I hate to rain on my own parade (me having the highest hopes for the game) but I just saw this and it confirmed a couple issues I had with the video.

I'm still hopeful and I'm going to remain positive, but... I can't ignore this ridiculous drift fest

I’m not sure if it is the impression of speed or Austin’s alien-y fast and smooth driving that is throwing people off, but the physics doesn’t look that different from pCars 2 really.

This handling would be epic fun on country tracks driveclub and need for speed style of circuits. I hate it when translated into racing circuits.

How many countryside tracks are we going to have?, because if the handling is gonna be like this then that will be a decisive purchasing factor.

I am pretty much confident about every aspect of this game... JUST LEAVE PITSTOPS :( I am really worried about them. Why Ian Bell is saying about some decisions about them? It looks like they ditched them and are afraid to tell this straight. I hope he means that no pit stops in career mode but avaialable on custom race or something.

Well with a video title like that its clear his mind was made up after 5 seconds of the trailer. People are being truly ridiculous.

In my opinion, any game where you can add more HP to a car through upgrades is not a sim because I don't see how one can properly simulate how a car would feel with an extra 15HP or 55HP and so on and so forth or even upgrading suspension on the car to make it handle better. I don't see how someone can simulate those factors.

I just bought and downloaded PC2 (will wait quite a bit before trying PC3), and I did so because I was quite interested in the Career Mode associated with it.

But, presently, I do three or four daily races on GT Sport, and I think I am right in saying that all the daily races do NOT allow for performance upgrades, instead having 'Balance of Perfomance' peformance regulations applied to weight and power, for every car, designed to equalize the cars.

The same for the two FIA-sanctioned (and to my mind that is a BIG plus) races - the Manufacturers Cup and Nations Cup competions.

I take some pleasure from knowing that GT Sport is derided as 'arcade' and for casuals. LOL.

I read that they focused on short 'adrenaline' races and that is why no pitstops..
If ever that's true then what's the use of dynamic time of day and weather. And setups to a degree.
Edit: and of live track. Doesn't make sense.

I never thought GT Sport was really full arcade that's what NFS series is for. I just think it's not on the level of PC, Assetto Corsa and the like.

Real racing have regulations, but none of them restricted tuning of suspension, dampers, and other stuff. GT sport overdone BOP making those races easy to everyone, but also toned down cars in general, which made for me drive those cars harder. Fighting understeer in GT sport just a greater challenge with controller, than PC2 loose setup, in a bad way. PD should have mercy on my hands:). In PC all cars as they were in reality, and people faster because they generally faster, not because, as I see you think, PC allow tuning.

Similar to what @MagpieRacer said above, the amount of people that are making up their minds based on things they think might happen is incredible. Rarely is a game 'absolute garbage' or perfect. Most likely it'll be a very well done game, that has a few minor things that could use fixing. And, no doubt, some people will call it unplayable or trash because of a minor fault. Then they'll come on here, or social media and complain how it ruined their life. Then all that needs done is to find a highly negative "eye-grabbing" title for their YouTube video where they rant about the game

I'm really glad to hear this. I was thrown off by the copious amounts of drifting and sliding. I have never raced in real life and have only watched racing, IMSA and F1, and in those disciplines I have never seen that much drifting.

Interesting that you make note of the title of his video. As a PC2 Super Fan, I hated that title. It made me avoid watching it for hours. I don't believe in "click bait" and don't like to reward it.

But, I decided I wanted to hear his thoughts. I don't care for narrow minded people. In my profession, I have many uncomfortable (yet polite) conversations with people. So, I figured, it would be narrow minded of me to avoid the video just because I disliked the title.

That said, I agree with him on 2 points:

1. The was a lot of drifting and sliding.

2. The interior view looked exactly as he described it.

I immediately put on PC2 (it was already on. I just switched over to it) and driver the GTE Corvette to compare the interior view. Although not the same car, he was once again correct about the comparison.

It's very early still and I retain my high hopes for PC3.

I included the video because I'm interested in the opinions of the people I respect here on this site, especially the ones who love PC2 like I do.

Now the shaders on the interior are "arcade"?! After years of complaints that PCARS2 wasn't prettier?!

What do you think I have spent some of my time doing in PCARS2? :) This is not my video, but have a sample of what PCARS2 can do:

Drifting is a good stress-test of a sim's physics, because the tire models in a lot of sims fall apart when pushed out of their comfort zone. Others fudge things to smooth over that problem and/or make oversteer more accessible. That was the intention of the Corvette video; assists turned off, deliberately breaking traction.

You actually cannot really assess a sim's physics without drifting and sliding. You're only getting part of the picture if you stay within the limits.

Thank you for explaining this @Wolfe

I'm learning everyday in this community.

So, does this mean that the video was specifically designed to show how accurate the physics and handling are and not trying to demonstrate racing itself?

It's almost as if race cars have slick tires and thousands of pounds of downforce keeping them glued to the road...

This guy on youtube also compares roadgoing Corvette C7 to racing Porsche 911 GT3-R... SO SIMILAR CARS!! xD xD

I am pretty confident with driving model. This footage of Corvette C7 looks very nice (i also like graphics there). No only thing we wait is pit-stops. :)

What we need is for someone to do a video of a C7 Corvette road car at a proper racing circuit on PCars 2 for a comparison.

Project Cars 3 Vs 2.jpg

Project Cars 3 on the left, Project Cars 2 on the right. Very similar.

yup, that's my biggest remaining concern

Slthree,

This video, tho one of gameplay of the new PC3, seems unlike others I have seen. Much more drifting, tyre screeching than any other PC3 video I have seen to date. What do you think is the reason?

I thought it was a negative thing. I thought drifting and sliding was very "fast and furious" arcade but it appears I was wrong

Go back up to the posts starting with 525. It's explained why it's not arcade but sim. I learned something there
