Some WMD members are not playing ball and are leaking stuff they shouldn't. For the sake of both our enjoyment of day one and the contract you've signed, please check you can post before you post! (and I'm guessing you may know already)

;)

PS: we know that you know stuff we don't know...

With the news that Sector 3 have got many Group 5 cars coming for R3E... are we likely to see cars such as the Fabcar 935 / Chevrolet Monza etc added to the current Group 5 inventory for PCars?

I hope it's been at least discussed behind the scenes. Group 5 cars are total badass.

We hope. But us WMD members normaly don't have more car licensing information than you guys.

Well if it's being discussed in the forum that's all we want to know :D

Precisely... as long as it's been discussed. It would be a shame to leave Group 5 with two cars...

I can assure you guys that there are not many cars on this planet that are not already asked for in our car request threads. (And every thread sooner or later ends as a car request thread at WMD).

It would be nice if gtp had a suggestion section for pcars like gt does. Does WMD have a wish list voting system of any sort?

No, I'm sure!

I just wanted to bring it up as I read the news from Sector 3 and R3E today.

WMD is not really a "democracy" where everything that is popular will be implemented. It's more like a office/conference workspace where you have to be convincing in your arguments and you actually need to draw the responsible persons from SMS on your side. Other people might come up with arguments in or against your wish/idea. It's ideal to be stubborn and open at the same time, not easy to do though.

That's more to do with development of the game though. With cars, you would surely choose the most wanted models?

Licensing as well as car creation is an ongoing process and SMS will add/announce cars as soon as they have something to announce. They certainly will try to get their hands on the most requested models first, just for commercial reasons and also because the devs are true petrolheads themselves.

Is there still no official car content list yet for launch day? Or is the list at start about as much as it's going to likely be?
I like surprises......but i also like to be teased......

Nope, no official list as of yet. I doubt there will be one until the game goes gold tbh.

Kings of the racetrack. An era of racers that didn't last as long as it should have done.
I'm inclined to disagree. All the group 4 and 5 cars were awsome however people only remember the the 4th generation of the regs.

The group 5 regulations were around for ages however the 4th generation which has the Capri and Beamer were only 8 years. The actual regs were used from 1966 to 82 however the cost near the end spiralled out of control. In addtion to this the group b regulations took over.

I wonder if SMS have other licenses cooking. I really don't want to bring other games into the talk because this is supposed to be for PCARS only, however, one of the things that has surprised me about Assetto Corsa, is the major licenses they're getting for what is supposed to an indie game (at least that is what it says on AC's official Steam page), and being an indie game, it should have less budget than PCARS, a lot less. Regardless, the car list is the only thing that has me on the fence about this game. I feel like it's missing heavy hitters and I really hope they don't try to nickel-and-dime access to those heavy-hitters through DLC, that's a fear I have that I hope won't come true.

I don't have any inside scoop, but just based on the numbers of cars licensed in games and what we know of their budgets, I don't think licensing either cars or tracks is nearly as expensive as most of us think it is. Perhaps there is something in the contract about the cars companies getting compensated on a per unit sold basis that we don't know about, but the upfront licensing can't be too expensive or SMS wouldn't have been able to afford 70 cars and 30-40 tracks up front. We have to assume AC's budget is much smaller and the fact that they can sell the DLC pack of cars and the Nurb for only $CDN11ish tells me it's not outrageously expensive to obtain licensing. I'm guessing most manufacturers actually see some value in having their cars in games to begin with.

Is there a way to estimate steam sales?

It made it to the top of page 1 on steams top seller list on March 4th when the pre order went live and has been hovering around the bottom of page 1, top of page 2 ever since. (based on 25 results per page)

So I'd say Hot Cakes, indeed.

Diggin into this, i found a article on ars technica from March, 5, 2015

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/03/steam-gauge-measuring-the-most-popular-steam-games-of-2014/3/

Assetto Corsa is on place 90 in this list with a number of "owners" at 214.356. That certainly is awesome for a hardcore racing sim yet just half of what i myself had estimated.

I have never heard of 1st or 2nd place on that list. That makes me old doesn't it?. Can't keep up with you kids, with your secret games that sell millions.

"Free-to-play dominates "sales," while pay-to-own dominates hourly usage."

No wonder i've never heard of those

There free to play so that's a distorted the figures a bit.
