There's indeed a lot of teasing like this going on at WMD, and we continue to get surprises... :) There'll be no Ferrari on release though, as others have confirmed, but who knows what might happen down the road if the game sells well, Namco Bandai opens their purse, Ferrari realize they have to be in the game (:P) etc..

Nothing would make me happier than seeing Italian race cars in the game - if we eventually get Alfa Romeo and Ferrari (see my avatar!) I'll be in heaven. But, even without marques like these, it still looks like we'll get the most complete, well rounded and fun racing sim/game to date, with a mouth watering car list in any case. Like Snaeper, I choose to not expect anything more.
At least we have another fantastic simulation with Ferrari and Alfa Romeo in the form of Assetto Corsa. Man I love the PC.

^ We do indeed have AC for the Red Car fix. While there's nothing wrong with AC technically (I'm a Kunos fan and customer!), IMHO it just doesn't provide the visceral feeling and excitement that pCARS offers, and there's nothing like the career and all the drool worthy content... It's a modding platform, after all (so yes, there will be lots of content eventually, some of which will surely be very good).

P.S. This is not an invitation for sim wars or modding jihad! If you have a PC you simply have to get both as they cover different ground! :)

And it should stay at WMD.

@ Snaeper: Not sure why you felt the need to post this Ferrari bit here, but I m quite sure the dev you quoted would not be happy about it, if he knew. :irked:

Leaking information prematurely for 15 seconds of fame can not only piss off the devs and lead to them not teasing us at WMD in the future, it can also lead to licensing talks being cancelled if things go down an unfortunate path.

I'd like to see the 2015 WRX STI or another WRX STI to match the Evo X and 1M Coupe, and the BRZ/GT86 could take the form of both a roadcar and a GT4 car.

While we are not privvy to licensing discussions and the special agreements in place, the road cars may be as part of a assist to get the really special race cars in. I'm not saying that's what happened, but it could be. While there is a small use for the road cars, I would have preferred to see lower class tin tops like the Mighty Minis replace them. That said, it would odd to have the Huayra or McLarens without some kind of build up to them.

Yea this is what i was thinking, just thought with there been an Evo there would be its rival the Impreza.

On the Subaru thing...the ONLY car worth anything is the Imprezza and that's a rally car (yes its fantastic on any surface but its home turf is dirt lol) so save that for a rallycar game. Not everything needs to be included.

And on Ferrari, yes, its slightly dissapointing Ferrari is most likely not going to be included, but you have to remember the license is massively expensive. If it is included great! But if it isn't included that's more than fine.

im not overly fussed if Subaru are not in the game, as you suggested these are mainly rally cars. but was just curious to know if they would be included in the game :)

On the Ferrari issue, that is slighty disapointing, but if the game sells well and they get a positive response, then they may well be able to aquire the license for future DLC maybe.

Dayum! Speed reading that, I thought I was getting a lambasting - I probably deserve one... we all do now and then... :P

You're right, so I'll add my voice to that sentiment - only share cleared info folks!

He would be mad about denying a Ferrari license?

I'm confused. So by me sharing it it could lead to us not getting something he said we're not getting?

I will not comment on this any further than saying: All dev quotes on licensing stuff like this should stay at WMD unless it is specifically said otherwise.
Indeed, it would be unwise to react to the un-confirmed ramblings of someone who isn't a WMD member and is stating things without sources.

Saw this on Twitter on Aug 31st, 2014:
@WMDCars: “@iYzYz: @WMDCars why no road cars?! Come on now, there's enough race cars already!!” <- Who said there's no road cars? ;-)

The reason I wasn't wow'ed by the Aston license was the exclusion of a road car. A V12 vantage S would have done nicely...

I'm a huge Aston fan....and I could give a rats *** that the road cars aren't included. This is the ONLY console game to ever include the V8 GT4, V12 GT3, and V8 GTE. Not to mention the Hydrogen Rapide GT4, 50's GT cars, and the 2009 Lola/Aston LMP1 monster.

This game is about racing, and Aston Martin has given SMS and PCARS the holy grail(s) of sports car racing. :D

Just this. Racing game needs race cars, period.

A different license is required for that, maybe they will release the roadcars as DLC, who knows.

An Aston road car (Vanquish, I m looking at you... and oh my, are you gorgeous!) would make sense down the line, since there are also country roads drivable in the game.

Ever since TDU showed potential of open world racing/driving/cruising, many are waiting for an open world sim. This is untapped goldmine. Pcars graphics, physics and Galileo on a TDU map - dreams of every car fan.

I'm not sure why roadcars are so detested by some members, as if PCARS will drop all of its simulation features and transform into a Forza game if too many street vehicles pop up in the car list. As mentioned, there are the rural roads, which illustrate SMS's attempt to offer a little something for every kind of enthusiast. Beyond that, racing roadcars on the other tracks with qualifying/pitstops/everything is closer to SCCA Showroom Stock than the Best-Motoring-style shootouts of a GT/FM game. Does SCCA Showroom Stock not count as "racing"?

I've noticed that endurance-spec GT3 cars come with additional headlights. Does PCars model this, or is it one model for all events? It should make night driving a bit easier...

The reason why people detest roads car is cause we already have games that have massive amounts of road cars.
So what if games like Gran Turismo and Forza exist? PCARS could do it better, and if it delivers on its promises, there are no games "we already have" that can compare. According to Andy Tudor, that's literally the mission of the game anyway. They want to be an alternative to GT/Forza, with driving assists and exhaustive race/gameplay options to cover the mainstream and hardcore audiences simultaneously. The mixed car list reflects that goal.

I want what ever feels real and to be honest fun, so be it race or road as long as it feels as close as it can and all on the same level.

Just look at the road cars out there so why wouldn't you include them.

Anyway cough cough I WANT A GTR !

Really? Didn't know that.

But still, I just think the current selection of cars in the supercar category is a bit limited. Don't get me wrong I like that the game's main focus is pure racing, but if it was just about racing there wouldn't be a handful of road cars included already.

In many companies, the road car division is a seperate company from the race car division, a classic example fo that is Lotus. That's why we have no Lotus road cars at all. In other examples, such as Mercedes or Ford, either they work under the same umbrella, or the negotiations have included both parts of the company.

Personally I really enjoy throwing road cars around a race track, however the ability to fit after-market parts and tune them up is pretty necessary to get the most out of them. Both to allow some levelling of the playing field between cars, and to turn the more flabby road cars into something which is actually fun to throw round the track.

AC actually does incorporate this element to a limited extent, with the S1-S3 spec upgrades on many cars. This allows them to balance car speed, fit after-market parts, in a balanced way. Not as "fun" as Forza/GT, but still good enough to let us enjoy a mixed set of road cars while racing around circuits.

Given that NFS Shift had very significant customization (up to full body kits), we know SMS can do this if they want. So clearly a design choice has been made not to include that functionality (presumably since the game is all about spec racing and many different classes, not balancing all kinds of disparate cars together), or testers haven't been given access to it yet :)

can we have a video showing all career races? thank you very much
I think waiting another month or more is probably better for that kind of thing. Tuning the career races from the available selection of cars and tracks is something they are unlikely to finalize until near release.
