concern.

^ No, you're not wrong. Project Cars is to be supported for 2 years, with lots of updates. As of now there are some 40 people working on supporting pCARS 1. pCARS 2 is two years away, at a guess, so there's nothing to fear :)

Ah good news. I almost feel regret purchasing Project CARS day 1 (PS4 version) with their latest car pack.

I too was not expecting this announcement so soon, but even more, wasn't expecting them to ask for money again.
And what's worst, is the actions of the Head of the studio. If he has a short temper, then maybe he should have someone else take care of public relations.
Yeah I know it sucks when people badmouth our work, but if you want to keep good relations for the foreseeable feature, you can't behave like a spoiled brat when things don't go your way.
I'm definitely not buying this day one, and most of the people I run races with won't either.

I'll tell you one thing though: Ian's reactions have put into perspective PD's usual silence when it comes to GT. Silence can indeed be golden.

At least is nice to see the 'good' EA policies have rubbed in someone ;)

It's not worth trying . People dont want to read that it is a new game(rallycross),they wont to understand that it was not a port , they dont wont know that all new games start after the release.

They just want read what they want to read so they be cool hate.

Its only sold 1 million copies across 3 platforms...hardly setting the world alight.

Also do the profits not get split between backers?

Maybe you should go to forum and read more than one thread out of thousands and most are little brats asking the same thing over and over and are very abusive.

I know that I'm probably not going to get pCars2. It's Shift all over again for me personal. I bought Shift and not Shift2.
Although I like pCars a lot, it's not good enough for personally to buy pCars2 when it comes out.

Assetto Corsa 2 on the other hand ... that's another story.

Brats that bought the game. 'Don't bite the hand that feeds you.'
They have sales figures, they know the demographics that purchase the game. If they can't handle the whiny brats (yeah I know that forum has a lot of them), then either be quiet developing the game (like other companies do), or maintain a respectable position.
Coming down to the brat level doesn't help their cause. I can live with bugs in software (it happens), but people that behave like over entitled pricks do piss me off and will not get my support in the future. And I'm not alone in this.

But hey, whatever floats their boat. The Kardashians are a bunch on entitled pricks and got a TV show. So maybe SMS will have theirs.

I think the problem most people are having right now is the fact that it's a month after release, and they're asking for money, not that they're working on the second.

Working on the second game already? Alrighty then.

Working on the second game and needing money already? What the hell. Atleast go 5/6 months after release before you start pushing crowdfunding. It comes off as we want more money rather than help make another game.

Maybe this time they won't change the perks and funding multiple times, and end up screwing people.

Damn PCars released 2 months ago. Is this some kind of a record ? They should have waited. Doesn't look very good in the public eye.

Don't forget that the information about a sequel is usually (always?) kept secret. I recall reading that PD started the next iteration shortly after a release and no one batted an eye then. We get to know these things because of how SMS operates. It's not like they aren't going to keep releasing patches and DLC anytime soon. They may be getting the ball rolling now based on their experiences with the first release.

Considering most of them are also the financial backers of pCARS, I'd say SMS doesn't have the luxury of answering "shove it".

As for the topic of discussion, asking for money for a sequel two months after the release of pCars sounds desperate and lame to me. Well, I'm glad I never got involved in all this crowd-funded uber-l337 sim business.
