Looks like things are looking brighter 👍

I'd argue making a post about a game company announcing impending preorders for their game that everyone's been complaining about a lack of preorder information for is a little less pointless than a post complaining about that post. 💡

Good to hear that the car and track lists are close. Looking forward to seeing the new goodies on the car list and hopefully confirmation of what we expect track wise.

And you don't see my point in your reply to me saying is pointless?

If people are complaining then why not make a post with the date for when the pre orders are going live. Stop with the walk around, every post is either is coming, its right around the corner, stay connected to our social media for more..... blah blah blah blah.

What's gonna be there next twitter post about pre orders

Pre-orders are 2 turns away so please stay connected to our social media for more
..

Would need to be done for all stats, not just one, which would even out and still put photo mode as less popular than Pitstops.

Of course they'll even out. After all, achievement hunters go for all achievements.

All I'm saying is, just because someone has the achievements for pitstops, doesn't mean they are avid/frequent users of said mechanics. Same for Photo Mode. Just so that people don't think that 11% of players are major pitstop users. The actual percentage may not be that.

Agree, just found it interesting.

The new clip looks and sounds fantastic indeed.

With luck, I'd sure appreciate the choice to trade that 935 out for a 356, 914, or stock original 911. Bring on the car list. :)

One thing that annoys me with the new video is that replay quality is still an issue. It could be YouTube, but I think I’m seeing the old stuttering problem that pCARS seems to have on and off with the replays. I don’t use replays much in the actual game and the driving part seems smooth, but it doesn’t look good in a marketing video.

Interestingly I’ve just checked my PC2 trophies and at least 11% of people have created and used a pit strategy, which is more than have used photo mode.

Really didn’t think it would be that way around, or that photo mode use was that low.

Steam stats fwiw:
21% ran any race online
15% took a photo
11% drove their own damn selfs in the pit lane
11% made and used a custom pit strategy

Maybe our photo mode is easier to navigate than the console version?

Certainly sounds like it

Are all cars going to be available at startup?
I don't care to race for money to buy cars, SMS is in full millennial mode catering to the "newbies," I don't get this infatuation with carrier mode, never had to use it.
But then again I understand what all 3 pedals are for.

@FuriousDemon -- I observed the stutter too.

I think the deal is that all cars are available, but you must own a car to upgrade or customize it.

A career mode and gameplay mechanics like XP, a dealership, and a shop provide context to the racing -- akin to the context of buying and modifying a real car for real days at a track. Cars you've bought, painted, and sunk credits into are yours, and people enjoy that.

It is only a logical step from simulating driving a car, to simulating ownership of a car. A collection of cars, even -- much like the "useless" collections of some members of your generation. Every baby boomer car guy I know has model cars. I have some too. Virtual cars and model cars are both more interesting to me than postage stamps or baseball cards. To each their own. :)

In short, some of us are looking for a more complete experience than just plopping cars on a track and driving in circles.

With that kind of cynicism you may as well have asked what's the infatuation with manual transmission. You don't need it to drive a car. Mind you, I've been driving manual for 17 years. Actually, I've understood what all three pedals are for almost as long as I've been playing videogames, since I was a child. It's a concept children can understand. ;)

Gran Turismo 5,6 an Sport have all those options and more.
Turn the game on and you selected Arcade or Sim. Then you had your dealerships, upgrade vendors, livery options and even used cars of all types.
You as the player could choose which course you follow.
SMS didn't need to gut the more technical features of Project Cars 3 to make the game more accessible.
This could have been a "win," for everyone by making those features affected, by allowing them to be used or not.

He's melting down even more over on the Discord now, threatening to ban people for saying don't preorder if you don't like the marketing, when people have then pointed out that's pretty much what Nathan Bell said on the exact same discord chat he's straight back into frenzied defence mode.

For a mo on an official Discord and Forum he's doing a damn good job of putting people off, and he really didn't like it when I pointed that out either.

You need to get your facts straight...
Nathan saying "if you don't like it don't buy it" is totally different than advising people against buying the game because of bad marketing. Let alone doing it on the server of the company creating it.
You fail to mention that an SMS staff member stepped in saying exactly the same.
If any of you want to confront me than do it in my face but don't go full key board warrior behind my back...

Agreed, it was unnecessary.

I was thinking about Gran Turismo earlier today. For most of us who've partaken in online leagues, pit stops are a huge deal, but from my memory of GT5's single-player career mode at least, pit stops hardly featured until the end when the Endurance races unlocked. The same might be true for FM7 - please correct me if I'm mistaken. That might also have influenced PC3's focus.

