From the codies blog

Hello fellow racers! Things are heating up here at Slightly Mad Studios as we continue to work on content to show you all what the Project CARS 3 has to offer. This is my favourite part, because I get to reveal all that juicy info you’ve been asking for… but before we get there, take a moment to enjoy the first in a series of hot lap videos showing some of the new content that’s coming to Project CARS 3. Fans of the IndyCar series will not want to miss out on this one as it features the all-new, twin-turbo V6, 700bhp Dallara 2019-spec single-seater crushing the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Earlier this week, we also continued our series of Developer Blogs, this time focusing on Project CARS 3’s vehicle upgrades system. The physics and handling teams walk you through the breadth and customisation of vehicle upgrades, allowing you to design your dream machine.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the next videos as we start shining a spotlight on some of the new cars and content coming August 28. Find them all on our official Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as our website.

This line made me laugh

Lets hope they get there before the game launches

Do you know how many seconds it took me to find this?

Why do you need to know something that you will find out once the game is released? Then you make the call on buying it or not.

Ok now show me gameplay from the final product and not a beta video that only god knows how old it is.

Sorry for the double post :banghead:

Because that would require patience;)
.

Are you serious i know about this video when it first released.

I'm not interested in beta footage i want gameplay footage from the product that comes out in 32 days. thats the footage that will tell me what the game really is and not beta footage that maybe over a year old.

(...)beta footage that maybe over a year old.

Wait, you can have footage that's over a year old, in which case it won't be Beta, or you can have Beta footage which will be a month or two old at best. You can't have both, as Betas happen usually 1-3 months, sometimes even less, before final release. I would consider that video close to final, if not final, as Beta means only small bugs are being fixed.

I'm a Sony Beta tester, I've been involved in a number of Beta's that have run a good six months out from launch.

If you want gameplay footage from the product that comes out in 32 days, then I'm afraid you will have to wait 32 days.

Wasn't the pre-order for ACC on PS4 only live for about a week? I wouldn't worry too much, the barrage of info that will come our way as we hit August may even be too much. I almost quite like not knowing every single detail about the game.
I really hope so.:)

With the psn summer sale going on right now i been having to pretty much fight myself to not spend my funds since there reserve for pcars 3.

@David Wright And you think that's good marketing?

Normally, but I can think of two that were a year out from release.

How long were those games in development for? As well as the type of game? I think the beta period for something like an MMO is going to be more extensive then your average racing game, for instance. The larger and more ambitious the world the more bugs will need squashing, no doubt.

Actually scratch that, it’s actually three, two racing titles and one that technically has no fixed genre.

FPS’ tend to have the shortest beta time before launch, and keep in mind I’m talking real Betas here, not the marketing driven ones we have had over the last few years.

Yes, we're talking about the actual bug-fixing periods. I think PCARS 3 is probably, assuming the 'Early Beta Footage' is 1 month old, 4 months in Beta. I would still say it's unlikely they'll change the gameplay much from then to release, so I think we can judge the overall look as representative of what we'll get. Time will tell.

I almost quite like not knowing every single detail about the game.

It works on story driven games, where every detail is a spoiler, but what will be spoiled if reveal everything before the launch of a racing game. Imagine Project Cars 3 released and there only those 5 cars we saw so far, and 3 tracks, and will find out it only after 30 hours through career:).

One month now and still no
- pre order possible on xbox store
- no „gold“ announcement

Lets hope they don‘t mess it up / release date.

More gameplay videos to show its content will be great, that video was released hours after the initial announcement back in early June. After that gameplay footage, all we get is the C7 drift video follow by the most recent Indycar footage then SMS themselves forgot about their own weekly gameplay footage release. pCARS 3 just don't show or talk about the game much, for a game releasing in a month time and having drastic changes to the previous titles it has a lot less info about it compared to Dirt 5 releasing in October.

At least for ACC the console players could look at the PC footage for its content and features, a late pre order and lack of actual console footage doesn't really matter as much for ACC case.

I'm quite indifferent to whether or not this marketing is effective enough as things stand right now -- I'm pretty sure this game is fated to bleed out from its initial shot in the foot -- but I am waiting for the next of the weekly videos 11+ day cycle of videos. And the car list, the most important factor left to be revealed (IMO) given what it has become.

I have a feeling that they will give "beta" version to some youtubers like Broadbent, GamerMuscle and they will do the marketing. Then we will see much more new gameplay.

Codies made similar thing with GRID.

BTW. Seeing all the backlash on twitter and Facebook about pit-stops etc. Makes me wonder. Maybe they will add this in patch as requested feature or even they will delay this game a little bit just to add this. There is literally non positive comments on their community channels only hate about removing this features. I think they are not blind and this could be reason why they went silent.

Could also look at the calendar. However the discontent was still massive over lack of console footage and pre orders. And justifiably so.

If they add Pitstops it will be them going back in their word. It will take away from the core aspect of the game. I doubt they will fold and give into criticism like Mass Effect 3. SMS is far to hard headed to do that, or even admit it was a mistake. At least until the next game is announced anyway.

Yeah. Maybe you are right. But the information blackout is still worrying. They didn't deliver promotion materials they were promising that is strange.

Both Amazon and Argos have it available for pre order

The reason for the delay in the hotlap video is " Covid and holidays " ?

And if you rejig the market for this game it kinda makes more sense. If only SMS had marketed it as such.

F1 2020 had a fairly short beta phase, a couple of months.
I was involved in that.

Maybe, but then it's not SMS's final call anymore.

From a mod on the forums and discord rather than SMS, as that excuse is utter ********. They said they would be weekly at the time the first video was put up, just over ten days ago, fairly sure that they would have been aware of Covid and holiday schedules at that point.

the pr / marketing of pcars 3 is just plain bs currently.

All eyes on them since no Forza or GT around so soon and they prefer to stay silent.

Not even a gold announcement yet 👎

Doesn't a game normally go gold 1 month before release?

Are they not proud of there own game to announce it going gold?

I see other companies on twitter announce when there game goes gold?
