Honestly, this is comedy gold.

First, the weekly videos are late because a dev is on holiday, now its the entire company.

what the hell? It looks like they literally gave up with this game. Now i really do hope they will delay it to improve. If they have huge holidays in company ONE MONTH before their biggest game launch i have huge concerns about it's quality day one.

To be fair that's not from SMS, that's an example of what the mods on the official forum and Discord are like to any issues raised at all, its full-on defence mode on both right now.

yeah right. My mistake... still.. This is plain stupid in my opinion. I still think they are going to delay this game. They don't have any competition from GT 7 and Forza 8 this year so they can easily take their time and release PCars 3 on october/november or something. I can't see better explanation of this PR silence.

It's certainly odd, but they may be under pressure from BN to put it out ASAP, certainly as they are now under CM's umbrella.

Doesn't a game normally go gold 1 month before release?

For the most part, yeah. TLOU 2 (not the most comparable game to PC3, but the sheer size of the game is probably important) went gold just over a month before release. It's pretty weird how little we've heard about this game considering it's now literally a month away. Usually this is where games would start their press run or something

Project CARS3, hmm... I cant say i'm not excited. To me, a semi sim Project cars is to the likes of a little tiny frog, but a frog with heart courage and ambition which also possess super unearthly leap abilities (a super hero frog). While out in the plains as we gaze on at the mega brawl between two giants, King Kong (Forza) and Godzilla (Gran Turismo) battling each other for superiority. Awewh! out from nowhere comes a tiny frog leaping way over their heads causing King Kong and Godzilla to stare and be petrified with amazement at this little tiny frog's abilities. What happens next? will this high flying frog open up the sky and bring a massive force of energy to tame the two giants and force them to bow down to his will?! or will the fate of the little tiny frog just be a fall in agony from the sky that ends from a tiny splatter in the dusty plains?! To be continued...

Everything is basically a pathetic embarrassing joke.

This is exactly what happens when you sell your soul to the devil that is Codemasters.

SMS waited until only a week before the original release date of that F&F game to announce a delay, wouldn’t be surprised if we get the same thing here

That delay was because the movie was delayed, not because the game wasn’t ready.

Yeah, I think Konan is the one that need some holiday. He’s usually pretty nice, but he seems overly defensive and a bit irrational at the moment.
I do actually feel for him, he's a mod on the official boards and discord, yet SMS and BN seem to be leaving them as much in the dark as anyone.

This has nothing to do with Codemasters at all, it SMS and Banai Namco that are responsible for this. It's not being published by Codemasters, but by BN, compare the marketing of PC3 with Dirt 5 (which is not out until October).

If it was Codemasters then we would see much better marketing than this thing.

I find it funny comparing the difference between Codemasters marketing their own upcoming game (Dirt 5) compared to what SMS is doing for Project CARS 3.

CM even provided a roadmap for information drops for Dirt 5 and even dropping new details multiple times within a month. Meanwhile, SMS is having trouble sticking to one promise they made. :boggled:

It still baffles me how Ian has the utter guts to say this game has "All the sim you could ever want" and then proceeds to remove tire wear, pit stops, fuel, and turn it into a literal clone of GRID 2019.

Yeah... Codies even pleased both fans of arcade and sim by announcing that Dirt Rally and Dirt will be separate things.

Yep and did a fine job with F1 2020, moving the handling in a more sim direction, while still managing to make it more accessible to newcomers (while still keeping tyre wear, fuel burn and pitstops).

Don't get me wrong, CM screwed up Grid and screwed over the Evolution team, and I also dislike the DLC and Premium launch policies they have for a lot of titles, such reselling DR content as DR2.0 DLC and premium for early launches, etc.

This custer****, however, is all SMS and BN.

Yeah. I actually liked GRID. I just feel it is very shallow if you look on content. But it is very nice and accessible game. I hope they will make sequel to it and not make same mistakes.

Without even mentioning that Dirt Rally 2 is one of the best racing games of the gen, and for the rally aficionados probably the best.

Naughty Dog receiving much more hate than this game, but people there were confident about what how to handle. If only Project Cars would be the same top quality product, which sells well even in hostile environment. Still as talented as ND is, marketing was great and exiting.

Probably Bandai too busy with their first party projects, or simply upset with SMS move. Or after first impression decided to stop pilling money into this. Marketing is a publisher's work.

project cars 3= the new project gotham lol. That was Driveclub.
I don't think a driving sim with upgrades and LiveTrack, nor a road racing game fixated on luxury and exotic and concept cars, are either really spiritually related to an urban racing "simcade" game that makes a point of featuring diverse categories of vehicles from across history. Just my opinion.

There is no new PGR without real-world cities providing several variations of circuits. That's the point -- it was originally Metropolis Street Racer.

That's another hole in the market right now. There's no PGR and also no Midnight Club.

All this hand wringing over the way a company is marketing? I'm pretty sure a lot on here are quite happy to pronounce this game as terrible. It's almost a self fulfilling prophecy, people don't like the no pit stops, and all that goes with that, then find every little thing to then complain about.

If this game is good, it'll do well. We still have A FULL MONTH before release. With the attention span of the internet, there is plenty of time. People will buy this if it's good, simple as that.

As an example, I don't play many action games, and virtually never play an RPG. This game came out for PS4 called Monster Hunter World. You might've heard of it. I knew NOTHING about it. Didn't even know it was getting released, and frankly didn't care. Never saw a single video for it, nor an ad, even though I'm sure they marketed it fairly well. I saw it on the store, and was curious enough to look up a review, since some were saying it was great. After watching several reviews, and some gameplay, I decided that it looks fun and I bought it. 1000 hours of gameplay later, and money spent on DLC.....it was an all time great for me. I had not seen an ad, gameplay footage....or anything. Definitely not their target audience.

If PC3 is a bad game, it'll do poorly. But to just bash everything SMS does before seeing a review or actually playing it is ridiculous. I don't really blame them for not releasing a bunch of stuff right now because even the things that should be a plus are turned into a negative by the social media warriors on here.

Don't read into this what I'm not saying - I'm very disappointed in no tire wear/fuel/pit stops. But I'm not going to judge a game just because it doesn't necessarily fit into what I personally deem to be a good game

@Benny44 -- Not that it's any example of a roaring success, but Rain World is a masterfully innovative work of art and I only caught wind of it because I peruse all the new releases on the Switch eShop as they come in. It wasn't until later that I remembered the "marketing" I saw of it years before -- GIFs of alpha/beta gameplay clips shared in places like 4chan and imgur.

Rain World is also on PS4, just to put that out here... :) I will never make a Dark Souls comparison lightly, but Dark Souls fans who also enjoy 2D platformers should probably feel at home in it.

This isn't really a point about minimal marketing working out, but your story reminded me of it.

Not shock i mean is that mod Konan after all dude cant be more in bed with sms if he tries so yeah hes gonna make up any excuse possible for them
He's melting down even more over on the Discord now, threatening to ban people for saying don't preorder if you don't like the marketing, when people have then pointed out that's pretty much what Nathan Bell said on the exact same discord chat he's straight back into frenzied defence mode.

For a mo on an official Discord and Forum he's doing a damn good job of putting people off, and he really didn't like it when I pointed that out either.

I didn't say pc3 = new pgr. I was talking about the video one folk posted that read that tittle. That's why I said that Driveclub has been the one and only pgr successor, not a game based primarily on track racing regardless it is simcade.

Yeah, he was trying to say the two versions of the same message, one for a poster and one for Nathan bell were different
Which they're not