Hopefully, SMS are working on pit stops behind the scenes for their next game. I suspect the added focus of stock/street vehicles would have caused issues with the pit crew animations, plus it might take 5 minutes to change tyres on a stock road car, which wouldn't be fun if simulated realistically. :)

Don't forget a lot of marketing for PC2 was spurred along by WMD members and large game shows, which was often regurgitated as online news articles and videos. Perhaps PC2 marketing would have been just as limited without the WMD boost???

If a post calling a Twitter post pointless is pointless, then how pointless is a post calling the post about the pointless Twitter post pointless? :boggled:

...and now I'm perpetuating it! :dunce:

Being serious, the video of the 935 was actually pretty promising looking. I feel like they should have lead with some gameplay like this instead of the nonsense we saw in the early gameplay videos where the game looked more like GRID or something. Might have helped avoid alienating so many players right off the bat.

I noticed the replay stuttering in a few spots as well, but after being stuck with the awful replays in Forza, I've always loved the PC2 replays and forgiven little things like that.

I feel like replays are kind of a neglected aspect of many modern racing games. Given how much YouTube is used and how often social media is used for sharing/promoting, and the growth of eSports, I'm kinda surprised we haven't had one of the racing games try to implement something like the Rockstar Editor for a replay system. Having people upload race replays to YouTube with great camera angles highlighting battles and replays of crashes and incidents almost like a real-life broadcast would be pretty awesome advertising for a game. I'd think the creative side of the playerbase would have a lot of fun with it too, and organized leagues would love it.

And that would be perfectly fine in PC3. With PitStops only in end game endurance races. Unfortunately we won't have it.

Was this the car with a spool on the power ramp that handled so well in pc2?

Look exactly like pc2 to me, so then what would be the point for me to buy it?, have they already fixed the ffb for good after two games? (I doubt it very much), six or eight tracks extra and that will be all?, I already have this game in a sense but with pitstops and complex deep tyre model integrated.

This is actually my thoughts after those gameplays.

My facts are perfectly straight, and the two are quite comparable, a point I 100% stand behind, and now we are in a location you can't ban me for saying so to your face I'm quite happy to do so.

The biggest point turning me off of PC3 as a title right now is not the areas that have been removed, but the attitude and behaviour of the staff and team at SMS, particular the manner in which they deal (or rather don't) with any issues or concerns that people have with it. You may be happy to attempt to turn the official forums and discord into an echo chamber, but that's an option you don't get here.

@IanBell must be so proud that a moderator from the official board and discord has taken to stalking potential customers across forums in this manner, you guys are doing SMS and Codemasters reputation no end of harm!

Stalking?
Lmfao... It was brought to my attention that thrash talk (my term) was going on behind my back so i came over here to rectify what was a very small part of a conversation.
If that's stalking, you urgently need to reassess your standards.
@fernandito... Grow up

I wasn't aware I was required to inform you in advance of the conversation, oh and you're also being dishonest in regard to the situation in question. No one was told not to buy PC3 because of the poor marketing, but to not pre-order it.

Your claim...

"advising people against buying the game because of bad marketing"

...the actual words used...

truth.jpg

Zabbzi didn't tell people not to buy it, well unless pre-orders are now the only way to purchase games now.

Semantics... So if you preorder you're not buying it?
Besides, that wasn't even the point.
Advising people against the game is simply not done on the server owned by the very company you're trying to sabotage...
It's ok if you don't want to preorder but let people make up their own mind about it, and certainly not trying to influence them based upon so-called bad marketing.

EDIT: Tree'd. First few minutes are giving me heavy Shift/GRID vibes, which I'm actually pretty fond of.

And I disagree, and certainly, there are significantly better ways to handle it that was carried out in the original conversation. However, as I said, you clearly want those locations to be echo chambers, that's not going to happen here.

And it's not semantics, pre-orders are for day one purchases, as you well know plenty of people will hold off until day one has passed and buy once reviews, etc are in.

I like the look and feel of the UI/UX, the upgrades look good, however, once it gets into the racing the AI looks to be very punt-happy. It's the beta so I hope to hell that's been resolved, as the race from around 20 minutes in he restarts multiple times after getting punted repeatedly.

BTW - switch on the auto-translate subtitles, its hilarious watching youtube trying to manage it.

Isn't that exactly what i'm trying to say?
Let people make up their own minds...
