In which way?
Rain tyres are generally softer than slick tyres that's why it's not impossible that they can be as fast as slicks, at least until they start to overheat (which they didn't do quickly enough in PCARS 1 I admit).
We were talking about all-weather tyres. These would have to be significantly harder than slicks in order to work in all conditions and therefore be significantly slower.

And when talking about tyres for rain only: I very much doubt they would even last a full lap in the dry without overheating if they are SOFTER than slicks. Proof? No one uses them for qualifying in the dry, which they would at least consider if a full lap on a softer compound was possible and the profile really doesn't make a difference.

PCars1 vs PCars2, side by side - Ginetta G55 GT3 @ Sakitto GP
ingame date/time: 17. July 2017 16:00

as you discuss hier about some features, i add my original description from Youtube.

PCARS2 side is a little bit blurry, tried to upload more than once, but Youtube did it bad every time.
My personal impression: PCARS2 has a little bit more depth in the background as it does not give the feeling of a big painted wall.
Sun reflexions are great.
Sound you hear is the deep roaring of a real Gineta, instead of that in PCARS1, where it sounded like a chain saw.
There are few trees in PCARS2, but SMS added the wooden bridge at start/finish, the Feris wheel and a power plant near the big lake.

Could someone point out the key differences , my old amateur eyes are struggling . Both look great to me
Biggest difference is the MUCH smoother entry into the Esses. The hard bump is no longer there.

Other than that, there are a few smaller visual changes. Also going into the Esses on the old version there are just trees. On the new version there are fewer trees and a ferris wheel is now visible.

Like I said, most of it is subtle visual changes, but the really BIG thins is the elimination of that bump.

Track texture looks like it was "repaved" even though it's a fake track lol. And of course the ferris wheel is a nice touch. Brings night racing to life.

FZA
Track texture also looks much better and lighting also look much more natural in my opinion

I didn't want to comment on those, as I have no way of knowing for certain that both are using the exact same settings. Track texture and lighting quality can be very settings dependent.

Also, I am at work, so had to keep it muted. Can't comment on the sound differences. ;)

I think that's why he made a note of the in game date and time. You can see the shadows in the same places. I wish more comparison videos took the time to do this and the weather too.

He always says that same argument.

But since it was confirmed by producer (@The_American @IanBell ) that game went gold "weeks ago" there is fantastic oportunity to start bombarding us with actual OFFICIAL and NEWEST gameplay and features videos from CONSOLES.
Really if you want to stay behind attitude of "rewievers should rewiev our game only AFTER they get day one patch" you are not going to get any more support from CONSOLE players! You stand to lose even more!
F12017 had great reviews, then Codemasters released their day 1 patch and the game is a mess graphically and gameplay wise, so yes, the only reviews I care about are those of the game that we receive including the day one patch.

It is better to have both!

Do you understand? Both...

And as I have said - screw that and rating and all that - but that still leaves one more thing!

There are no recent officialy made ON CONSOLE produced contents after game went into gold phase! Whyyyyy?

So, yes, I AM going to wait for reviews at least 15-30 days AFTER day one. I can not preorder when they will show nothing on PS4/Xbox... Do you remember many good games that did this? Do you want to support such treatment of all console peasants.... urrrr, I meant players?

Try finding any(!) official gameplay for NBA2K18, no matter the platform. And this game gets released next week...

All the gameplay videos that are published at the moment are made by WMD members who don't have access to console builds.
The devs are still in full development mode right now leaving them with zero time to do console videos.
I totally understand your sentiments and I probably wouldn't pre-order either without any console footage but it's not that SMS are hiding those versions from the public for questionable reasons.

I was so happy when I came across his page. Check out all of his PCars1 Overtake Challenge videos. Some of them he does with 4 random weather slots and those are the best. I hope to see more from PCars2. Some of his PCars1 videos are WIP builds so maybe he's a WMD member. But if so why has he not posted any videos until now?

Remember watching those a few years ago. Hope he does it again with pCARS 2.

Great comparison video! The main visual difference for me is that the PCARS2 visuals look less grey/watered but have more warm colours for stuff far in the background. Also not so apparent in this video but the texture detail of trees in general has gone up as well.

I really love that wooden bridge on the start/finish, gives it a little bit of Japanese flavor! The feris wheel I don't know yet if I like it or not. And that power plant is there in PCARS1 already as well, you can barely see it through the trees in your video. :) It's just a lot more visual in the PCARS2 video due to the SMS deforestation squadron activities. :)

A bit sad to see about all trees on the infield side have been cut though. I wonder if it's been done for technical/performance or aesthetic reasons. I mean I really like some extra trees around a map - especially on a fictional map - but maybe they wanted to give the track a more "connected" feel.

I remember that bridge being there when pCARS1 first launched. I don't remember if it was patch 2 or 3 that removed it, but glad to see it back.

I never understood/knew why they removed it.

I noticed the same thing on all tracks so far and I have a feeling LiveTrack 3.0 and its dynamic racing line could be the reason behind this artistic change. In PC1 the track surface had the rubbered in and generally more used look baked into its textures on the racing line, but since LiveTrack 3.0 seems perfectly capable of handling these things dynamically it seems to me the tracks will have a more clean look to them to start off.

I really do wish the windshield rain animation will be looked at, at least after the games release.
The game looks so good, but the windshield effects just break the immersion completely for me in the rain.

Just like how the lit up cockpit really broke it for me in pCARS 1 at night. (This is now fixed! Welcome back night racing :)) I did see one car (Ferrari GTE?) with decent looking effects, so maybe there is still hope. Would love to hear some on this from WMD guys.

I hope we'll get Community Events featuring snowy weather. I will probably be rubbish at these, but it will be fun and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the most competitive guys will fare.

EDIT: Oh, and clearly there is too much grip. There were parts where you almost went in a straight line. ;)

*Just trying snow out for the first time over the past weekend. Thought it was more of a novelty but after this weekend its one of my favorite features of the game. Know the above is fantasy but doing the RL tracks with snow cover is very rewarding. Great change of pace from road racing.

The Azure Coast and Nurburgring point-to-point would be excellent in snow. California Hwy in variable conditions, are some of things I'll be trying.
